A finishing section of a recessed wall wash light fixture has a heat conducting side wall. The inner surface of the side wall has a reflective finish. A lamp is non-centrally aligned within the finishing section. The reflective sides cooperate with the off axis location of the lamp to operate as a kick reflector to kick a portion of the light emitted outward from the fixture at high angles to illuminate a nearby wall close to the ceiling line. The finishing section functions as a lamp support, heat shield and kick reflector reducing the number of parts and complexity of assembly typical of wall wash light fixtures. The finishing section is mounted substantially within a rough-in section housing. An aperture cone section, lens, hinge and bias mechanism, and rotatable collar improve performance and functionality of the fixture.

Recessed wall wash light fixture

A recessed downlight wall wash reflector assembly and method of installing the same. The reflector assembly is installable from below the plane of a ceiling into a standard mounting frame for a recessed downlight reflector having a similarly sized light exit aperture. In the preferred embodiment configured for use as a single wall washer, the reflector assembly has a downlight reflector, a window cutout in the wall of the downlight reflector and a resilient wall wash reflector attached to the reflector assembly such that it is positioned behind the window cutout. The resilient wall wash reflector has flexible sides which flex inward, allowing the reflector assembly to fit through the mounting frame opening during installation. Once the assembly has cleared the frame opening, the flexible sides return to their original shape. In an embodiment preferred for use as a comer or double (parallel) wall washer, the reflector assembly has a yoke assembly having a top plate and a leg extending between the top plate and the mounting frame. The yoke assembly may be installed through the mounting frame opening and secured to the mounting frame from below the ceiling. Wall wash reflectors may then be installed through the opening and attached to the yoke assembly. Lastly, a downlight reflector with window cutouts may be installed through the opening and attached to the yoke assembly such that the window cutouts are positioned in front of the wall wash reflectors.

Recessed downlight wall wash reflector assembly and method

A neck assembly for a recessed lighting fixture is provided that allows for the dissipation of heat from the fixture to the atmosphere and provides for the use of lamps of various sizes within the fixture. The neck assembly includes a generally annular neck portion that includes a body portion; and, a socket subassembly that includes a U-shaped socket support and lamp socket. The neck portion includes an axial hole or opening therein and may also include one or more nonaxial holes or openings therein. The nonaxial holes or openings may be circular, oblong or some other similar shape. The neck portion also contains two or more pairs of slots or openings. These slots are configured so as to removably receive the ends of the legs of the U-shaped socket support.
