Systems for detecting arcing faults inside a utility meter are disclosed. In one embodiment, an arc detection system for a utility meter is disclosed including: a photoreceptor sensor configured for placement within a utility meter housing; and a computing device communicatively connected to the photoreceptor sensor, the computing device adapted to monitor arcing events within the utility meter housing by performing actions comprising: obtaining illumination data about an area within the utility meter housing from the photoreceptor sensor; and analyzing the illumination data to determine whether an arcing event has occurred within the utility meter.

Aspects of the invention provide for an electric vehicle charging station (EVCS). In one embodiment, the EVCS may include: a charging outlet configured to receive a chargeable device; a contactor operably connected to the charging outlet and electrically connected to an advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) meter; and an EVCS controller configured to receive a set of instructions from the AMI meter about modifying an amount of power supplied to the charging outlet, wherein the EVCS controller is configured to modify the amount of power supplied to the charging outlet via the contactor in response to receiving the set of instructions.

Disclosed herein is a ground fault protection circuit for an electrical distribution system, the electrical distribution system having a plurality of power sources each having an associated main circuit breaker and being electrically coupled to an associated load with a tie circuit breaker electrically coupled therebetween, the main and tie circuit breakers having associated therewith phase and neutral current transformers (CTs) for sensing an associated current. The ground fault protection circuit includes first, second and third auxiliary differential current transformers, each in signal communication with outputs of respective phase and neutral current transformers associated with respective first and second main circuit breakers and a tie circuit breaker. A control circuit has a defined topology that provides signal communication between each of the auxiliary differential current transformers.

Methods and apparatus for operating a refrigerator

A rotor for a wind turbine generator includes a rotatable hub forming a cavity. A plurality of rotor blades is connected to the hub. A heat sink is at least partially positioned within the cavity and extends along a portion of a corresponding rotor blade. The heat sink includes a bottom surface mounted on a thermal energy generating component of the wind turbine generator. An opposing top planar surface includes a plurality of pins extending therefrom. The pins form an air flow path through the pins to dissipate the generated thermal energy from the thermal energy generating component.

Method and apparatus for gravity induced thermal energy dissipation

A ferrite assembly has a first conductor and a number of ferrite members. Each of the number of ferrite members has a core. The ferrite members are in electrical communication with the first conductor. The ferrite assembly has a number of current dividing members in electrical communication with the first conductor. A device for controlling a fluid flow is disclosed. The device includes at least two fluid flow drivers, a plenum disposed to receive a fluid flow from the at least two drivers, and a baffle disposed within the plenum. The plenum has a first cross-sectional area proximate the at least two drivers and a second cross-section area at a distance from the at least two drivers, the second cross-sectional area being an exit for the fluid flow. The baffle has a first edge restrained proximate the first cross-sectional area and a second opposing edge freely disposed proximate the second cross-sectional area. The baffle has a surface area responsive to the fluid flow within the plenum to reduce a backflow if one of the at least two drivers is operational and another is non-operational.

Fluid flow control apparatus

An apparatus and method for mounting electrical devices in a housing at an angle relative to the ground is provided. The apparatus comprises a housing having a top, bottom, and sides, each of which may be open, closed or ventilated. One or more electrical devices are located in the housing and are oriented at an angle relative to the horizontal ground. The electrical devices may be silicon controlled rectifiers that serve as a power bridge between an exciter and a power generator. A method for mounting electrical devices in a housing at an angle relative to the horizontal ground is also provided.

Series-parallel fans system

An apparatus and method for providing a supply of air to cool electrical devices is provided. The apparatus comprises a two fan housings, each containing a number of fans arranged to blow air in a parallel fashion. The exhaust of one housing is connected to the intake of the other housing by a balancing plenum. The apparatus provides a sufficient supply of cooling air when one or more of the fans is inoperable. The device being cooled may be the power bridge of an exciter for a power generation system. A method for providing a supply of air to electrical devices is also provided.
