A compression pump has a bladder that is supported during the compression stroke on the low-pressure side of the bladder, and that can have a compression cavity that is fully evacuated during each stroke. The compression pump can have a housing with an entrance section, a center section, and a crown section. The entrance and center sections define seats to receive bridge bearings (of bridges each having a rod and a bearing). A piston can have an inlet section, a middle section, and a head section. The inlet and middle sections define seats to receive groove bearings. The bridges and groove bearings structurally hold a support structure, which supports the bladder. The support structure can be a slide support that changes shape as the piston moves within the housing. The piston head can have a valve seat that the inlet valve head is received within when it is closed.

Compression pump

An electrical receptacle is provided having electrical connection screws with a shaft, a drive head and an intermediate head. The shaft has a threaded end that is suitable to be selectably turned into the receptacle until electrical wires are pressed between the receptacle and the intermediate head. The drive head is opposite the threaded end of the shaft. A seat is provided between the drive head and intermediate head. A cover is provided having prongs that engage the screws in the seats. The width of the seats provides a lateral tolerance to engagement of the prong and screw. The prongs can be flared at their ends to engage the seat and the prong bodies are held in contact against the seat to provide a secure electrical connection. Electronics can be embedded within the cover so that it glows or shines.

Quick connecting outlet cover and associated components

A valve assembly is adjustable in three independent ways allowing it to provide a variable input volume. The valve assembly has a base and an entrance plate. An outer guide, an inner guide and a shaft, each with a passage, are held together and the shaft is rotatable between the guides. The valve is open when the passages of the inner guide plate and shaft are aligned and closed when the passages are not aligned. The shaft RPM determines how many times per minute the valve opens. The open/closed ratio of the valve assembly determines how long the valve is open during each half revolution. The location of the shaft up or down in relationship to the inner guide determines what percentage of possible flow passes through the valve during each half revolution. The valve assembly can be used with either a gas or liquid medium.

Valve assembly

The disclosure provides for an adsorbent bed assembly for separation of gaseous mixtures. The assembly includes a body defining an interior cavity. The body includes an outer shell, and first and second ends engaged with the outer shell that include inputs/outputs. A central support structure is positioned within the interior cavity and is engaged with the body or forms a portion thereof. Anti-telescoping devices are positioned about the central support structure, at least one of which is affixed to the central support structure. Each anti-telescoping device includes a plurality of spokes extending within the interior cavity from or proximate the central support structure towards the outer shell.

Rapid cycle adsorbent bed

The pump has a body having a heat sink on the body underside. An extension rises from the body. A guide is provided for a piston, which together move up and down relative to the body and extension. The pump is within a tank filled with heating liquid. The heating liquid is separated (directly or indirectly) from a gas cavity with a bladder. The pump can have a coolant cavity partially bordered by a bladder that separates the heating liquid from the gas. A coolant then flows through the cavity over the top of the bladder keeping it cool and preventing bladder degradation. A high temperature liquid system maintains the temperature of the heating liquid. A coolant system maintains the temperature of the coolant. A pressure equalization system maintains balance in pressure between the heating liquid and coolant. A steam system is provided as is a control system.

Isothermal pump with improved characteristics

An apparatus for replacing a diseased cardiac valve is movable from a radially collapsed configuration to a radially expanded configuration. The apparatus comprises an expandable support member and a prosthetic valve secured therein. The main body portion extends between first and second end portions and includes an outer circumferential surface, a circumferential axis extending about the circumferential surface, and a plurality of wing members spaced apart from one another by an expandable region. Each of the wing members includes first and second end portions and a flexible middle portion extending between the end portions. The second end portion is integrally formed with the uyimain body portion. The first end portion is adjacent the circumferential axis and substantially flush with the outer circumferential surface in the radially collapsed configuration. The first end portion extends substantially radial to the outer circumferential surface in the radially expanded configuration.

Apparatus and method for replacing a diseased cardiac valve

The present invention relates to a heat engine having shafts with gears, position gears and a plurality of actuators. Energy is harnessed from the first shaft as it rotates. The second shaft can be coupled to the first shaft to transfer energy from the second shaft to the first shaft. One coupler is a chain. Position gears orient the chain wherein the rotation of the second shaft is inverted upon the first shaft so that the first shaft has a constant rotational orientation. Each actuator is preferably a double acting actuator that can supply force to both push and pull upon a belt connected to the actuator rod. A 1-way clutch and gear connects the belt to each shaft wherein the belt (driven by actuator) imparts a positive force upon the first shaft on the out stroke and a positive force upon the second shaft on the return stroke.

Heat engine with linear actuators

The present invention is an engine having a housing, a rotor and a plurality of vanes. The housing has a cavity with an outer wall that has an inlet region, an insulation or hot region, a thermal separator, a chill region, a work region and a return region. The vanes define cavities that rotate between the rotor and the housing. Hot gas enters in the inlet region, which can have a slot. The cavity is full of hot gas in the insulation region. The temperature is reduced in the chill region, which causes the pressure to likewise drop to a relative low pressure. In the work region, the diameter of the outer wall is reduced. The pressure differential between successive cavities causes the rotor to turn in the direction of the decreasing wall length, whereby work can then be extracted from the engine.

Reverse vane engine extracting work from hot gas entering an engine at an ambient pressure

The present invention relates to a vane heat engine and in particular to a vane heat engine efficiently utilizing potential energy and having an adjustable expansion chamber wall so that the volume of the expansion chamber is adjustable. The engine has a housing with an inlet and an outlet. A rotor with a plurality of vanes is provided to rotate within the housing. An adjuster is provided for adjusting the location of an expansion chamber wall. The position or location of the expansion chamber wall determines the volume within a plurality of compartments bound by the rotor, the expansion chamber wall and two of the plurality of vanes. The expansion wall can be made of a plurality of members, whereby the expansion wall is flexible along its longitudinal dimension yet strong perpendicular to the longitudinal dimension.

Vane heat engine

Described herein are expandable center arrangements for use in a tubular reactor, such as a reformer, for enhancing heat transfer and reactor efficiency. The expandable center arrangement can include a cone being expandable in the radial direction and an expansion weight for promoting expansion of the cone. The cone and expansion weight can be slidably arranged on a center support. Expansion of the cones in the radial direction forces reactor components radially outward to an outer tube that houses the reactor components and expandable center arrangement. Expansion of reactor components towards the outer tube promotes heat for carrying out catalytic reactions.

Expanding centers for stackable structural reactors

A reactor for carrying out catalytic reactions. The reactor includes a reactor component optionally arranged on a central rod in a reactor tube. The reactor component can have fluid ducts for directing fluid flow through the reactor. The fluid ducts are effective for increasing heat transfer in the reactor. The reactor component can further have a washer attached to a top or bottom surface for directing fluid flow.

Stackable structural reactors

A wire standoff suitable for use in a tubular reactor, such as a reformer, is described. The wire standoff includes a portion or segment positioned between an outer reactor tube and one or more reactor components located within the tube. The reactor components and the outer tube are prevented from coming into directed contact with one another by the positioning of the wire standoff. The wire standoff can be secured to a reactor component at one of its ends or to a washer located between stacked reactor components. Prevention of the reactor components from contact with the outer tube promotes fluid flow through the reactor and can enhance heat transfer and reactor efficiency for carrying out catalytic reactions.

Wire standoffs for stackable structural reactors

The present invention relates to a heat engine having a housing. A generally triangular shaped rotor can drive an offset crank as it eccentrically rotates within the housing. Two inlets with valves and two exhausts are provided. The volume between each face of the rotor and the housing defines three expansion chambers. Six power cycles are provided (one by each expansion chamber times two inlets) per revolution of the rotor. Each valve controls the length of time that high pressure gas is allowed to enter each expansion chamber. The valves are controlled by a processor and close when enough pressure is supplied so that the pressures inside and outside the expansion chamber are equal when the chamber is fully expanded just prior to exhaust. Gates can provide a mechanical advantage to the rotor by reducing the amount of pressure applied to the back side of the fulcrum.
