A bonded multilayer article including: (a) at least one first layer of a silicone-containing rubber substrate material bonded to (b) at least one second layer of a substrate material bondable to the first layer; wherein at least a portion of the surface of the first layer is activated for adhesion to increase the bond strength of the first layer to a second layer such that the bond strength of the first layer bonded to the second layer is increased; and a process for producing the above bonded multilayer article.

Bonded multilayer article

A thermal insulation structure for a substrate for use subsea, and a method of providing a thermal insulating structure. The structure comprises: an inner layer and an outer layer. The inner layer is the reaction product of a first part and a second part, wherein the weight ratio of the first part to the second part is from about 15:1 to 1:1. The first part comprises any of alkenyldialkyl terminated polydialkylsiloxane, alkenyldialkyl terminated polydialkylalkenylmethylsiloxane or mixtures thereof, which will individually or collectively have a viscosity of from 250 to 10000 mPa&#xb7;s at 25&#xb0; C., and a hydrosilylation catalyst. The second part comprises a mixture of organohydrogensiloxane having two Si&#x2014;H bonds per molecule and organohydrogensiloxane having at least three Si&#x2014;H bonds per molecule. The outer layer is the reaction product of a first part and a second part, wherein the weight ratio of the first part to the second part is from about 15:1 to 1:1. The first part comprises any of alkenyldialkyl terminated polydialkylsiloxane, alkenyldialkyl terminated polydialkylalkenylmethylsiloxane or mixtures thereof, which will individually or collectively have a viscosity of from 250 to 10000 mPa&#xb7;s at 25&#xb0; C., and a hydrosilylation catalyst. The second part comprises organohydrogensiloxane having at least two Si&#x2014;H bonds per molecule and alkenylated MQ silicone resin, wherein said M group comprises at least two Si-alkenyl bonds per molecule.

Wax compositions derived from metathesized natural oils and amines and methods of making wax compositions from metathesized natural oils and amines are provided. The wax compositions comprise amidated metathesized natural oils formed from a metathesized natural oil and at least one amine. The methods comprise providing an amine and providing a metathesized natural oil. The methods further comprise mixing the amine and the metathesized natural oil in the presence of a basic catalyst or heat, causing a reaction between the amine and metathesized natural oil, therein forming the amidated metathesized natural oil.

A personal care composition comprising at least one saccharide-siloxane copolymer having a saccharide component and an organosiloxane component and linked by a linking group, wherein the saccharide-siloxane copolymer has a specified formula, is provided. The personal care composition is adapted to provide at least one benefit to the at least one portion of the body to which it is applied. Emulsions, methods for preparing emulsions comprising saccharide-siloxane copolymers, and personal care products comprising the personal care compositions and emulsions are also provided.

Cosmetic and skin-care compositions comprising saccharide-siloxane copolymers

A sealing technique is provided for forming complex and multiple seal configurations for fuel cells and other electrochemical cells. To provide a seal, for sealing chambers for oxidant, fuel and/or coolant, a groove network is provided extending through the various elements of the fuel cell assembly. A source of seal material is then connected to an external filling port and injected into the groove network, and the seal material is then cured to form the seal. There is thus formed a 'seal in place', that is robust and can accommodate variations in tolerances and dimensions, and that can be bonded, where possible, to individual elements of the fuel cell assembly. This avoids the difficulty, labor intensive cost and complexity of manually assembling many individual gaskets into complex groove shapes and the like. The seal material can be selected to be comparable with a wide variety of gases, liquid coolants and the like.
