A high temperature RFID tag is described which has a survival temperature in the range of approximately &minus;40&deg; C. to 300&deg; C. and an operating temperature in the range of approximately &minus;20&deg; C. to 200&deg; C. In one embodiment of the invention, the RFID tag comprises a housing comprising a substantially flexible first thermally resistant material and having a base and a top, and a circuit board substrate comprising a substantially flexible second thermally resistant material which is encapsulated within the housing. In an additional embodiment of the invention, the high temperature RFID tag comprises a substrate assembly, the substrate assembly including a substrate having an integrated circuit disposed thereon, the substrate comprising a substantially flexible first thermally resistant material, and a high temperature encapsulant disposed on a first side of the substrate, the substrate assembly having a survival temperature in the range of &minus;40&deg; C. to 300&deg; C.

High temperature RFID tag

A multi-directional RFID read/write antenna unit is described which provides multi-directional RF communication to a source, such as a RF tag. The antenna comprises a plurality of coils adapted to transmit multi-directional RF signals to a RF tag and receive RF response signals from the RF tag. The RF antenna includes a switch for selecting at least one of the RF antenna coils for transmission of the RF signals and receipt of the RF response signals whereby the RF signals can be directed toward and received from a plurality of different directions from a fixed position.

Multi-directional RFID antenna

A high temperature RFID tag is described which has a survival temperature in the range of approximately -40.degree. C. to 300.degree. C. and an operating temperature of approximately -20.degree. C. to 200.degree. C. The RFID tag comprises a housing comprising a first thermally resistant material and having a base and a top, and a circuit board substrate comprising a second thermally resistant material which is encapsulated within the housing.

An RFID antenna system is described comprising an elongated antenna disposed proximate an interrogation path for interrogating transponders moving along the interrogation path. The antenna is oriented such that the longitudinal axis of the antenna is substantially perpendicular to said interrogation path. The antenna provides an active RF interrogation zone that intersects at least 40% of the horizontal longitudinal plane of the interrogation path.

RFID conveyor antenna

A lock apparatus includes a lock provided with a cylindrical plug having a set of blind holes angularly spaced from the set of pinways in the plug. A longitudinal slot through the center of the blind holes accepts a programming member that lifts one or more master pins out of the blind holes and into housing pinways when the lock is unlocked with a master key and the plug is rotated into a rekeying position to align the blind holes with the housing pinways. The programming member has a hole or notch near its front end to facilitate removal when the lock is unlocked and the plug is in the rekeying position. The programming member may be in the form of a set blade or a set rod, and may be reversible end-to-end to provide additional rekeying combinations. A method includes programming the lock to operate with only one exclusively differently-bitted change key or sub-master key at a time by requiring a shallower bitting depth at a tumbler station from which a master pin has been removed and permitting and having a deeper bitting depth at a tumbler station to which a master pin has been inserted and thus rendered active.

Programmable lock apparatus and method

A lock apparatus includes a key-in-knob lock, padlock or other type of 90.degree. lock provided with a cylindrical plug having a keyway for receiving a master key that has bittings for positioning a master pin in the top portion of a first pinway with the bottom of the master pin aligned with the shear interface to unlock the lock. The plug has a guideway at the surface thereof and angularly displaced from the keyway less than 180.degree. for receiving the master pin during re-keying. A blocking rod is received in the guideway for normal, non-re-keying use of the lock. After removal of the rod from the guideway, a transfer tool is slidable into the guideway. The tool has a cut for receiving the master pin from the first pinway. The tool slides relative to the guideway and moves the master pin in the guideway to directly reposition the master pin adjacent a randomly selected second pinway. A handle rotates the tool relative to the guideway to cam the master pin out of the cut into the second pinway to change the height of the pin stack in the second pinway to randomly and integrally re-key the lock without removal of the master pin from the lock or disassembly of the lock.

Randomly and integrally re-keyable lock apparatus and method

A lock is re-keyable for sequential use with different ones of a set of change keys, without disassembling the lock or removing or replacing any parts therefrom or therein. A housing of the lock has a bore extending axially therethrough to define a shear interface and receive a plug for rotational and axial movement, with one rearward axial position for operation of the lock and another forward axial position for re-keying. The plug is held fixed rearwardly by a retainer to form pinways. According to which change key currently operates the lock, a particular reset key selectively positions at least one master pin in either the plug portion or the housing portion of the second pinway. The reset key releases the retainer and the plug is moved forward axially to align a third pinway with the master pin in the housing portion or a first pinway with the master pin in the plug portion. The reset key is removed and a corresponding set key is inserted into the lock. The set key transposes the master pin across the shear interface from the housing portion into the plug portion of the third pinway or from the plug portion into the housing portion of the first pinway. The plug is rotated to release the retainer and the plug is moved axially to the operational position. The lock is then not usable with the first change key, and is usable only with the next sequential change key, and with a master key.

Integrally and sequentially re-keyable lock apparatus and method

A lock apparatus includes a lock provided with a cylindrical plug having a keyway widened to form a slot adjacent the bottom surface of the plug for receiving a master pin from a top pinway of the lock. The slot has shoulders at the opposite ends thereof to prevent removal of the master pin from the lock. If the lock has been assembled, the plug is removed to facilitate forming the slot, removing any ribs that are at the bottom of the keyway and inserting a master pin between the driver pin and the tumbler pin in a first one of the pinways. A transfer key has bittings for positioning the master pin in the top portion of the first pinway with the bottom of the master pin aligned with the shear interface. A transfer tool is slidable relative to the transfer key on the side thereof opposite to the bittings and has a cut for receiving the master pin from the first pinway. The tool slides relative to the transfer key and moves the master pin in the slot to directly reposition the master pin adjacent a randomly selected second pinway. A handle rotates the tool relative to the transfer key to cam the master pin out of the cut into the second pinway to change the height of the pin stack in the second pinway to randomly and integrally re-key the lock without removal of the master pin from the lock or disassembly of the lock.

Apparatus by which common points in any two conventional adjacent perpendicular orthographic views of an object are utilized to produce isometric, diametric or trimetric views of the object. One form of the apparatus comprises a main plotting member shaped at least in part in the form of an isosceles triangle, and an auxiliary plotting member shaped at least in part in the form of a parallelogram, and means for orienting the auxiliary plotting member at a predetermined angle with respect to the main plotting member. The plotting members are preferably made from rigid, dimensionally stable, transparent plastic material, and lines may be scribed on the plotting members to facilitate positioning of the plotting members for location of common points in the two orthographic views and for orienting the main plotting member with respect to the tertiary axis of the two orthographic views.

A temperature controller switches between two different temperature levels at predetermined times of the day. At the same time of the day as the actuation of a first switch, the controller will shift from the second to the first temperature level; the actuation of a second switch at a particular time will induce a shift to the second level each succeeding day at that time. Separate timers couple to each of the switches and have 24-hour periods. At the end of their respective 24-hour periods, each timer produces an output signal and begins another period. The switches set the appropriate timer to the beginning of the period so that the changes produced by that timer occur after the expiration of each 24-hour period. The timer may take the form of a pulse counter, with counting pulses derived from the sinusoidal alternating current of the voltage source powering the system.

Electronic temperature controller and switching device

A timer and manual on-off switch forms an assembly having the appearance and function of a conventional wall-mounted light switch. The timer and manual on-off switch preferably includes a toggle arm projecting from the wall, the arm being movable to a stable power turn-on position where the lights controlled thereby are turned on, a stable power turn-off position where the lights involved are turned off, an unstable timer on setting position which establishes as the time the lights involved are to be turned on when the arm is set for automatic operation the time the toggle arm is momentarily moved thereto, and an unstable timer off setting position which establishes as the time when the lights involved are automatically turned off the time the toggle arm is momentarily moved thereto. The automatic timer is set into operation by moving the toggle arm to a normal unstable neutral position when it is held in such position by shifting the toggle arm laterally into a self-holding position.
