A sensor assembly comprises an electronics assembly having a circuit board, a sensor mount structure comprising a first side and a second side, and an aperture formed from the first side towards the second side. The sensor assembly can comprise a sensor supported by the sensor mount structure, such that the sensor is situated, at least partially, in the aperture. The sensor assembly can comprise a spring pin connector coupled to the sensor mount structure, and having a connector body and a pair of conductive spring pins supported by the connector body and electrically coupled to the sensor, and blind-mate interfaced to the circuit board of the electronics assembly, thereby electrically coupling the sensor to the electronics assembly. A sensor array module can include a plurality of sensors and spring pin connectors coupled to a sensor mount structure, which can provide a transponder array of a torpedo.

A deep-water submersible system is disclosed. The system can include a pressure vessel and an internal assembly. The internal assembly can include a housing and a wedge lock assembly coupleable to the housing. The wedge lock assembly can include a plurality of wedge members arranged along a longitudinal axis and including end wedge members at each end and one or more intermediate wedge members between the end wedge members. The wedge lock assembly can also include a displacement device along the longitudinal axis and connecting the end wedge members. The displacement device can be actuatable in one direction to move the end wedge members toward one another to displace adjacent wedge members relative to one another in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis to engage and apply a clamping force to the housing and the pressure vessel. In addition, the wedge lock assembly can include a variable gap compensation mechanism operable to exert a biasing force on the plurality of wedge members to accommodate the relative transverse movement of the adjacent wedge members and maintain the clamping force on the housing and the pressure vessel within a predetermined range as a distance between the housing and the pressure vessel varies.

An apparatus includes a clamping assembly configured to receive and secure a component in a support structure. The clamping assembly includes a faceplate configured to be coupled to the support structure. The clamping assembly also includes first and second side rails configured to be coupled to the support structure and to apply frictional forces to the component. The clamping assembly further includes first and second spring assemblies configured to be coupled to the faceplate. The spring assemblies are also configured to pull clamps mounted to the side rails toward the faceplate in order to apply clamping forces to the component.

A method of modifying a hand-held tool which having a stationary handle actuated by a movable handle connected to a movable tool jaw by a connection linkage, the method including removing the moving handle and the stationary handle. A pneumatic actuator with a piston rod is added. The connection linkage is modified to extend between the piston rod and the movable tool jaw. A trigger is added between the pneumatic actuator and a source of pressurized gas.

A fastening device for driving a fastener into a workpiece by effecting multiple blows upon the fastener comprises a housing and a striker assembly movably mounted within the housing. The striker assembly includes a driver assembly adapted to strike the fastener to be driven into the workpiece. A nose assembly is movably mounted on the housing and has a fastener drive track along which the driver assembly and the fastener travel when the fastener is driven into the workpiece. The fastening device has a feed mechanism operatively connected to the nose assembly for mechanically advancing the fastener into the fastener drive track. The fastener drive track has a guide surface adjacent the aperture of the nose assembly to direct the fastener as it is driven into the workpiece. A releasable fastener assembly releasably secures the nose assembly to the housing of the fastening device. A control assembly controls the operation of the fastening device to conserve energy. A coil of collated roofing nails is adapted for use with the fastening device. Each of the nails of the coil of collated roofing nails is coated with a thermoplastic material that serves as a lubricant which facilitates driving of the nails.

A multi-stroke fastening device comprising a housing, a fastener drive track carried by the housing, a striker assembly guide track mounted within the housing, a striker assembly mounted in slidable relation within said guide track, a power drive assembly, and a feed mechanism. The striker assembly includes a driver member constructed and arranged to strike a fastener disposed in the fastener drive track. The striker assembly is constructed and arranged to be moved along the guide track through a plurality of alternating drive strokes and return strokes to effect a plurality of impacts of the driver member upon the fastener in order to drive the fastener into the workpiece. The striker assembly has a substantially constant drive stroke lengths relative to the guide track. The power drive assembly is constructed and arranged to drive the striker assembly to effect the plurality of impacts of the driver member upon the fastener, and the feed mechanism is constructed and arranged to feed successive fasteners into the drive track to be struck by the striker assembly.

A pneumatic fastener driving device includes an energy control assembly constructed and arranged with respect to a passageway leading to a piston pressure chamber to be manually movable between (1) a first position wherein the passageway is opened fully to communicate a pressure reservoir with the piston pressure chamber thereby permitting the air under pressure to communicate with the piston pressure chamber to provide maximum energy to a drive piston and (2) a second position wherein the passageway is at least partially closed restricting a flow of the air under pressure from the pressure reservoir to the piston pressure chamber thereby reducing energy to the piston while the air under pressure is maintained at a predetermined pressure value.

Adjustable energy control valve for a fastener driving device

A pneumatically operated fastener drive device that comprises a housing assembly including a nose assembly defining a fastener drive track. A cylinder is disposed in the housing assembly, and a resilient bumper is disposed towards a bottom of the cylinder. A drive piston is slidably and sealingly mounted in the cylinder for movement through an operative cycle. The drive piston engages the bumper at the end of the drive stroke. A fastener driving element is operatively connected to the piston for movement therewith and extends through an opening in the bumper. A valve arrangement is movable between a closed position and an opened position to effect movement of the piston and fastener driving element. An actuator and trigger member are operable to control the valve arrangement. The bumper has a sealing portion surrounding the opening in the bumper and disposed outwardly from the cylinder. The sealing portion has exterior surfaces disposed in engagement with adjacent surrounding surfaces of the nose assembly. The sealing portion is flexible outwardly under the force of air pressure within the cylinder below the piston during the return stroke of the piston so that the exterior surfaces of the sealing portion are biased in sealing relation with adjacent surrounding surfaces of the nose assembly.

A pneumatically operated fastener driving device which includes a control valve module having i) a control module housing assembly mounted with respect to the housing and providing an exhaust passage which can be opened to communicate the one end of the cylinder with atmosphere, and ii) a main valve mounted with respect to the control module housing assembly for movement between opened and closed positions to open and close the passageway. The control module is a selected one of the standard type, full cycle type, automatic type, and automatic with remote type. The selected one control module is constructed and arranged with respect to the main frame portion of the housing so as to be removable therefrom as a unit. After removal of the selected one control module as a unit, another one of the types of control modules can be positioned with respect to the main frame portion of the housing as a unit to as to be operable therewith.

Fastener driving device having interchangeable control modules

An improved pneumatically operated fastener driving device comprising an actuating assembly mounted with respect to a housing assembly and movable from an inoperative position to an operative position. A first sealing element is mounted with respect to a feed path. The first sealing element moves from a sealed position, wherein it prevents communication between an air pressure reservoir and a control pressure chamber when the actuating assembly is in the operative position, and an unsealed position, wherein the first sealing element permits such communication to move a main valve to a closed position when the actuating assembly is in the inoperative position. A second sealing element is mounted with respect to an exhaust port and moves from a sealed position, wherein it prevents communication between the control pressure chamber and the atmosphere when the actuating assembly is in the inoperative position, and an unsealed position, wherein the second sealing element permits such communication, thereby affecting movement of the main valve to an open position, when the actuating assembly is in the operative position. A biasing element is operatively associated with the second sealing element and biases the second sealing element towards its unsealed position to maintain communication of the control pressure chamber with the atmosphere until the first sealing element has moved to its unsealed position.

A pneumatically operated fastener driving device includes a pilot pressure operated main valve movable from a normally closed position into an opened position allowing a supply of air under pressure to be communicated with a piston chamber to initiate and effect the movement of a piston and fastener driving element through a fastener drive stroke. A first passage structure communicates a pilot pressure chamber and an exhaust port. A secondary valve member is mounted with respect to the first passage structure so as to be movable between an opened position permitting communication between the pilot pressure chamber and the exhaust port and a closed position preventing such communication. A second passage structure communicates the piston chamber with the secondary valve member. An operative cycle is initiated upon exhausting pilot pressure in the pilot pressure chamber causing the main valve to move to its opened position thereby initiating the fastener drive stroke. A build-up of pressure over the drive piston in the piston chamber communicates with the secondary valve member moving it to its closed position thereby preventing communication between the pilot pressure chamber and the exhaust port and causing the main valve to move to its closed position. The secondary valve member is constructed and arranged to move in response to changes in air pressure over the drive piston occurring in the piston chamber to cause the main valve to reciprocate thereby causing the drive piston to move through repeated operating cycles as long as the trigger member is in its operative position.

Automatic-type fastener driving device

A fastener driving tool includes a portable housing defining a fastener drive track. A magazine assembly is carried by the housing for receiving a supply of fasteners and for feeding successive fasteners in a feeding direction into the drive track. A ferrous fastener driving element is mounted within the drive track for movement through repetitive cycles, each of which includes a fastener drive stroke in one direction in which a fastener within the drive track is engaged and moved outwardly of the drive track into a work piece, and a return stroke. A drive piston is operatively connected with the fastener driving element for movement therewith. An actuating mechanism is carried by the housing and is constructed and arranged to initiate movement of the fastener driving element through a fastener drive stroke. A magnet is mounted adjacent the drive track and is operatively associated with the fastener driving element so as to continuously bias the fastener driving element in the feeding direction of the successive fasteners such that during the drive stroke of the fastener driving element, the fastener driving element may engage a leading fastener of the successive fasteners without contacting an adjacent fastener of the supply.

A pneumatically operated fastener driving device includes a pilot pressure operated main valve movable from a normally closed position into an opened position closing an exhaust path and allowing a supply of air under pressure to be communicated with a piston chamber to initiate and effect the movement of a piston and fastener driving element through a fastener drive stroke. First passage structure is provided between a pilot pressure chamber and an exhaust port. A secondary valve member is mounted with respect to the first passage structure so as to be movable between an opened position permitting communication between the pilot pressure chamber and the exhaust port and a closed position preventing communication between the pilot pressure chamber and the exhaust port. Second passage structure communicates the piston chamber with the secondary valve member and with the exhaust path. Pressure over the drive piston in the piston chamber communicates with the secondary valve member to move the secondary valve member to its closed position preventing communication between the pilot pressure chamber and the exhaust port thereby causing the main valve to move to its closed position. The secondary valve member permits one full cycle of operation to be performed while the trigger member remains actuated thereby minimizing exposure of the fastener driving element and thus, damage thereto.
