Disclosed herein are methods and systems for upgrading (for example, removing heteroatoms, metals, or metalloids) an oil composition derived or extracted from a biomass. The upgraded oil composition can be used to make a desired product, for example, a fuel product.

Methods of preparing oil compositions for fuel refining

A method of extracting oil from algae by drying algae paste to a predetermined moisture content, contacting the algae paste with a polar solvent to make an algae-solvent solution and extracting oils from the algae paste into a solvent-oil solution, and separating extracted algae from the solvent-oil solution. An oil of whole and unhydrolyzed phospholipids, whole and unhydrolyzed glycolipids, lysolipids, and carotenoids extracted by the above method. An omega-3 fatty acid of docosahexanoic acids (DHAs) and eicosapentaenoic acids (EPAs) extracted from the above method. Isolated nutraceutical grade and pharmaceutical grade oil derived from algae and being free of toxins extracted by the above method. Isolated oil derived from algae including at least one omega-3 fatty acid of DHA and EPA at least partially in the form of whole and unhydrolyzed phospholipids and whole and unhydrolyzed glycolipids extracted by the above method.

Algae extraction process

A copolymer composition including a copolymer having repeat units of structural formula I: where X is selected from &#x2014;CH&#x2014;, &#x2014;CH&#x2014;CH&#x2014; and O; m is an integer from 0 to 5; and each occurrence of R-Rare independently selected from H; Cto Clinear, branched, and cyclic alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, alkaryl, alkenyl and alkynyl that can include one or more hetero atoms selected from O, N, and Si; a group that contains an epoxy functionality; &#x2014;(CH)C(O)OR; &#x2014;(CH)C(O)OR; &#x2014;(CH)OR; &#x2014;(CH)OC(O)R; &#x2014;(CH)C(O)R; &#x2014;(CH)OC(O)OR; and any combination of two of R, R, R, and Rlinked together by a linking group. A portion of the repeat units having structural formula I contain at least one epoxy functional pendant group. The copolymer composition can be included with a material that photonically forms a catalyst in a photodefinable dielectric composition, which can be used to form a photodefinable layer on a substrate.

Polymerized cycloolefins using transition metal catalyst and end products thereof

A catalytic composition, including a neutral metal-pair complex, is disclosed, along with a method for its preparation. A method for the polymerization of ethylenically unsaturated monomers using the catalytic composition, and the addition polymers produced thereby are also disclosed.

Oligomers of polycyclic olefin monomers, and optionally allylic or olefinic monomers, and a method of making such oligomers that includes reacting polycyclic olefin monomers in the presence of a Ni or Pd containing catalyst, or in the case of allylic monomers in the presence of a free radical initiator. The oligomers can be included in photoresist compositions as dissolution rate modifiers.
