Various apparatuses to attach a first medical device to a second medical device are described that allow the physician to grasp only a single device while the other device remains securely attached to the one being grasped. The apparatuses, once they are attached to the first medical device, are designed to be easily and quickly attached and detached to a second medical device, normally only requiring the use of one hand. Furthermore, the apparatuses oftentimes include a base that can easily couple and decouple from the portion that is attached to the second medical device so that if the need arises to separately use the second medical device, it can be decoupled from the first medical device without completely removing the apparatus from the second medical device.

Disclosed herein are various systems and methods for facilitating control of a tool or tools. The systems can allow a user to control multiple degrees of freedom. One such system allows a user to control multiple degrees of freedom of two tools simultaneously. Another such system allows a user to control multiple degrees of freedom with a single hand. Frames and rails for supporting and/or constraining movement of a tool or tools are also described herein.

One exemplary system includes a guide tube having a manipulation section and mated with rails carrying instrument control members. A medical device that may include an elongate member having a proximal end and a distal end, and a lumen disposed through the elongate member is disclosed. The medical device may also include an opening disposed at the distal end of the elongate member in communication with the lumen, and a pushing element disposed with the lumen. The medical device may also include at least one fiducial disposed within the lumen and distal to the pushing element, and a separating mechanism disposed at the distal end of the elongate member. The separating mechanism may be configured to apply a separating force to deploy the at least one fiducial.

An injection device, method, and system for drug delivery includes a container for storing a drug, the container having a stopper movably disposed in the container for expelling the drug; an injection drive mechanism having a plunger for acting on the stopper and an energy source having a first selected potential energy for exerting a force on the plunger to cause the plunger to act on the stopper to expel the drug; and a plunger loading mechanism for substantially preventing the plunger from accelerating to a predetermined velocity before it acts on the stopper. The plunger loading mechanism may be a spring having a second selected potential energy for reducing or eliminating a distance between the plunger and the stopper, prior to the plunger accelerating to the velocity. The second selected potential energy of the spring may be less than the first selected potential energy of the energy source.
