Aspects of the application relate to protecting the privacy of a user of a dispatching service for driverless vehicles. For example, a client computing device may send a request for a vehicle, the request identifying a location of the client computing device. Location information identifying a current location of a vehicle dispatched to the location of the client computing device is received in response to the request. A camera view is displayed on a display of the client computing device, the camera view corresponding to information in a field of view of a camera of the client computing device. When current location of the vehicle is within the field of view of the camera and a threshold distance of the location of the client device, an indicator is displayed on the display at a location corresponding to the current location of the vehicle.

Augmented reality display to preserve user privacy

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to protecting the privacy of a user of a dispatching service for driverless vehicles. For example, a request for a vehicle identifying user information is received. A client computing device may be identified based on the user information. In response to the request, a driverless vehicle may be dispatched to the location of the client device. Signaling information may be generated based on a set of rules including a first rule that the signaling information does not identify, indirectly or directly, the user as well as a second rule that the signaling information does not identify, indirectly or directly, the user information. The location of the client computing device and the signaling information may be sent to the driverless vehicle for display. In addition, the signaling information may also be sent to the client computing device for display.

Unique signaling for vehicles to preserve user privacy

A method includes providing, for each respective audio channel of a plurality of audio channels provided by an operating system of a computing device, a set of successive audio processing stages to apply to the respective audio channel. The method also includes providing, by the operating system, an application programming interface (API) configured to set a plurality of parameters for adjusting the set of successive audio processing stages for each respective audio channel. The method additionally includes receiving, via the API and from an application running on the computing device, one or more values for one or more parameters of the plurality of parameters. The method further includes adjusting, by the operating system, the plurality of audio channels based on the received one or more values for the one or more parameters.

For example, a client computing device may send a request for a vehicle, the request identifying a location of the client computing device. Location information identifying a current location of a vehicle dispatched to the location of the client computing device is received in response to the request. Unique signaling for autonomous vehicles to preserve user privacy

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to anonymizing user identity from nearby vehicles, such as autonomous vehicles, that may be gathering sensor data. In one aspect, one or more computing devices of an autonomous vehicle may receive location information identifying a geographic location. Further, the one or more computing devices may receive sensor data captured by one or more sensors of the vehicle and determine whether any of the sensor data is within a threshold distance from the geographic location. Based on the determination, the one or more computing devices may filter the sensor data that is within the threshold distance and send the filtered sensor data to one or more server computing devices for further processing.
