Mutual authentication systems and methods are described that comprise an authenticating server that is available across a network and capable of authenticating a user based on credentials provided by the user. An embeddable object provided by the authenticating server and containing a passphrase that identifies the server to the user. A credentials entry mechanism identifies the user to the authenticating server. A user device displays an Outer Page that can request authentication. The authenticating server verifies the source of the request and provides the passphrase to the user device. The display of the passphrase confirms the identity of the authenticating server to the user. The source of the request can be verified using a secure cookie. The embeddable object can be provided in a second page and can prevent display of the passphrase if user input is not directed to the second page.

Mutual authentication

Embodiments are described that leverage commonly used HTML tags to enable the transfer of large quantities of data in a network. Embodiments are described where large amounts of data can be sent to a server by fragmenting data into small portions and encoding each portion as part of a URL contained in, for example, the src attribute of an &#x3c;img&#x3e; tag. The path of this URL can refer to a predetermined resource contained on the server that is responsible for retrieving fragments of data from the requested URL. Each fragment of data can be sent together with whatever additional pieces of information are required by the server to correctly reassemble the portions to obtain the original, defragmented data. Methods are described that enable a client to communicate an arbitrarily large amount of data to a server using only the GET method.

Method and apparatus for transmitting arbitrarily large amounts of data over the internet

An apparatus, method, and computer-readable media capable of encrypting and unencrypting secure documents with multiple passwords and/or fallback keys. Embodiments allow documents to unencrypt themselves or be able to be unencrypted with multiple passwords. Methods embodiments include the creation of self-encrypted documents that provide for multiple password decryption, and may include the automatic generation of at least one fallback key to facilitate unencryption of documents.

Platform independent zero footprint decompression

A method for electronically generating and assigning a photograph is provided. The method employs a server-based control program and preferably utilizes an Internet web browser to interface with users. The control program receives a photograph request from a user and issues a user identification and an access code for that specific user. The control program then receives a photograph specification from the user, the specification detailing the criteria for the photograph, such as size, style and media. The user may be a single customer or a group. The user searches a photographer data base for a photographer that corresponds to user's needs. The program then transmits the specifications to the selected photographers. The control program co-ordinates the user's review and/or approval of submissions by the photographer in response to the user's specifications. When the photographic assignment submittal is finally approved as submitted, the transaction is closed, with the control program performing appropriate notification and billing functions. The time and complexity involved in photographic assignment is significantly reduced, while still meeting the needs of the users in providing a private and secure photographic assignment. For each progressing project, the photographic assignment control program can receive revisions and comments from any number of users, and track the revision history of a current project or a past project, from initiation to completion.

Method of performing an interactive photographic assignment

A password scheme wherein a node is provided a configuration message at start-up which configures a shell of the node directing a search order of network password files. The node, group, and network password files are then transparently searched in the order specified by the configuration message.
