In one embodiment, techniques include receiving, by a computing device associated with a payment service system, a request to create a blockchain-enforced contract corresponding to a new transaction between a merchant and a customer. Techniques include generating, based on analysis using machine-learned models of a transaction history associated with the merchant, a condition of the blockchain-enforced contract requisite for completion of the new transaction. Techniques includes generating the blockchain-enforced contract including the condition. Techniques include providing the blockchain-enforced contract to nodes in a blockchain network. Techniques include creating a blockchain transaction addressed to the blockchain-enforced contract and including information regarding the condition. Techniques include providing the blockchain transaction to the nodes. Techniques include receiving confirmation that the nodes have validated the blockchain transaction. Techniques include causing a value associated with the new transaction to be transferred to a merchant account associated with the merchant.

Recommending conditions for blockchain-enforced contracts

Systems and methods for generation and aggregation of point-of-sale account data and generation of a marketplace platform are disclosed. Transaction information may be utilized to value one or more businesses, and those valuations may be presented to potential buyers in a generated marketplace platform. A remote system may facilitate a sales agreement between a buying merchant and a seller merchant by, for example, transferring funds from a remote system account to the selling merchant's account and accepting repayment from the buying merchant over time. Merging of transaction information and/or user accounts pursuant to the sales agreement may also be performed.

Account-based data and marketplace generation

Intelligent application of reserves to transactions are described. In an example, server(s) associated with a payment processing service receive, from a point-of-sale (POS) device operated by a merchant, transaction data associated with a payment transaction between the merchant and a customer. Based on a predictive model, the server(s) can determine a level of risk associated with the merchant and/or the payment transaction and can determine a portion of the transaction to withhold from a settlement amount of the payment transaction based at least in part on the level of risk. The portion can be deposited into a reserves account associated with the payment processing service to satisfy costs associated with chargeback requests.

Intelligent application of reserves to transactions

This disclosure describes, in part, techniques for validating a money transfer request between a sender and a recipient via challenge questions. For instance, the method includes determining, by a payment service system, a level of risk associated with the money transfer request between the sender and the recipient; in response the level of risk being higher than a threshold, obtaining a query for the recipient, wherein the query is based at least on the current money transfer request or one or more past requests between the sender and recipient; receiving, from the recipient device, a response to the query; and validating the current payment transaction based on the response.

Payment transaction authentication system and method

In one embodiment, techniques include receiving, from a device associated with a merchant, a request to create blockchain-enforced contract corresponding to a new transaction between the merchant and a customer. Techniques include generating a condition of the blockchain-enforced contract requisite for completion of the new transaction. Techniques include receiving a selection of at least one option for determining that the condition is satisfied. Techniques include generating the blockchain-enforced contract and providing the blockchain-enforced contract to one or more nodes in the blockchain network. Techniques include receiving an input comprising information regarding the condition, creating a blockchain transaction addressed to the blockchain-enforced contract and sending the blockchain transaction to nodes in the blockchain network. Techniques include transferring a corresponding to the new transaction from an escrow account to a merchant account.

Know your customer regulations and security concerns, among other reasons, motivate institutions to ensure that entities with whom the institutions have dealings are who they say they are. A block of the blockchain discussed herein includes entity verifications generated by institutions that participate in the blockchain. An individual verification may include a hash of personal information associated with an entity that was authenticated by an institution. An institution seeking to authenticate (or deny) an entity may receive personal information from the entity, hash that personal information, and search the blockchain for any matching verifications (e.g., by attempting to match the hashed personal information to hash(es) associated with a verification in the blockchain).

Identity authentication blockchain

In one embodiment, a method includes receiving one or more selected options for one or more of multiple contract conditions generated based on transaction information associated with a request to create a blockchain-related invoice and generating instructions for a blockchain-enforced contract based on the transaction information and the one or more selected options. The instructions for the blockchain-enforced contract correspond to a first nested contract including a first contract condition required for a transfer of a value and a second nested contract including a second contract condition required for at least a partial reversal of the transfer of the value. The method also includes, in response to receiving an input regarding the second contract condition, cause the instructions for the blockchain-enforced contract to be executed on a blockchain network.

Nested conditions for blockchain-enforced contracts

This disclosure describes, in part, techniques for validating a payment transaction between a customer and a merchant via challenge questions. For instance, the method includes determining, by a payment processing system, a level of risk associated with a current payment transaction between the merchant and the customer; in response the level of risk being higher than a threshold, obtaining a query for the customer, wherein the query is based at least on the current payment transaction or one or more past transactions involving the customer; receiving, from a customer device associated with the customer, a response to the query; and validating the current payment transaction based on the response.

This disclosure describes, in part, techniques for storing transaction data at a central service, and techniques for querying information associated with the data from the central service when authorizing payment instruments for transactions. For instance, a central service may receive historical transaction data from multiple payment services that authorize payment instruments for merchants, and then store the historical transaction data in one or more databases. A payment service may then receive a request to authorize a payment instrument for a transaction between a merchant and a customer. Based on receiving the request, the payment service can send the central service a message that includes a query for information associated with historical transaction data corresponding to the payment instrument. In response, the payment service can receive the information from the central service and authorize the payment instrument using the information.
