A microwave antenna includes an antenna housing and a radome fabric attached to the housing, which is configured to pass microwave electromagnetic signals therethrough. The radome fabric has an opening formed therein. A vent component is attached to the radome fabric so as to cover the opening in the radome fabric when the radome fabric is viewed from an elevation view in a direction parallel to an axis extending through and perpendicular to the opening in the radome fabric. The vent component is configured to allow air to pass between the atmosphere and the antenna housing.

Radome, reflector, and feed assemblies for microwave antennas

In one embodiment, a foldable radome sub-assembly for an antenna reflector dish has flexible material connected to a plurality of rigid rim segments. Connection elements (e.g., inserts) are configured to interconnect two adjacent rim segments, such that, with the connection elements applied, the radome sub-assembly is configured as a radome connectable to the antenna reflector dish, and, without the connection elements applied, the radome sub-assembly is foldable between adjacent rim segments. The foldable radome sub-assembly can be folded up for efficient storage and shipping, yet is easy to configure in the field into a rigid radome for attachment to an antenna reflector dish.

A dielectric cone radiator sub-reflector assembly for a reflector antenna with a waveguide supported sub-reflector is provided as a unitary dielectric block with a sub-reflector at a distal end. A waveguide transition portion of the dielectric block is dimensioned for insertion coupling into an end of the waveguide. A dielectric radiator portion is provided between the waveguide transition portion and a sub-reflector support portion. An outer diameter of the dielectric radiator portion is provided with a plurality of radially inward grooves extending radially inward to a diameter less than an inner diameter of the end of the waveguide and a lens bore extends from a proximal end of the dielectric block towards the distal end of the dielectric block at least to the sub-reflector support portion. The unitary dielectric block may be manufactured as a single contiguous monolithic portion of dielectric material via injection molding.

Dielectric lens cone radiator sub-reflector assembly

A radome and a reflector antenna configured to mate with the radome. The radome has a central portion and a surrounding outer portion. The central portion having a radius selected to redirect a reflected component of the transmitted RF signal from the radome to the vertex area of the reflector. The outer portion has a larger radius selected to minimize radiation pattern degradation. RF absorbing material located at the vertex area reduces return loss of the reflector antenna. The radome attaches to the reflector via a plurality of tabs formed proximate the periphery of the radome that correspond to a plurality of cut outs in the periphery of the reflector. When inserted and rotated, the radome secures to the reflector without requiring tools.
