A device is disclosed for converting a circularly polarized electromagnetic radiation into linearly polarized electromagnetic radiation. The device includes a depolarizer with depolarizing elements supported in a polarization mode converter for rotation between a vertical output and a horizontal output. A depolarization position for circularly polarized radiation exists between the horizontal output and the vertical output. The rotation direction of the depolarizer can be adjusted to selectively direct left-handed circularly polarized and right-handed circularly polarized radiation either to the vertical or the horizontal output.

Device for converting circularly oscillating electromagnetic radiation beams into linearly oscillating radiation beams

A reflector antenna is disclosed with a main reflector and a rotatable sub-reflector that significantly reduces vibrations in the sub-reflector. The sub-reflector includes a reflecting surface located in front of the main reflector between the main reflector and a radiation source as well as a cylindrical shaft that extends in a direction parallel to a main axis of the main reflector. The sub-reflector is made of two connected parts, wherein one part includes the reflecting surface, and the other part is made of a non-reflecting material and formfittingly engages with the reflecting surface. The sub-reflector is rotatably supported on the cylindrical shaft and has a rotation speed of between approximately 1500 to 3500 rpm.

A power station boiler condensate water monitor employs a light-scatter cell for the detection of oil and/or particulates in the water. In order to determine background scatter levels, provision is made to alternatively pass clean water through the cell (FLUSH). The offset voltages obtained from the detector outputs when clean water is employed are compensated for differences in temperature between the boiler condensate water and the clean water before substraction from the detector outputs when boiler condensate water is employed. The monitor is capable of detecting oil levels of less than 2 parts per million.
