Certain examples described herein relate to replaceable production material containers for additive manufacturing systems. In an example of a replaceable production material container, an electrical storage device provides at least one production material characteristic to an element of an additive manufacturing system. In certain examples, the electrical storage device stores a range parameter for indicating a production material characteristic offset value in a plurality of production material characteristic offset values. In certain examples, the electrical storage device stores a proportion parameter for determining the at least one production material characteristic on the basis of the production material characteristic offset value.

Container for an additive manufacturing system

A replaceable printer component includes a memory device to store a tag encryption mask and data. The data is stored in a plurality of blocks of the memory device wherein each block is defined by a tag. The tag encryption mask indicates an encryption status of each block of the memory device defined by the tag. The replaceable printer component includes a communication link to communicatively link the memory device to a printer controller when the replaceable printer component is installed in a printing system. The tag encryption mask is stored within a header of the memory device. Each tag defines a type and a length of the data stored in the blocks.

The data is stored in a plurality of portions of the memory where each portion is defined by a tag. A method for storing data in an electrical storage device associated with a printing component of an ink-jet printing system. The electrical storage device is responsive to printing system control signals for transferring information between the printing component and the ink-jet printing system. The electrical storage device includes a write once portion, a non-protected portion, and a protected portion. The write once portion or the protected portion contain information indicative of a refill ink in the printing component. Installation of the printing component into the printing system enables the printing system to alter information in the write once portion or the protected portion to indicate that the refill ink in the printing component has been used.

Both the protected and non-protected electrical storage portions are responsive to read control signals for transferring information stored in the protected and non-protected electrical storage portions, respectively, to the ink-jet printing system.

The present disclosure relates to an ink jet printing system configured for receiving replaceable printing components. The ink jet printing system includes a replaceable printing component having an electrical storage device associated therewith. The electrical storage device has a data field therein specifying data organization within the electrical storage device. The present disclosure relates to replaceable printing component for an ink-jet printing system having at least one replaceable printing component. The replaceable printing component includes an electrical storage device responsive to printing system control signals for transferring information between the printing component and the ink-jet printing system. The electrical storage device includes a tag family identifier for selecting a family of tags from a plurality of families of tags. Also included is a plurality of tags associated with replaceable consumable parameters. Each of the plurality of tags have a tag value associated therewith. Method and apparatus for identifying parameters in a replaceable printing component

A method and apparatus for detecting the end of life of a print cartridge for a thermal ink jet printer determines the status of the print cartridge and warns the user if the print cartridge is at or near the end of its useful life. In a first mode of operation, an initial temperature of a printhead contained in the print cartridge is checked after a threshold amount of ink is expelled from the printhead, such as for a high density print swath or during a service routine. This initial temperature is then compared with a maximum initial temperature. If the initial temperature exceeds the maximum initial temperature, a warning about the status of the print cartridge is sent to a user. If the initial temperature does not exceed the maximum initial temperature, the user is informed of the remaining life portion of the print cartridge. In a second mode of operation, a final temperature is checked after a period of time elapses since the threshold amount of ink is expelled from the printhead. This final temperature is then compared to a maximum final temperature. If the final temperature exceeds the maximum final temperature, a warning about the status of the print cartridge is sent to a user. If the final temperature is less than the maximum final temperature, the user is informed of the remaining life portion of the print cartridge. In a third mode of operation, the heat transfer efficiency of the print cartridge is calculated. If the heat transfer efficiency of the print cartridge is below a minimum heat transfer efficiency, a warning about the status of the print cartridge is sent to a user. If the heat transfer efficiency exceeds a minimum heat transfer efficiency, the user is informed of the remaining life portion of the print cartridge.

Method and apparatus for detecting the end of life of a print cartridge for a thermal ink jet printer

An ink-jet printing system that includes a printer portion and a replaceable ink container. The printer portion is for depositing ink on media in response to control signals. The printer portion is configured for receiving a supply of ink. The replaceable ink container is for providing a supply of ink to the printer portion. The replaceable ink container includes an electrical storage device for providing parameters to the printer portion. The electrical storage device includes an ink container scale parameter for selecting an ink container volume range from a plurality of ink container volume ranges. Also included is a fill proportion parameter for specifying a fill proportion for the selected ink volume range. The printer portion determines an ink volume associated with the ink container based on the fill proportion parameter and the selected ink volume range. A method of storing ink container parameters in the electrical storage device includes determining the ink container scale and fill proportion parameters. These parameters are then stored on the electrical storage device.
