A structured optical fiber cabling system configured to connect first and second layers of switches in a mesh network is disclosed. The system comprises groups of fiber optic ports arranged side-by-side, with each group including a plurality of the fiber optic ports distributed in a vertical direction. A plurality of fiber optic jumper assemblies each include a horizontal segment and a plurality of legs and fiber optic connectors extending from the horizontal segment, with each fiber optic connector configured to connect to a corresponding fiber optic port of the plurality of the fiber optic ports at the same vertical location in each group of the array.

A structured optical fiber cabling system configured to connect first and second layers of switches in a mesh network is disclosed. The system comprises a plurality of fiber optic modules each including a plurality of first fiber optic ports distributed in a vertical direction when the fiber optic modules are installed in a chassis. A plurality of fiber optic jumper assemblies each include a horizontal segment and a plurality of legs and fiber optic connectors extending from the horizontal segment, with each fiber optic connector configured to connect to a corresponding fiber optic port of the plurality of first fiber optic ports at the same vertical location in each fiber optic module.

Structured fiber optic cabling system including adapter modules and orthogonally arranged jumper assemblies

An optical interconnect module comprises a housing including a front-facing portion that includes a first face and a second face, wherein the first face of the front-facing portion is angled relative to the second face of the front-facing portion. The housing also includes a rear-facing portion opposing the front facing portion, the rear-facing portion including a first face and a second face, wherein the first face of the rear-facing portion is angled relative to the second face of the rear-facing portion. The housing further includes an internal chamber disposed between the front-facing portion and the rear-facing portion. A first plurality of multifiber connectors is disposed on the front-facing portion of the housing, and a first plurality of multifiber connectors disposed on the rear-facing portion of the housing. Each connector of the first plurality of multifiber connectors disposed on the front-facing portion is optically connected to each connector of the first plurality of multifiber connectors disposed on the rear-facing portion by at least a pair of optical fibers.

Optical interconnect assemblies and associated systems for large-scale spine and leaf topologies

Bi-directional data center architectures employing a jacketless trunk cable are disclosed. The bi-directional data center architecture includes first and second coupling panels respectively having first adapters and second adapters. The architecture also includes a plurality of sub-racks having sub-rack adapters, and a jacketless trunk cable that includes a plurality of sub-unit sections, with each sub-unit section carrying one or more optical fibers. The plurality of sub-unit sections are configured to optically connect corresponding first and second adapters of the first and second coupling panels to the sub-rack adapters such that every optical fiber in each sub-unit section is used to establish an optical connection.

Bi-directional data center architectures including a jacketless trunk cable and methods of forming the same

Bi-directional data center architectures employing a jacketless trunk cable are disclosed. The bi-directional data center architecture includes first and second coupling panels respectively operably connected to first and second trunk cables, wherein the first and second coupling panels respectively have first adapters and second adapters. The architecture also includes a plurality of sub-racks having sub-rack adapters, and a jacketless trunk cable that includes a plurality of sub-units, with each sub-unit carrying one or more optical fibers. The plurality of sub-units are configured to optically connect corresponding first and second adapters of the first and second coupling panels to the sub-rack adapters such that every optical fiber in each sub-unit is used to establish an optical connection.

Bi-directional data center architectures employing a jacketless trunk cable having sub-units with connectorized sections, and methods of forming the same

Fiber optic connector assemblies and subassembly are disclosed. In one embodiment, a fiber optic connector subassembly includes a body and a pivot arm. The body includes a first body shell and a second body shell having a joint portion. The first body shell is coupled to the second body shell. The pivot arm is rotatably coupled to the joint portion. In another embodiment, a fiber optic connector assembly includes a plurality of cable assemblies, a housing, a body, and a pivot arm. Each cable assembly includes a fiber optic cable having a plurality of optical fibers, and a ferrule. The plurality of optical fibers is coupled to the ferrule. The housing receives the ferrules of the plurality of cable assemblies. The body is coupled to the housing. The pivot arm is rotatably coupled to the body. The plurality of optical fibers is disposed within the pivot arm.

An optical interconnection assembly for a spine-and-leaf network is disclosed. The optical interconnection assembly has spine MF components and leaf MF components. The spine MF components are optically connected to spine MF components of spine switches via spine patch cords. The leaf MF components are optically connected to leaf MF components of leaf switches via leaf patch cords. An array of duplex fiber optic cables serves to optically connect every spine MF component to every leaf MF component so that every spine switch is optically connected to every leaf switch. The optical interconnection assembly facilitates network scale out without the multifiber connections having to be broken up into multiple duplex connections using duplex fiber optic cables.

A fiber optic harness assembly includes first through sixth groups of optical fibers and first and second connector sets. The groups of optical fibers are arranged in data transmission pairs such that one group of each pair is configured to transmit data and the other group is configured to receive data. The pairs of the groups are organized such that a first pair includes the first and second groups, a second pair includes the third and fourth groups, and a third pair includes the fifth and sixth groups. The optical fibers of the groups are sized and routed to facilitate low-skew and efficient parallel optics connections for high-speed data transmission.

Attachment mechanisms configured to be employed to attach a rear housing section to a fiber optic housing, and related assemblies and methods are disclosed. The rear housing section and the fiber optic housing may be part of fiber optic equipment configured to support fiber optic connections of a fiber optic network. The attachment mechanism is configured to be attached and extend from the rear housing section of the fiber optic housing while maintaining the same installed U space of the housing. The attachment mechanism may include a spring plunger which may releasably maintain the rear housing section in a position to allow fasteners to removably attach the rear housing section to the fiber optic housing. In this manner, the rear housing section may be attached to and removed from the fiber optic housing in an efficient manner to minimize downtime for the fiber optic network.

Attachment mechanisms employed to attach a rear housing section to a fiber optic housing, and related assemblies and methods

Fiber optic equipment assemblies employing non-U-width-sized housings supporting U-sized fiber optic modules, and related methods are disclosed. In one embodiment, the assembly may include the non-U-width-sized housing, at least one fiber optic equipment support member, and at least one U-sized fiber optic module. The non-U-width-sized housing may include an enclosure forming an internal cavity. The at least one fiber optic equipment support member may be disposed within the internal cavity and configured to support at least one U-sized fiber optic module. The at least one U-sized fiber optic module may be disposed within the at least one fiber optic equipment support member which may be disposed within the internal cavity. The at least one U-sized fiber optic module may have a height dimension wherein at least three of the at least one U-sized fiber optic module may be disposed within a U-unit height of unity.

Fiber optic equipment assemblies employing non-U-width-sized housings and related methods

High-density fiber optic modules and fiber optic module housings and related equipment are disclosed. In certain embodiments, a front opening of a fiber optic module and/or fiber optic module housing is configured to receive fiber optic components. The width and/or height of the front opening can be provided according to a designed relationship to a width and/or height, respectively, of a front side of a main body of the fiber optic module and/or fiber optic module housing. In this manner, a high density of fiber optic components and/or connections for a given space of the front side of the fiber optic module can be supported by the fiber optic module and/or fiber optic module housing. The fiber optic modules and fiber optic module housings disclosed herein can be disposed in fiber optic equipment including but not limited to a fiber optic chassis and a fiber optic equipment drawer.

High-density fiber optic modules and module housings and related equipment

Furcation mounting structures for securing a plurality of furcation bodies of respective fiber optic cable assembles within the fiber optic shelf are disclosed. In one embodiment, the furcation mounting structure has a first type of aperture for attaching a first type of clip for securing a furcation body and a second type of aperture for securing a second type of clip for securing a furcation body. Consequently, the furcation management structures disclosed advantageously allow the mounting of different types of clips thereto. In other embodiments, the furcation mounting structure is mounted within the fiber optic shelf or assembly.

A cable routing guide attached to a fiber optic apparatus, such as a module positioned on a fiber optic equipment tray is disclosed. The cable routing guide is adapted to receive a length of at least one fiber optic cable intended to be connected to a cable connection point, such as a fiber optic adapter disposed on the module. The cable routing guide allows the at least one fiber optic cable to move in response to the fiber optic equipment tray or the module moving between a first position and a second position in a manner such that the length of the at least one fiber optic cable from the cable routing guide to the fiber optic adapter remains substantially unchanged. Moreover, the at least one fiber optic cable that is received by the cable routing guide may be retained and maintained by the cable routing guide without being tensed or stressed. In this manner, the at least one fiber optic cable that is routed to and through the fiber optic apparatus may not be affected by the movement of the module frame, the module, and/or the adapter between the first and second positions.
