A technique is provided for imaging a field of view using an X-ray source comprising two or more emission points. The two or more emission points may be independently operated. Independent operation of the two or more emission points in performed in accordance with a list of commands that specifies the operation of the emission points. The list of commands, in one embodiment, is stored in a sequence buffer. In other embodiments, the list of commands is generated for a given usage, without being stored in a sequence buffer.

Method and system for X-ray imaging

A method and apparatus for the alignment of a fourth generation Computed Tomography (CT) system is provided. The method includes receiving X-ray scan data from the CT system, and processing the received X-ray scan data to automatically generate alignment correction information to align the CT system.

Method and apparatus for aligning a fourth generation computed tomography system

A scanning electron beam computed tomographic system is provided with a sub-collimation system that passes X-rays emitted by a beam spot formed by an electron beam that is scanned across an X-ray emitting target, which X-rays would not otherwise reach an object under X-ray examination with the system. The sub-collimation system includes phantom-like objects that cause X-rays to be blocked, or passed, through to X-ray detectors depending primarily upon the beam spot position and, secondarily, on the beam-spot shape. Detector output signals may be used in real-time to control at least one characteristic of the electron beam-spot in a closed-loop correction system.
