A container assembly () having a container body () and exterior shelf structures () that are each reversibly attached to exterior surfaces () of first () and second () sidewalls of the container body (), is described. Each exterior shelf structure () has a shelf base (), and a forward shelf portion () and a rear shelf portion () that each extend upwardly from the shelf base (). Each exterior shelf structure has a shelf space () that resides between and is defined in part by the forward () and rear () shelf portions. The forward shelf portion () of each exterior shelf structure () has an open front or face () that is in communication with a recessed chamber () of the forward shelf portion (). The exterior shelf structures () may each be reversibly attached to the container body sidewalls () by means of tabs () that are received within tab apertures () of the sidewalls. The exterior shelf structures () may be removed from the container body sidewalls () and stored within the container interior (), allowing the container body to be compactly stored and/or shipped. The container assembly, including the container body and exterior shelf structures, may be used to store items, such as personal items, e.g., toys and/or clothing.

Container assembly having removable exterior shelf structures

The present invention relates to a container assembly () that includes a support structure () and a container () that resides reversibly within the support structure interior (). The support structure () includes a pair of opposed first and second support sidewalls () each having an elongated tube () having a first open end () and an elongated hollow interior (). The container () has opposing sidewalls () that each have an elongated channel (). The first and second elongated tubes () of the support structure () are each reversibly received within the first and second elongated sidewall channels () of the container (), as the container is reversibly introduced (e.g., slid) into the support structure interior () through the open forward portion () of the support structure (). The container assembly () may be reversibly lifted by lift members (e.g., lift forks) introduced through the first open ends () and into the elongated hollow interiors () of the first and second elongated tubes () of the support structure (). At least a portion of the container (e.g., upper container portion) may have a three dimensional shape corresponding to an activity being conducted in the venue in which the container assembly is used, such as, a protective sports helmet shape (e.g., a hockey helmet shape) or a sports ball shape (e.g., a soccer ball shape).
