Receptacle cage and method for making the same

The present invention provides an electrical connector comprising an insulative housing having a plurality of passageways, and a plurality of contacts received in the passageways, respectively. The passageways each defines two inner walls opposite to each other, the two inner walls each having at least one first retention device. The contacts each include a base, an upper arm extending from one side of the base and a lower arm extending from another side. The upper arm further defines two protrusions on opposite sides thereof and the lower arm defines two protrusions on opposite sides thereof. In assembly, protrusions on upper arm are located above the first retention device of the passageways, and protrusions on the lower arm are located below the first retention device of the passageways such that movement of the contact in the passageway along length axis of the passageway is limited in a predetermined distance.

Connector for flexible printed circuit

A connector assembly () includes an insulative housing () defining a central slot () with two rows of passageways () by two sides thereof and two rows of contacts () disposed in the corresponding passageways, respectively. An electronic card () is received in the central slot and has a number of circuit pads () on a bottom portion thereof to engage the corresponding contacts, respective. Each of the contacts defines a contact section () extending into the central slot, and such contact section is of a downward bellows type with an overlapped region. The inner arm of the overlapped region provides a contact apex contacting the corresponding circuit pad. A connector for a sheet-like member includes a housing () providing an open mouth () for receiving the sheet-like member and a support surface (); terminals () arranged in the housing and each comprising a fulcrum portion (), a contact beam () extending into the open mouth from the fulcrum portion and a pivot beam () extending in opposite direction to the contact beam from the fulcrum portion; and an actuator () rotatable between an open and a closed positions. The actuator has shaft portions () pivotally engaging with the pivot beams and cam portions () between the shaft portions and rotatably supported on the support surface. The shaft portions will urge upwards the pivot beams to force the contact beams against the sheet-like member with aid of the fulcrum portions while the actuator is rotated from the open position to the closed position.

An electrical connector assembly () includes a card edge connector () used to be mounted on a mother board () and defining a slot (), a daughter card (), and a board hold down () for being mounted on the mother board. The daughter card includes a mating edge () inserted into the slot of the card edge connector, and a rear edge () opposite to the mating edge and defining an engaging hole (). The board hold down is separated from the card edge connector and includes a pivot bracket () engaged with the engaging hole of the daughter card, and a pin latch () pivoted on the pivot bracket and having a latch portion () abutting against the rear edge of the daughter card for preventing the rear edge from rising upwardly.

An electrical connector () adapted for connecting a flexible board comprises an insulated housing () defining a number of retaining channels, a number of first and second contacts () and a pressing member (). Each first contact has a pivot portion extending in a longitudinal direction and functioning as pivot point for actuation of the pressing member. The pressing member has a number of passageways for receiving corresponding pivot portions. After the pivot portions are fully received in corresponding passageways, the second contacts are assembled in the retaining channels. The first contacts cooperate with the second contact to secure the pressing member in the longitudinal direction.
