A medical implant for occluding a left atrial appendage may include an expandable framework configured to shift radially between a first configuration and a second configuration, and an occlusive element secured to the expandable framework. The framework includes a plurality of strut groups, each strut group comprising first and second joints, and first, second, and third struts. The first and second struts move laterally from a first position in the first configuration to a second position in the second configuration. The third strut is configured to shift radially from a first position in the first configuration to a second position in the second configuration. The first and second struts and a majority of the third struts of each strut group may be oriented parallel to each other in the first configuration and nonparallel to each other in the second configuration.

An occlusive implant system may include a catheter having a lumen extending therethrough, a core wire slidably and rotatably disposed within the lumen, the core wire having a threaded member disposed at a distal end, and a medical implant having an expandable frame, an occlusive element disposed on the frame, and a threaded insert coupled to a proximal portion of the frame, wherein the threaded member is removably coupled to the threaded insert.

An occlusive implant system may include a catheter having a lumen extending from a proximal opening to a distal opening, a core wire slidably disposed within the lumen, and an occlusive implant having an expandable framework configured to shift between a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration, and an occlusive element disposed on the expandable framework. An example occlusive implant is disclosed. The example occlusive implant includes a framework including a projection and a cushioning member coupled to the framework, the cushioning member including a first end region and a second end region opposite the first end region. Additionally, the first end region is coupled to the projection, the second end region is coupled to the framework and the cushioning member includes a curved portion designed to minimize trauma to a target site.

An occlusion device (e.g., for treatment of the left atrial appendage) includes a framework and a biocompatible covering disposed over at least a part of the framework. The framework may include a proximal portion, a middle portion, and a distal portion, wherein: the proximal portion includes a first hub that has a fixed first diameter; the middle portion has a second diameter and includes a plurality of beams extending from the first hub to a distal portion, wherein each of the plurality of beams is connected to an adjacent beam by a first circumferentially extending column of strut pairs; and the distal portion has a third diameter. In one or more embodiments, the framework includes improved circumferential strength and minimizes foreshortening.
