A game ball having improved resistance to liquid moisture, wherein the game ball includes a water resistant lining and a leather cover with water resistance properties. The water resistance properties of the cover are imparted by the tanning process and the lining is coated with a water resistant polymeric material.

An inflatable sport ball, such as a basketball, a football, a soccer ball, a volley ball or a playground ball, is provided with a self-contained inflation mechanism for inflating or more likely adding pressure to the ball. The mechanism is a pump which is inside of the ball and which is operable from outside of the ball to pump ambient air into the ball.

A ball bat comprising a bat frame in a generally cylindrical configuration. The bat has an essentially cylindrical hitting area and a handle area remote from the hitting area and with a tapering transition zone therebetween. The bat frame is fabricated of a composite material of fibers in a matrix binder. A cylindrical recess is formed in the hitting area and has an annular inner face and parallel end faces at the ends of the recess. An annular insert metal with an interior cylindrical surface is in contact with the inner face of the recess and with parallel end faces in contact with the end faces of the recess and a cylindrical exterior surface essentially flush with the portions of the bat frame on opposite sides of the recess.

An inflatable sport ball, such as a basketball, a football, a soccer ball, a volley ball or a playground ball, is provided with a self-contained inflation mechanism for inflating or more likely adding pressure to the ball. The mechanism is a self-contained, manually operable pumping chamber which is inside of the ball and which is operable from outside of the ball to compress the chamber and. pump ambient air into the ball.

The indicia associated with the panel areas include wide depressed areas formed in the cover material of the molded rubber basketball and extending longitudinally with channels formed within the basketball cover.

An inflatable sport ball, such as a basketball, a football, a soccer ball, a volley ball or a playground ball, is provided with self-contained inflation means for inflating or more likely adding pressure to the ball. The inflation means is a vessel inside of the ball containing a high pressure gas which may be bled form the vessel into the interior of the ball surrounding the vessel such as by valve means operable from the outside of the ball.

A basketball formed from overlying layers includes a carcass layer with recessed curvilinearly extending seam areas. Ribs longitudinally follow the recessed seam areas and extend outwardly therefrom. Panels are mounted to the carcass between the ribs.

A game ball with increased gripability including a bladder fabricated of an air impervious elastomeric material and a carcass overlying the bladder. The carcass has a common thickness over the majority of its extent and an exterior surface formed with a plurality of raised projections. The raised projections have a height of between about 0.030 inch and 0.120 inch, preferably about 0.120 inch. The projections are in the form of loops with supplemental projections there within.
