There is described a method for interrogating optical fiber comprising fiber Bragg gratings ('FBGs'), using an optical fiber interrogator. The method comprises (a) generating an initial light pulse from phase coherent light emitted from a light source, wherein the initial light pulse is generated by modulating the intensity of the light; (b) splitting the initial light pulse into a pair of light pulses; (c) causing one of the light pulses to be delayed relative to the other of the light pulses; (d) transmitting the light pulses along the optical fiber; (e) receiving reflections of the light pulses off the FBGs; and (f) determining whether an optical path length between the FBGs has changed from an interference pattern resulting from the reflections of the light pulses.

Optical interrogator for performing interferometry using fiber Bragg gratings

A system and method for detection of an aerial drone in an environment includes a baseline of geo-mapped sensor data in a temporal and location indexed database formed by (i) using at least one sensor to receive signals from the environment and converting into digital signals for further processing; (ii) deriving time delays, object signatures, Doppler shifts, reflectivity, and/or optical characteristics from the received signals; (iii) geo-mapping the environment using GNSS and the sensor data; and (iv) logging sensor data over a time interval, for example 24 hours to 7 days. Live sensor data can be then be monitored and signature data can be derived by computing at least one parameter such as direction and signal strength. The live data is continuously or periodically compared to the baseline data to identify a variance, if any, which may be indicative of a detection event.

Drone detection using multi-sensory arrays

Audio-derived information is provided to a vehicle control system of a vehicle by attaching a microphone externally to a vehicle to generate an analog signal in response to sound waves external to the vehicle. An enclosure containing sound-attenuating material mechanically filters low frequency sounds from reaching the microphone transducer. An analog-to-digital converter converts the analog signal to a digital signal. A vehicle data bus transfers the digital signal to the vehicle control system.

Audio processing for vehicle sensory systems

An optical fiber interrogator for interrogating optical fiber that includes fiber Bragg gratings ('FBGs'). The interrogator includes a light source operable to emit phase coherent light, amplitude modulation circuitry optically coupled to the light source and operable to generate pulses from the light, and control circuitry communicatively coupled to the amplitude modulation circuitry that is configured to perform a method for interrogating the optical fiber. The method includes generating a pair of light pulses by using the amplitude modulation circuitry to modulate light output by the light source without splitting the light.

Optical interrogator for performing interferometry using Bragg gratings

A system for detection of a target sound in an environment of a vehicle, includes an audio sensor, a computer processor, and a memory storing a digital target sound template produced by converting a sample of the target sound in accordance with conversion parameters. The computer processor receives a sound signal from the audio sensor, digitizes the sound signal in accordance with the conversion parameters, and determines a degree of similarity between the digitized signal and the digital target sound template. The sound signal may be logarithmically amplified before being digitized. The sound signal may be received from two audio sensors, and the direction of the target sound may be determined based on a difference between time indices for detection of the target sound for each audio sensor.

Systems and methods for detection of a target sound

A system for detection of a target sound in an environment of a vehicle, includes an audio sensor, a computer processor, and a memory storing digital target sound templates produced by converting samples of the target sound in accordance with conversion parameters. The computer processor receives the sample sound signal from the audio sensor, converts the sample sound signal to a digital sample vector in accordance with the conversion parameters, compares the vector to each of the templates to determine if a degree of similarity of the vector to any one of the templates exceeds a predetermined threshold value, and notifies a user or a vehicle control system if the threshold value is exceeded.

A wireless sensor device includes a processor connected to a wireless transmitter and at least one sensor, and a power source connected to power the processor and the wireless transmitter. The processor has two or more states. An internal control element senses at least one predetermined condition. The internal control element switches the processor between states based on the occurrence of at least one predetermined condition. A molded body encloses at least the processor, the wireless transmitter, and the internal control sensor. The internal control sensor is physically isolated within the molded body.

Wireless sensor device

A method and apparatus are provided for transmission/reception of signals between automatic test equipment (ATE) and a device under test (DUT). A probe card has a plurality of associated proximate active probe integrated circuits (APIC) connected to a plurality of probes. Each APIC interfaces with one or more test interface points on the DUT through probes. Each APIC receives and processes signals communicated between the ATE and the DUT. Low information content signals transmitted from the ATE are processed into high information content signals for transmission to the probe immediately adjacent the APIC, and high information content or time critical signals received by the APIC from the DUT are transmitted as low information content signals to the ATE. Because the APIC is immediately adjacent the probe there is minimum loss or distortion of the information in the signal from the DUT.

Testing of electronic circuits using an active probe integrated circuit

An apparatus for interrogating an electronic circuit supported by a substrate includes a tester external to the substrate and comprising an tester transceiver. A testing circuit is supported by the substrate and connected to the electronic circuit. The testing circuit includes a processor and a testing circuit transceiver in communication with the tester transceiver for transmitting instructions from the tester to the processor and for transmitting results of an interrogation from the processor to the tester. The processor being programmed to process instructions from the tester to interrogate the electronic circuit with an interrogation corresponding to the instructions.

Method and apparatus for interrogating electronic equipment components

An interconnect for transmitting an electric signal between electronic devices includes a first coupling element electromagnetically coupled to, and immediately juxtaposed to, a second coupling element. The first coupling element is mounted on and is electrically connected to a first electronic device having a first integrated circuit. The second coupling element may be mounted on and electrically connected to the first electronic device, and electrically connected to an interconnect on a second electronic device, or the second coupling element may be mounted on and electrically connected to the second electronic device.

Interconnect having ultra high speed signal transmission/reception

There is provided, in combination, an integrated circuit chip, a device, and a multilayered structure mounted between the integrated circuit chip and the device. The multilayered structure has signal pathways that transfer signals between the integrated circuit chip and the device, and at least one signal pathway with a first wireless coupling element in the multilayered structure that is in communication with a second wireless coupling element in one of the integrated circuit chip, the device, and the multilayered structure.
