A system () and method is provided that facilitates controlling signaling devices along railroad tracks in electrified territory. The system may include a first track circuit transmitter () connectable to a first end () of a first block () of a railroad track (). A first processor () may be configured to determine a first signaling aspect () corresponding to a visible light signal outputted by a first signaling device () and cause the first track circuit transmitter to transmit a first code () corresponding to the first signaling aspect via a first AC carrier signal () through rails () of the first block of the railroad track. The system may also include a first track circuit receiver () connectable to a second end () of the first block of the railroad track, which is configured to receive the first AC carrier signal through the rails of the first block of the railroad track and demodulate the first code from the first AC carrier signal. A second processor () may be configured to determine a second signaling aspect () based at least in part on the first code that was demodulated and cause a second signaling device () to output a visible signal corresponding to the second signaling aspect.

A lamp driver card to control lighting of a lamp load located on a wayside of a railway system is provided. The lamp driver card comprises a light source controller module including at least one channel having a semiconductor switch or a relay to receive power on a copper cable sized at a selected gauge size from a power source to turn ON or OFF the lamp load. The light source controller module is configured to support a multi-voltage rating range operation extended from a limited voltage to an extended operating voltage and a current rating to light the lamp load such that the light source controller module is compatible with relatively higher DC/AC voltages. The copper cable is sized at the selected gauge size of a first size to a second size based on a selected voltage rating of a first voltage system or a second multi-voltage ranges system.

A communication system may wirelessly receive. A crossing controller may check the message to determine whether the message is a valid vital communication. In response to determining the message is the valid vital communication, the crossing controller may deactivate at least one crossing traffic control element. While the at least one crossing traffic control element is deactivated, the crossing controller may activate the at least one crossing traffic control element in response to receiving a command to activate the at least one crossing traffic control element at the communication system. In response to determining the message is not the valid vital communication, the crossing controller may activate the at least one crossing traffic control element.

A lamp control system may include a plurality of parallel lamp modules. Each parallel lamp module may include control electronics configured to selectively couple a DC power source with a load to selectively drive the load. The lamp control system may include at least one control circuit configured to send a same control command to the control electronics of each of the parallel lamp modules at the same time so that each of the control electronics is configured to selectively drive the load identically. The lamp control system may include at least one relay configured to selectively couple one of the parallel lamp modules with the load and decouple each of the remaining parallel lamp modules from the load so that the control electronics of the one parallel lamp module selectively drive the load according to the control command.

A programmable frequency termination shunt suitable to terminate a portion of a railroad track circuit. The programmable frequency termination shunt includes a multi-frequency shunt circuit having a plurality of selectable shunt frequencies and a processor coupled to the multi-frequency shunt circuit. The processor is adapted to set the termination frequency of the shunt by selecting one of the shunt frequencies of the multi-frequency shunt circuit. The shunt is powered by signals transmitted along the rails of the railroad track and can be programmed in response to signals from a rail-based communication link or a wireless communication link.

A data acquisition circuit may isolate control and data decode logic elements from data acquisition elements such as sensors through the use of a single transformer. A control signal may be supplied to a primary winding of a transformer by alternately opening and closing a push switch and a pull switch. First and second analog to digital converter circuits may receive analog signals and convert them to data signals, which may appear on the secondary winding of the transformer. Data signals may be substantially received by a data demodulator circuit on the primary side of the data acquisition circuit. The data demodulator circuit may compare a voltage associated with the received signal to a threshold voltage and output a result of the comparison to the control and data decode logic element.

The method and device will detect the presence of a train in an approach area based on a rail characteristic measured in relation to a first measurement frequency transmitted along the rails. If there is a condition such as a ballast condition that may affect the rail characteristic, the method and device will detect the distance and speed of the train based on a rail characteristic measured in relation to a second measurement frequency transmitted along the rails. Otherwise, the distance and speed of the train will be determined based on the rail characteristic measured in relation to the first measurement frequency.
