The present invention includes a label, a label sheet and a method for manufacturing the label. The label includes a paper facestock having first and second surfaces and a layer of pressure sensitive adhesive proximal to the second surface. The label can be adhered to a substrate having pre-applied indicia to cover the indicia and the label is opaque enough to prevent the viewing of the covered indicia while matching the color of the substrate.

A sheet of printable business cards which includes a cardstock sheet construction having a front side and a back side and a solid continuous liner sheet releasably secured with ultraremovable adhesive to and covering the back side. Continuous through-cut lines are cut through the cardstock sheet construction to the back side but not through-cut through the liner sheet; the through-cut lines defining at least in part perimeter edges of printable business cards. Portions of the back side of the cardstock sheet construction form back side surfaces of the printable business cards. Areas of the liner sheet covering back sides of all of the through-cut lines and thereby hold the printable business cards together when the sheet of printable business cards is fed through a printer or copier for a printing operation on the printable business cards. The liner sheet and the through-cut lines allow the business cards to be removed from the liner sheet and separated after the printing operation into individual printed business cards.

A printable sheet assembly having a facestock that is provided with a plurality of cards including a card whose perimeter is defined by first and second horizontal through-cut lines and first and second vertical through-cut lines, the intersection of the first horizontal through-cut line and the first vertical through-cut line defining a first corner, the intersection of the first horizontal through-cut line and the second vertical through-cut line defining a second card corner. A liner sheet strip is on a back side surface of the facestock. The liner sheet strip covers the first horizontal through-cut line and is wider at one of the card corners than along the first horizontal through-cut line at an area centrally disposed between the card corners, thereby exposing a portion of a back side surface the card, and the liner sheet strip covering portions of the vertical through-cut lines between the horizontal through-cut lines.

Printable sheet assembly

Systems and tabs are provided for labeling a hanging folder having substantially vertical slots. The tab includes three walls. The first wall has a top edge and a flange located below the top edge that is adapted for engagement of the vertical slot on the hanging file folder such that the first wall projects above the file folder. The second wall has a top edge and a flange located below the top edge that is adapted for engagement of the vertical slot on the hanging file folder such that the second wall projects above the file folder. The third wall is located between the first and second walls, and located along a plane that forms an angle with either the first or second walls that is not 90 degrees.

A method of forming printable media using a laminate sheet construction which includes a film-coated liner sheet and a laminate facestock. A facestock sheet, a film layer and an adhesive layer together form the laminate facestock. The laminate facestock is cut through to the liner sheet to form facestock cut lines defining at least in part perimeters of printable media, such as rectangular business cards. An outer face of the liner sheet is cut through to form liner-sheet cut lines defining a plurality of liner sheet strips on a back side of the laminate facestock. The laminate sheet construction is sheeted into a plurality of sheets, each of the sheets includes a plurality of the printable media and at least one of the liner sheet strips. The sheets are fed through a printer or copier, desired indicia is printed on the media and the printed media then separated from the liner sheet strips of the sheet.

A method of forming printable media including providing a laminate construction which includes (1) a film coated liner having a film layer on a liner and (2) a facestock adhered with an adhesive layer to the film layer of the film coated liner. The facestock, the film layer and the adhesive layer together form a laminate facestock. The facestock is cut to the liner to form facestock cut lines defining at least in part perimeters of printable media. Areas of the liner cover backsides of the facestock cut lines and thereby hold the printable media together for a printing operation on the printable media in a printer or copier and allow the printed media to be removed from the liner after the printing operation into individual printed media.

A single sheet has multiple separation lines arranged such that the sheet can be printed on by a standard printer such as a personal computer printer, and the sheet may thereafter be separated and/or folded in any one of three different configurations to form different possible compact disc jewel case inserts including both face labels and spine labels. One embodiment is of a sheet having at least four longitudinal lines of weakness extending across at least a major portion of the length of the sheet, and at least three latitudinal lines of weakness extending across a major portion of the width of the sheet, with at least one longitudinal line of weakness being a fold about which at least one portion is folded.

Versatile printable sheet for forming jewel case inserts and booklets

A low density polyethylene film layer is extrusion coated on densified bleached kraft paper liner to form a film-coated liner sheet. A facestock sheet is adhered with a layer of hot melt adhesive to the film layer to form a laminate sheet web, which is rolled on a roll. The facestock sheet, the film layer and the adhesive layer together define a laminate feedstock. The roll is transported to and loaded on a press with the liner side up. One (or both) edge(s) of the web is (are) crushed with a calendering die to form thin lead-in edge(s). The web is die cut on the bottom face, up through the laminate facestock, but not through the paper liner, to form the perimeters of a grid of blank business cards or other printable media, with a waste paper frame of the laminate facestock encircling the grid. The web is then die cut from the top through the paper liner and to but not through the laminate facestock, to form liner strips covering the back face of the laminate facestock. According to one preferred embodiment of the invention, alternate ones of the strips are then pulled off of the laminate facestock web. A final production step is to sheet the web to form the desired sheet width (or length) of the laminated sheet construction. The individual laminated business card sheets can be stacked into the infeed tray of an ink jet printer for example, and the sheets individually and automatically fed lead-in edge first into the printer and a printing operation performed on each of the printable media, to form a sheet of printed media. The remaining strips on the back of the laminate facestock cover the lateral cut lines in the laminate facestock and thereby hold the facestock together as it is fed into and passed through the printer. The user then individually peels the printed media off of the strips and out from the waste paper frame. Thereby printed business cards (or other printed media), each with its entire perimeter defined by clean die cuts, are formed. Instead of calendering both edges of the web and thus the sheet, one end can be calendered and a strip of the laminate facestock can be stripped off of the liner sheet from the other end. The remaining thin liner sheet strip at the other end forms a thin infeed edge for feeding into a horizontal feed, ink jet printer.

Method of forming sheets of printable media

A dual pocket or envelope for CDs or DVDs is formed of two standard letter size sheets of 8&#xbd;&#x2033;&#xd7;11&#x2033; or A-4 size paper, which are bonded together around the edges of the sheets and centrally to divide the sheet assembly into two pockets which are substantially square to hold the discs. One of the sheets is die cut to form the upper edge of the pockets, with a closure flap also being formed above each pocket. Each closure flap may be held in the closed position by mechanical interlinking with the pocket, or by exposed pressure sensitive adhesive, which is enabled and exposed by the removal of a release coated slip of paper from one of the two sheets. An index tab may be die cut from said sheets above the open edge of each pocket.

Versatile CD/DVD type pocket assembly

Ultraremovable adhesive is applied to a paper sheet to form therewith a liner sheet and the liner sheet is laminated to a cardstock sheet to form a laminate cardstock. The cardstock sheet is then die cut therethrough, but not through the liner sheet, to form cardstock cut lines that define at least in part perimeters of business cards (or other printable media). The outer face of the liner sheet is then die cut therethrough, but not through the cardstock sheet, to form liner sheet strips on a back side of the cardstock sheet. Some of the strips define cover strips covering some of the cardstock cut lines, and others of the strips define waste strips. The waste strips are then matrix removed from the back of the cardstock sheet. The resulting business card sheet construction is then fed through a printer or copier by the user and the desired indicia printed on the front sides of the business cards, while the cover strips hold the cards together as a unit sheet construction. After this printing operation, the printed cards are easily peeled off of the cover strips, ready for use. By designing the sheet construction to form in the printed media with different sizes and shapes and by including optional scored fold lines, and/or additional flexibility cut lines or flexibility perforation lines, media aside from business cards, such as post cards and greeting cards, can be constructed and used pursuant to this invention.
