An engine for a two-wheeled vehicle includes at least one cylinder comprising a combustion chamber and a cylinder head positioned adjacent the combustion chamber. The engine further includes a crankcase coupled to the at least one cylinder which includes a crankshaft. Additionally, the engine includes a valve train operably coupled to the crankshaft which includes at least one intake valve fluidly coupled to the combustion chamber, at least one exhaust valve fluidly coupled to the combustion chamber, at least one pushrod operably coupled to at least one of the intake valve and the exhaust valve, at least one camshaft operably coupled to the at least one pushrod and the crankshaft, and a cam phaser assembly operably coupled to the at least one camshaft and positioned generally outside an envelope of the cylinder head.

Variable valve timing system for an engine

An engine is described having a crankcase, a liner and a head assembly. The crankcase is split along a plane defining a two part crankcase, where fluid passages are passing through only one of the crankcase portions, so as to not require crossing the split line. A connecting rod also includes a tapered end, and the piston has a complementary carrier receiving the connecting rod.

An engine includes a first cylinder communicating with a first intake port and a first exhaust port, and an exhaust assembly coupled to the engine and including a first exhaust manifold coupled to the first exhaust port. The first exhaust manifold is angled relative to the first exhaust port.

Two-wheeled vehicle

A control system for a vehicle having an accessory generally includes a transmission coupled to an engine and a power take-off unit having an output speed and an output torque. The power take-off unit is coupled to the transmission and adapted to releaseably couple to the accessory. A drivetrain is selectively coupled to the transmission and a control module controls at least one of the output speed and the output torque of the power take-off unit.

Engine and transmission control system and method for a vehicle accessory

The present teachings generally include a control system for a vehicle. The control system includes an engine having a minimum engine speed and a maximum engine speed and a transmission having a minimum transmission output speed and a maximum transmission output speed. The control system also includes an accelerator assembly having a movable member movable within a range of motion. The range of motion is defined by a first position based on at least one of the minimum engine speed and the minimum transmission output speed and a second position based on at least one of the maximum engine speed and the maximum transmission output speed. A control module connects to the accelerator assembly. The control module adjusts the second position to be based on at least one of a reduced maximum engine speed, a reduced maximum transmission output speed and combinations thereof, wherein the range of motion of said movable member remains about constant.

Engine and transmission control system and method for a motorized vehicle

An engine and rear axle are mounted on a drive train sub-frame of a utility vehicle, with two generally parallel plates spaced from each other on the first end of the drive train sub-frame. A cross bolt extends laterally between the two plates and through an opening in a retainer attached to the main frame of the utility vehicle. The retainer opening has a height and width larger than the diameter of the cross bolt.

A one-piece leaf spring retaining bracket may be welded to a longitudinal member of a vehicle frame. The leaf spring retaining bracket is symmetrical along two planes, and the same bracket may be used on either side of the vehicle frame. The bracket has an upper section with a curved or arced surface, and first and second downwardly extending walls between which the end of a leaf spring may be pivotally supported.

A cargo container attachment for a small vehicle such as a lawn tractor is provided. The container is removably attached to the rear of the vehicle and includes a cargo box storage space with a pivotally mounted swingable tailgate. The container is designed to be used in conjunction with a lawn tractor to perform landscaping and structural maintenance tasks. Materials such as mulch, soil and plantings as well as maintenance materials can be transported in the cargo space. The tailgate can be moved between a first position where it serves to enclose the storage space and a second position where its serves as a workbench surface. Tool receiving recesses are provided in the sidewall edges of the composite container for transporting small tools such as trimmers, shovels, shears and/or rakes.

A dual rate leaf spring suspension supports a frame member over an axle of a small utility vehicle. The dual rate leaf spring suspension includes a full-length leaf spring and a half-length leaf spring. A spacer plate is the only connection point between the full-length leaf spring and the half-length leaf spring, which is positioned intermediate the full-length leaf spring and at one end of the half-length leaf spring.

A tubular axle housing is provided with pairs of tabs that protrude or extend from the axle to a height or length sufficient to prevent the intermediate section of a U-bolt from sliding over the tab. The tabs also help locate and guide the U-bolt between the tabs during the assembly of a leaf spring to the axle housing. The tabs provide a positive locking feature for the U-bolts during service of a vehicle, to prevent the U-bolts from moving laterally along the axis of the axle tube. As a result, the joint between the leaf spring and axle housing is more secure.

Cargo container

A device for suspending a mower cutting deck that includes a retention member connected with the frame of a vehicle. The retention member receives a linkage bridging the cutting deck and the frame. To receive this linkage, the retention member includes a channel having a top end through which the linkage is inserted and a bottom end in which the linkage seats when the deck and the frame are connected. A throat portion is provided between the top and bottom ends. The throat portion is laterally offset from the ends and provides an abutment which opposes inadvertent vertical movement of the linkage beyond the bottom end to substantially prevent it from moving out of the retention member. With this opposition, the deck can maintain its attachment with the frame of the vehicle while using a minimal amount of hardware.
