Implantable apparatus includes two or more alignable marker elements, and systems and methods for manufacturing such implantable apparatus, and methods to utilize such implantable apparatus. For example, the implantable apparatus may include a first alignable marker element and a second alignable marker element that may be used to ensure proper alignment with a target site.

Lead construction including alignable marker elements

In some examples, a system includes a catheter comprising an elongated shaft defining a lumen, and a tether assembly. The tether assembly may include an elongate body, a tether head assembly attached to a distal end of the elongate body, where the tether head assembly includes an attachment mechanism configured to releasably attach to an attachment member of a medical device, and a positioning element fixedly positioned over the elongate body and configured to align the attachment mechanism with the attachment member when the tether head assembly is extended distally out of the lumen. The positioning element may include a distal end, a proximal end, and a length between the distal end and proximal end that is less than a length of the elongate body. The tether head assembly, elongate body, and positioning element may be movable within the lumen of the elongated shaft.

Tether assemblies for medical device retrieval systems

A fixation mechanism of an implantable medical device is formed by a plurality of tines fixedly mounted around a perimeter of a distal end of the device. Each tine may be said to include a first segment fixedly attached to the device, a second segment extending from the first segment, and a third segment, to which the second segment extends. When the device is loaded in a lumen of a delivery tool and a rounded free distal end of each tine engages a sidewall that defines the lumen, to hold the tines in a spring-loaded condition, the first segment of each tine, which has a spring-biased pre-formed curvature, becomes relatively straightened, and the third segment of each tine, which is terminated by the free distal end, extends away from the axis of the device at an acute angle in a range from about 45 degrees to about 75 degrees.

Interventional medical devices, device systems, and fixation components thereof

An implantable medical lead comprising a lead body defining a lumen. The lead body includes one or more tines substantially at a distal end of the lead body. An inner member extending within the lead body lumen is configured to rotate relative to the lead body and configured to cause a rotation of a dilator. The dilator is configured such that the rotation causes or enables a lateral translation of the dilator from a first position proximal to a lead body opening to a second position distal to the lead body opening. The implantable medical lead may include a probe wire configured to slidably translate through an inner lumen of the dilator.

The present disclosure is directed to a shuttle apparatus for detachably joining a catheter to a guidewire so that the joined catheter, extending alongside the guidewire, is in sliding engagement with the guidewire without extending around the guidewire. The apparatus comprises a collar member sized for mounting in sliding engagement around a length of the guidewire, the collar member having a longitudinal axis that approximately aligns along the length, when mounted thereabout, the length being defined between a proximal-most point of the guidewire and a distal point of the guidewire, the distal point being offset proximally from a distal-most point of the guidewire. The apparatus further comprises a plug member coupled to the collar member, the plug member having a longitudinal axis, and the plug member being sized to fit within an opening of the catheter for detachable engagement therewith.

Shuttle apparatus and associated systems and methods

In some examples, a tether head assembly of a delivery system includes an inner retainer and an outer retainer that defines an aperture comprising a receptacle configured to receive an attachment member of a medical device, a passageway, and a groove. The inner retainer is movable within the groove between a second position in which the passageway is dimensioned to receive the attachment member and a first position in which the passageway is dimensioned to prevent passage of the attachment member. In some examples, a tether handle assembly defines a channel, a force transmitter within the channel, a slidable member partially received within a first end of the channel and a button partially received within a second end of the channel. Distally-directed force applied to the button may cause the force transmitter to apply proximally-directed force to the slidable member, moving the slidable member and an attached pull wire proximally.

Tether assemblies for medical device delivery systems

VfA cardiac therapy uses an implantable medical device or system. The implantable medical device includes a tissue-piercing electrode implanted in the basal and/or septal region of the left ventricular myocardium of the patient's heart from the triangle of Koch region of the right atrium through the right atrial endocardium and central fibrous body. The device may include a right atrial electrode, a right atrial motion detector, or both. The device may be implanted completely within the patient's heart or may use one or more leads to implant electrodes in the patient's heart. The device may be used to provide cardiac therapy, including single or multiple chamber pacing, atrioventricular synchronous pacing, asynchronous pacing, triggered pacing, cardiac resynchronization pacing, or tachycardia-related therapy. A separate medical device may be used to provide some functionality for cardiac therapy, such as sensing, pacing, or shock therapy.

An example fixation component for an implantable medical device (IMD) includes a base and a plurality of tines configured be deployed with a target deployment stiffness to engage tissue a target implant site while maintaining a target deflection stiffness after deployment. The base defines a longitudinal axis of the fixation component and is fixedly attached near the distal end of the IMD. Each tine is spaced apart from one another around a perimeter of the distal end of the IMD and extend from the base. A shape of each tine is selected to control each of the target deployment stiffness and target deflection stiffness.

Fixation components for implantable medical devices

An apparatus for forming a passageway through tissue includes a dilator mounted to a shaft, wherein the dilator includes a first portion, which has an increasing taper from a first outer diameter to a larger second outer diameter, and a second portion, which has a decreasing taper from the first portion to a distal end of the dilator, and which includes an external non-cutting thread formed along the decreasing taper. Lumens of the dilator and shaft provide a conduit for means to pierce through the tissue, for example, an elongate wire that includes a piercing tip. In some cases, the dilator first portion is expandable to, and contractible from, the larger second outer diameter, wherein the apparatus may include a spreading member configured to slide between the shaft and the first portion. The apparatus may be included in a system with an introducer sheath.

An improved assembly for securing an implantable medical device for retrieval from an implant site includes a plurality of snares, wherein distal openings of a first snare carrier lumen and a second snare carrier lumen have a pre-set offset established therebetween. First and second snare shafts, to which first and second snare loops are coupled, respectively, extend within the corresponding snare carrier lumens such that each loop is located in proximity to the corresponding distal opening of the lumen. The pre-set offset allows an operator to simultaneously position the snare loops around the device; and, when the operator retracts the snare shafts to collapse the snare loops until the loops fit snuggly around the device, the pre-set offset can help to align the device for retrieval.
