The present invention provides a laminiferous nonwoven fabric with a high woodpulp content suitable for use in wipes, absorbent articles and other applications, and a method of making the same. The laminiferous nonwoven comprises 3 layers bonded together, where the outer layers are lightweight meltspun webs and the middle layer comprises mainly woodpulp fibers. Each of the first (), second () and third () nonwoven layer are preferably first formed separately and individually to be self-supported webs, whereafter the three self-supported webs are brought together essentially immediately before bonding them together. When used as a substrate for wet wipes, the inventive fabric exhibits a combination of several useful properties; good wet and dry softness and bulk, good wet abrasion resistance and low wet linting propensity, and where the majority raw material is woodpulp.

A male component of a male and female fastening system, such as a hook and loop fastener, that can remain fastened to a female component under high levels of shear force. The male component has a backing material with projections extending from the backing material at an angle toward the direction of fastener force. The combination of the male component with a standard female loop component results in a secure fastening system. The combination of the male component with a standard female loop component is particularly beneficial when used in absorbent articles.

Disclosed herein is a water dispersible pantiliner which has a triggerably dispersible body side facing liner, a garment side facing baffle, and, optionally, a triggerably dispersible absorbent core disposed between the liner and baffle. The garment baffle may be biodegradable. In one embodiment, the invention has a peel strip overlaying a garment attachment adhesive layer which adhesively attaches the peel strip to the clothing of a wearer on one side and to one side of a baffle on the other. The baffle is in turn attached on a second side to a body facing side with a construction adhesive. The body facing side may be made from multiple layers such as a body side liner and absorbent layer.

Disclosed is an adhesive that exhibits desired oil-resistance and processing properties. The adhesive is suitable for use in elastic composites and disposable absorbent products. In one embodiment, the adhesive exhibits the following properties: an Elastic Modulus value that is greater than about 4.times.10.sup.5 dynes per square centimeter at 40.degree. C. across the frequency range of about 0.1 to about 100 radians per second; an Elastic Modulus in Oil value that is greater than about 4.times.10.sup.5 dynes per square centimeter at 40.degree. C. across the frequency range of about 0.1 to about 100 radians per second; a Viscosity value of less than about 40,000 centipoise at a temperature of about 275.degree. F.; and a Viscosity value of greater than about 60,000 centipoise at a temperature of about 250.degree. F.

Oil-resistant disposable absorbent product

An absorbent article comprises a first, liquid-permeable carrier layer and at least a second carrier layer. A carrier attaching mechanism secures together the carrier layers to provide substantially attached zones and a multiplicity of substantially unattached zones thereof. The substantially unattached zones provide a plurality of pocket regions, and high-absorbency material is located within the pocket regions to provide an absorbent laminate having a laminate length and a laminate width. A selected plurality of the pocket regions can, for example, be configured with an elongate shape having a major axis length and a relatively shorter minor axis width. The selected plurality of elongate pocket regions is included within a dispersed pocket array having a non-contiguous, labyrinth configuration of pockets. For example the pocket array can include a plurality of regular or irregular rows of pocket regions, and immediately adjacent rows portions of the array can have pocket regions which are arranged in a non-contiguous and staggered configuration. In particular aspects of the invention, the carrier attaching mechanism can be water-sensitive.

A water sensitive attaching mechanism secures together the carrier layers to provide substantially attached zones and substantially unattached zones thereof. The substantially unattached zones provide a plurality of pocket regions, and a high absorbency material is located within the pocket regions to provide an absorbent laminate. A secondary attaching mechanism secures together the carrier layers along selected secondary attachment regions and provides a substantially water-insensitive connection therebetween. The secondary attachment regions are substantially restricted to locations spaced from the pocket regions.

A carrier attaching mechanism, such as a water-sensitive adhesive, secures together the carrier layers to provide substantially attached zones and a multiplicity of substantially unattached zones thereof. Matrix fibers are dispersed within the high-absorbency material in the pocket regions, and the matrix fibers are present in a selected amount which, in particular aspects of the invention, can be within the range of about 0.1-10 weight percent, as determined with respect to the total weight of the absorbent material contained in the pockets.
