A trocar for performing a procedure on a patient. The trocar has a hollow cannula with a distal end and a proximal end. The trocar also has a housing with a distal end attached to the proximal end of the cannula and a proximal end having a wall attached thereto. The wall has an aperture therethrough. The trocar further includes a seal assembly disposed within the housing. The seal assembly includes a first substantially rigid ring, a second substantially rigid ring, and a plurality of layered elastomeric members compressed therebetween. The first ring has a plurality of distally extending protrusions extending from a distal surface thereof, and the second ring has a plurality of proximally extending protrusions extending from a proximal surface thereof.

Trocar seal assembly

The present invention relates to an anastomotic device () comprising a first ring () having a first contact surface () and a second ring () having a second contact surface (). The rings () are suitable to be approached in the axial direction (X) such as to move said contact surfaces () towards each other. The anastomotic device is characterized in that the contact surfaces () have an undulated shape relative to a plane (&#x3c0;) perpendicular to the axis (X) of the rings (). According to another aspect thereof, the invention also relates to an apparatus () for the implantation of the anastomotic device (). According to a further aspect thereof, the invention relates to a kit comprising an anastomotic device () and an apparatus () for the implantation of the same.

Anastomotic device

An instrumentation for performing an endoluminal or transluminal anastomosis, comprises an anastomotic ring device including a proximal ring () having two guide wire seats () adapted to slidably receive two guide wires () and a distal ring () having two guide wire seats () adapted to slidably receive the two guide wires (), the proximal ringand the distal ringbeing snap-connectable to each other, a surgical probe () comprising an elongate insertion shaft () and a probe head () adapted to be endoluminally advanced to a proximal tissue portion (), the insertion shaft () defining guide wire canals () extending into two guide wire exit openings () defined in the probe head () and adapted to deliver the distal ends (&#x2033;) of said guide wires () to said proximal tissue portion (). The distance between the two guide wire exit openings () of the probe () is substantially equal to the distance between the two guide wire seats () of the proximal ring () and to the distance between the two guide wire seats () of the distal ring ().

A surgical instrument () for performing controlled myotomies, particularly for performing internal anal sphincterotomies, comprises a proximal handle portion (), an elongate insertion shaft () connected with the handle portion () and extending distally therefrom, a distal incision tip () arranged at a distal end of the insertion shaft () and adapted to incise tissue distally to the insertion shaft (), a lateral incision member () arranged at the insertion shaft () and adapted to incise tissue laterally to the insertion shaft (), wherein the lateral incision member () is movable from a rest position, in which it is retracted towards or inside the insertion shaft () and an operational position in which it protrudes laterally from the insertion shaft ().

Surgical instrument for performing controlled myotomies

Traction means () for excising a tissue sample comprising a distal portion (), comprising at least one clip () suitable for being fixed to at least one portion () of tissue to be excised and a proximal portion () suitable for being subjected to traction. Said at least one clip () is suitable for being connected to a distal end () of a suture () to pull the tissue to be excised, said suture () extending between said distal end () and a proximal end corresponding to the proximal portion of said traction means (). Moreover, said at least one clip () is connected to a ring () formed at a distal end () of said suture () to pull the tissue to be excised.

Device, clip, endoscope and method for the intraluminal treatment of tissue, e.g. hemorrhoids

A trocar sleeve includes a trocar cannula and a trocar housing having a housing member base and a housing member cover. The trocar cannula and trocar housing are mechanically interfitted to form a trocar sleeve, wherein at least a portion of the trocar cannula sits within the housing member base with the housing member cover sitting over the trocar cannula for securing the at least a portion of the trocar cannula within the housing member base. The trocar sleeve also includes a stop-cock valve mechanically interfitted between the trocar cannula and the trocar housing.

The lock-out mechanism alternatively operates on the one of the rotation knobs, while the other is released due to the relative translation of the knobs along the common axis (XI between a first relative position and a second relative position and vice versa.

An applier for an anastomosis ring device. The applier has an elongate implement portion and a handle connected to the implement portion. The applier further includes a distal actuating member having catch means which, in a lock position, protrudes radially outward to engage a distal ring. The applier further includes a proximal actuating member adapted to engage a proximal ring, and an actuation mechanism to approximate the proximal and distal rings. The distal actuating member is rotatable about a longitudinal axis from its lock position to a release position thereby sliding along a deviating surface at the implement portion.

A seal assembly for use in conjunction with a trocar assembly includes a seal body adapted for sealing about an instrument inserted through the trocar assembly. The seal assembly also includes a protector adjacent the seal body for protecting the seal body from instruments passing through the seal body. A seal assembly adapted for use in conjunction with a trocar assembly includes a plurality of seal segments. Each seal segment includes a peripheral edge and a seam edge. At least a first seal segment and a second seal segment are connected along their respective peripheral edges to form a first seal layer having a seam defined by the seam edge of the first seal segment and the seam edge of the second seal segment. At least a third seal segment and a fourth seal segment are connected along their respective peripheral edges to form a second seal layer having a seam defined by the seam edge of the third seal segment and the seam edge of the fourth seal segment. The seam of the first seal layer has a first longitudinal axis and the seam of the second seal layer has a second longitudinal axis, and the first seal layer is oriented relative to the second seal layer such that the first longitudinal axis is angularly oriented relative to the second longitudinal axis.
