A mounting member for mounting a luggage rack and/or a backrest to a motorcycle includes a concave recess on at least one side for snugly receiving a rounded side surface of a backrest assembly. This recess provides support to the back rest assembly such that vertical loads encountered during normal operation are carried by the snug engagement of the concave recess and the rounded side surface, reducing shear stress on fasteners used to couple the backrest to the mounting member. A portion of a motorcycle luggage rack is disposed over a rear portion of the mounting member and fasteners are extended through apertures in the luggage rack and threaded into substantially vertical threaded bores in the mounting member to affix the luggage rack to the mounting member.

Luggage rack and backrest mounting system

A saddlebag support assembly for use on a motorcycle includes a mounting member mounted to the motorcycle's shock bolt. A portion of the mounting member extends below a lower edge of the motorcycle's rear fender. The saddlebag support assembly also includes front and rear arms having front and rear plates. The front plate is mounted to the portion of the mounting member below the lower edge of the rear fender. An internal support member is mounted to the shock bolt and extends rearwardly thereof. The internal support member includes a depending portion defining a slot that receives the rear plate. The rear plate is fastened to the depending portion of the internal support member. The saddlebag support assembly further includes a bottom support for supporting the saddlebag from underneath, and a bracket having quick-release bosses. Quick-release fasteners are used to secure the saddlebag to the quick-release bosses from the inside of the saddlebag.

Motorcycle saddlebag mounting system

A motorcycle that includes a luggage rack and/or backrest secured to a mounting bracket. The mounting bracket is positioned under the motorcycle seat and is secured to the rear fender of the motorcycle. Attaching the mounting bracket below the motorcycle seat conceals the mounting hardware that is used to secure the mounting bracket to the rear fender. Concealing mounting hardware on a motorcycle enhances the aesthetic appearance of the motorcycle.

Motorcycle luggage rack and backrest assembly

A saddlebag mounting system that eliminates the need for external fasteners on the rear fender and corresponding tail section. The saddlebag is mounted to the inner surface of the rear fender using a saddlebag mounting system, including a mounting bracket. The mounting bracket preferably includes an inner bracket coupled to the inner surface of the rear fender, and an outer bracket coupled to the inner bracket, the saddlebag being mounted to the outer bracket. The rear fender can be provided with an inner support mounted to the inner surface to facilitate attachment of the inner bracket. For example, the inner support can include a slotted opening, and a fastener can be used to couple the inner bracket to the inner support.

A saddlebag mounting system that eliminates the need for external fasteners on the rear fender and corresponding tail section. The saddlebag is mounted to the inner surface of the rear fender using a saddlebag mounting system, including a mounting bracket. The mounting bracket preferably includes an inner bracket coupled to the inner surface of the rear fender, and an outer bracket coupled to the inner bracket, the saddlebag being mounted to the outer bracket. The rear fender can be provided with an inner support mounted to the inner surface to facilitate attachment of the inner bracket. For example, the inner support can include a slotted opening, and a fastener can be used to couple the inner bracket to the inner support. Preferably, the fastener includes a head portion positioned within the slotted opening. The slotted opening can take on a variety of shapes, but preferably includes a wide portion larger than the head portion of the fastener, and a narrow portion smaller than the head portion of the fastener. With this design, the head portion can be inserted into the wide portion and subsequently slid into the narrow portion. Tightening of the fastener to the inner bracket will result in securing the inner bracket to the inner support.
