System and techniques are described herein for providing variable rate touch sampling for touch sensors. In one illustrative example, a method of monitoring activity of a person includes obtaining one or more images of a user performing a first movement during a usage instance of an extended reality (XR) device; obtaining first biometric information of the user from at least one first biometric sensor of the XR device while the user performs the first movement; determining fatigue information of the user at least in part based on the one or more images and the first biometric information of the user; and determining an action based on the fatigue information.

Embodiments include methods for managing component temperatures in wearable devices by a remote computing device, such as an edge server, instructing changes in wearable device component processing loads, operations or operating modes. Methods performed in a wearable device receiving data from an edge server may include obtaining a plurality of temperature measurements from a plurality of hardware components, transmitting the temperature measurements to the edge server, receiving an instruction related to operations of an application executing on the processor of the wearable device, and adjusting an operating parameter based on the received instruction. Methods performed in the edge server include receiving the temperature measurements from the wearable device, identify one or more adjustments to operations of the plurality of hardware components based on the plurality of temperature measurements, and sending the wearable device an instruction to adjust operations of at least one of the plurality of hardware components.

The electronic device also includes noise control circuitry for generating a noise control signal based on a noise signal and the force. Another electronic device for controlling noise is also described. The electronic device includes a speaker that outputs a runtime ultrasound signal, an error microphone that receives a runtime ultrasound channel signal and noise control circuitry coupled to the speaker and to the error microphone. The noise control circuitry determines at least one calibration parameter and determines a runtime channel response based on the runtime ultrasound channel signal. The noise control circuitry also determines a runtime placement based on the runtime channel response and the at least one calibration parameter and determines at least one runtime active noise control parameter based on the runtime placement.

Examples of DOA estimation operations include operations based on phase differences between channels of the multichannel signal and operations based on a difference in gain between signals that are based on channels of the multichannel signal.

Systems, methods, apparatus, and computer-readable media for source localization using audible sound and ultrasound

A computing device includes a touch screen display with a plurality of force sensors, each of which provides a signal in response to contact with the touch screen display. Using force signals from the plurality of force sensors, a characteristic of the contact is determined, such as the magnitude of the force, the centroid of force and the shear force. The characteristic of the contact is used to select a command which is processed to control the computing device. For example, the command may be related to manipulating data displayed on the touch screen display, e.g., by adjusting the scroll speed or the quantity of data selected in response to the magnitude of force, or related to an operation of an application on the computing device, such as selecting different focal ranges, producing an alarm, or adjusting the volume of a speaker in response to the magnitude of force.

This disclosure relates to techniques for providing hands-free augmented reality on a wireless communication device (WCD). According to the techniques, an application processor within the WCD executes an augmented reality (AR) application to receive a plurality of image frames and convert the plurality of image frames into a single picture comprising the plurality of image frames stitched together to represent a scene. The WCD executing the AR application then requests AR content for the scene represented in the single picture from an AR database server, receives AR content for the scene from the AR database server, and processes the AR content to overlay the single picture for display to a user on the WCD. In this way, the user may comfortably look at the single picture with the overlaid AR content on a display of the WCD to learn more about the scene represented in the single picture.

Hands-free augmented reality for wireless communication devices

A mobile platform includes a microphone array and is capable of implementing beamforming to amplify or suppress audio information from a sound source. The sound source is indicated through a user input, such as pointing the mobile platform in the direction of the sound source or through a touch screen display interface. The mobile platform further includes orientation sensors capable of detecting movement of the mobile platform. When the mobile platform moves with respect to the sound source, the beamforming is adjusted based on the data from the orientation sensors so that beamforming is continuously implemented in the direction of the sound source. The audio information from the sound source may be included or suppressed from a telephone or video-telephony conversation. Images or video from a camera may be likewise controlled based on the data from the orientation sensors.

Variable beamforming with a mobile platform

A mobile platform includes a plurality of proximity sensors coupled to a housing including on the sides, front and back of the housing. Signals from the proximity sensors are analyzed to determine configuration of the proximity sensors that are activated. The configuration may be a sequence of proximity sensors that are activated, e.g., when a gesture is detected, or the locations of the proximity sensors that are activated when the mobile platform is held in different manners. Mobile platform applications associated with the configuration are determined and automatically launched. For example, the applications may include a camera application or short message service (SMS) application, as well as controlling telephony operations, controlling a music player, and providing status information. Information from an orientation sensor and/or ambient light detector may also be used to assist in determining the applications to be launched.

Layout design of proximity sensors to enable shortcuts

A computing device includes a touch screen display with at least one force sensor, each of which provides a signal in response to contact with the touch screen display. Using force signals from the at least one force sensor that result from contact with the touch screen, the operation of the computing device may be controlled, e.g. to select one of a plurality of overlaying interface elements, to prevent the unintended activation of suspect commands that require secondary confirmation, and to mimic the force requirements of real-world objects in augmented reality applications.

Exemplary charging device includes a processor and charging current for coupling to a battery. In an exemplary embodiment, the processor defines charging profiles for charging the battery at different charge rates. A profile can be selected based on a determinable time event and may be modified based on a charging history. Adjustable charging power is supplied to the battery at a power level, a charging duration, or a combination thereof based on the selected profile. A wireless power transmitter can also define charging profiles and charging histories for receivers that receive power from the transmitter based on an identifier from the receiver. The transmitter can select the charging profile based on a determinable time event and may be modified based on a charging history. The transmitter supplies power through the wireless power link at a power level, a charging duration, or a combination thereof based on the selected profile.

Example methods, apparatuses, and articles of manufacture are disclosed that may be utilized to pre-fetch and/or obtain information for use with mobile devices based, at least in part, on a gesture of a user and/or location of a mobile device. By way of example, a method may include detecting an arrival of a mobile device at a location; and pre-fetching, in response to the detection of the arrival, information in connection with executing one or more applications and/or functions on the mobile device. In certain implementations, a method may include processing signals received from at least one sensor at a mobile device; inferring, in response to the processing the signals, a likelihood of a user executing one or more applications and/or functions on the mobile device; and pre-fetching information in connection with the executing applications and/or functions on the mobile device based, at least in part, on the likelihood.
