Methods, systems, and computer programs are presented for managing motion sickness of a user while the user is wearing a head-mounted device (HMD). One method includes an operation for monitoring the physical characteristics of the user while wearing the HMD that is presenting a virtual reality with multimedia content, where the physical characteristics including motions of the user. The multimedia content includes audio and video for presentation on a display of the HMD. Additionally, the method includes an operation for determining if the user is experiencing motion sickness based on the monitoring of the physical characteristics of the user while the virtual reality is being presented. When the user is experiencing motion sickness, supplemental sound is delivered to the user, where the supplemental sound is combined with sound from the multimedia content for delivery to the user, and the supplemental sound is defined to decrease the motion sickness experienced by the user.

A media streaming device is provided. In one configuration, the media streaming device includes an interface for connecting the media streaming device to a display screen. A head mounted display (HMD) output for connecting to an HMD over a wireless connection provide by wireless communication circuitry. A processor for processing received video of interactive content. The processor is configured to format the video of interactive content for rendering on the display screen. A pass-through connection that is configured to interface the video of interactive content to the HMD via the HMD output over the wireless connection. The pass-through connection maintains a left-eye and right-eye format for rendering the video of interactive content in a three-dimensional format in the HMD.

Methods and systems for social sharing head mounted display (HMD) content with a second screen

Systems and method for processing video frames generated for display on a head mounted display (HMD) to a second screen are provided. In one example, a client system having a processor for generating video frames in response to interactive game play of a video game using the HMD is provided. The generated video frames include in-band regions that include the video game content (VGC) to be displayed on the HMD. A processing device having an input interface for receiving the generated video frames. The processing device including extract logic for extracting a portion of the generated video frames, and a codec unit configured to process the portion of the generated video frames. Further included is a graphics processor unit (GPU) for processing the portion of the generated video frames and formatting for display on the second screen. The portion of the generated video frames processed by the GPU being provided to a first output interface of the processing device. The generated video frames received via the input interface being provided as a pass-through to a second output interface of the processing device. The first output interface of the processing device is connectable to the second screen and the second output interface of the processing device is connectable to the HMD.

A system and method for preparing entertainment software for reduced network delivery time includes analyzing entertainment software to identify a first stage implementing a subset of the functionality of the entertainment software such that the first stage is deliverable to an entertainment platform across a network more quickly than the delivery of the entire entertainment software, and preparing the identified first stage for download, such that the identified first stage may be downloaded and used on the entertainment platform.

Ambient light control and calibration systems and methods are provided herein. According to some embodiments, exemplary systems may include a console that includes a processor that executes logic to control a plurality of nodes to reproduce a virtual lighting scheme of a virtual environment in a physical user environment. Additionally, the system may include a plurality of nodes that each includes a light emitting device, a receiver that communicatively couples the node to the console, and a processor that executes logic to control the light emitting device.

A method for sharing content with other HMDs includes rendering content of a virtual environment scene on a display screen of a head-mounted display associated with a first user. The display screen rendering the virtual environment scene represents a virtual reality space of the first user. A request to share the virtual reality space of the first user is detected. The request targets a second user. In response to detecting acceptance of the request to share, the virtual reality space of the first user is shared with the second user. The sharing allows synchronizing the virtual environment scene rendered on the head mounted display of the first and the second users.

Systems and method for processing video frames generated for display on a head mounted display (HMD) to a second screen are provided. One example method includes receiving the video frames formatted for display on the HMD, and while passing the video frames to the HMD, selecting a portion of content from the video frames and processing the portion of the content for output to a second screen. The video frames viewed in the HMD are a result of interactive play executed for viewing on the HMD. The second screen configured to render an undistorted view of the interactive play on the HMD. In one example, the method and system enable additional content to be rendered on the second screen (e.g., second screen content, such as social interactive play with others, other non-game content, player-player communication, etc.).

To render graphics on multiple display devices, multiple computing platforms are networked and each computing platform separately executes an application rendering the graphics for a subset of the multiple display devices. A server including a first display device and a first computing platform generates a world space and renders from the generated world space a first viewing frustum for display on the first display device and a client coupled to the server receives a transmission of the world space position and renders a second viewing frustum for display on a second display device.

Methods and systems for resolving clock management issues in emulation of a target system on a host system are disclosed. A first set of code instructions of a target program is emulated to generate a first set of emulated instructions that emulate a first component on the host system. A second set of code instructions is emulated to generate a second set of emulated instructions that emulate a second component of the target system on the host system. The first set is executed based on a first clock (which may be a fixed clock) and the second set is executed based on a second clock (which may be a variable clock). The host system adjusts the first or second clock, execution of the first or second sets of instructions or a memory access to maintain a desired synchronization between the first and second sets of instructions.

Method and apparatus for resolving clock management issues in emulation involving both interpreted and translated code

An emulator schedules emulation threads for DMA emulation and other emulation functions in a time-multiplexed manner. Emulation threads are selected for execution according to a load balancing scheme. Non-DMA emulation threads are executed until their execution time period expires or they stall. DMA emulation thread execution is allowed to execute indefinitely until the DMA emulation thread stalls. The DMA emulation thread prefetches additional adjacent data in response to target computer system DMA requests. Upon receiving a target computer system DMA request, the DMA emulation thread first checks to the prefetched data to see if this data matches the request. If so, the request is fulfilled using the prefetched data. If the prefetched data does not match the target computer system DMA request, the DMA emulation thread fetches and stores the requested data and additional adjacent data for potential future use.

An emulation enhancement method in a first video game platform for enhancing execution of video games written for a second video game platform includes receiving an input signal written for the second video game platform, analyzing the input signal written for the second video game platform, intercepting a control signal from the input signal based on a set criteria, enhancing the control signal to generate an enhanced control signal for the first video game platform, and outputting the enhanced control signal. The control signal carries an audio effect component, a video effect component and a haptic effect component that are outputted on a user output display. Enhancing the control signal augments the audio effect component and the video effect component of the control signal and generates the enhanced control signal that utilizes additional platform capabilities on the first video game platform.
