An ink delivery system is provided. The ink delivery system includes at least one ink cartridge dispenser including an ink cartridge holder for holding an ink cartridge storing printing ink, at least one ink level sensor, a rotatable ink fountain roller and an ink fountain blade, forming a dispensed ink area receiving printing ink from the ink cartridge. The ink delivery system also includes a support supporting the at least one ink cartridge dispenser movably across a longitudinal axis of the ink fountain roller. The ink cartridge dispenser is movable along the support and fixable to the support manually. A method for supplying printing ink is also provided.

A printing press is provided which includes a printing unit for printing on a web. The printing unit includes a plate cylinder, a blanket cylinder, and an impression cylinder. The press further includes a web displacement bar movable between a first position in which the web displacement bar is spaced apart from a web passing between the blanket cylinder and the impression cylinder, and a second position in which the web displacement bar holds the web in contact with the impression cylinder and spaced apart from the blanket cylinder. A method of operating the press is also provided.

The timing belt includes a plurality of gripper mounts. The gripper mounts include a first set of gripper mounts arranged on the timing belt to support grippers for receiving first signatures of a first cutoff length and a second set of gripper mounts positioned to support grippers for receiving second signatures of a second cutoff length.

A web offset print unit includes a first plate cylinder, a first blanket cylinder selectively in contact with the first plate cylinder, a second blanket cylinder, the web passing between the first and second blanket cylinders, the second blanket cylinder and first blanket cylinder being selectively disengageable from the web in a throw-off position to permit the web to pass between the first and second blanket cylinders, and a second plate cylinder selectively engageable with the second blanket cylinder. A single drive motor drives the first plate cylinder, first blanket cylinder, second blanket cylinder and second plate cylinder when the first and second blanket cylinders engage the web and the single drive motor rotates the first and second plate cylinders when the first and second blanket cylinders are in the throw-off position. Autoplating during the throw-off position thus is possible.

An offset web print unit includes a plate cylinder, a blanket cylinder, a second blanket cylinder, an autoplating mechanism, and a throw-off mechanism including a single actuator both for moving the blanket cylinder from the second blanket cylinder and for moving the blanket cylinder to selectively contact the plate cylinder to permit autoplating while the blanket cylinder is thrown-off of the second blanket cylinder. A printing unit having a tucker bar capable of tucking a tail edge of a printing plate into an axially-extending gap of a plate cylinder and a tucker bar control device for automatically moving the tucker bar from an operating position to a non-operating position so as to permit access to the axially-extending gap. In a rotary printing press, an apparatus for adjusting the lateral and circumferential position of the plate cylinder is provided. The apparatus includes a sleeve having an inner surface with threads disposed thereon; a shaft disposed within the sleeve, and connected to the machine element such that when the shaft moves laterally the machine element is moved laterally, the shaft having an outer surface with threads disposed thereon which engage the threads disposed on the inner surface of the shaft; a gear assembly coupled to the sleeve, such that a rotational movement of the sleeve causes a circumferential movement of the machine element; a first drive for rotating the shaft, such that when the shaft is rotated, the shaft moves the machine element laterally; and a second drive for rotating the sleeve, such that when the sleeve is rotated, the sleeve moves the gear, and the gear rotates the machine element circumferentially.

An apparatus for preventing circumferential separation of the meshing teeth (86, 72) of a blanket cylinder gear (84) and a plate cylinder gear (70) includes a first gear (92) having gear teeth (94) in meshing engagement with the gear teeth (86) of the blanket cylinder gear (84). The first gear (92) is rotatable about an axis. A second gear (108) is coaxial with the first gear (92) and is rotatable about the axis relative to the first gear(92). A third gear (136) has gear teeth (134) in meshing engagement with the gear teeth (132) on the second gear (108). A fourth gear (76) is coaxial and rotatable with the plate cylinder gear (72), and has gear teeth (78) in meshing engagement with the gear teeth (134) on the third gear (136). The apparatus further includes spring means (122) for biasing the first and second gears (92, 108) about their common axis in respective directions that are opposite to each other.
