A hook and loop system for attaching a roofing membrane into the top of a building insulation board including a roofing membrane with a fleece backing having a release sheet on the fleece backing. The release sheet is manually removed in the field to attach the fleece backing directly onto a layer of hooks that have been pre-attached onto the top of the insulation board. The release layer may be somewhat sticky, yet not adhere too tightly to the fleece layer such that its removal does not damage the fleece backing. The release layer may also be pre-rolled together with the fleece backed roofing membrane and shipped together as a unit into the field.

A membrane system, having a waterproof woven polymer reinforcing scrim disposed between two layers of a thermoplastic polymer membrane; and an optional layer of concrete activated adhesive applied on top of a center portion, but not to the edges of the thermoplastic polymer membrane so that the edges of adjacent membranes can be thermally welded together to form a waterproof seal for use in blindside waterproofing or roofing applications.

A fire-resistant polymeric membrane includes a polymer layer such as PVC, TPO, or EPDM affixed to a carbon fiber composite. The carbon fiber composite includes one or two layers of non-woven carbon fibers and at least one of an inert fiber mat or a metal foil layer, wherein the metal foil layer has a melting temperature of at least about 660&#xb0; C. The present invention also provides an underlayment, wherein the underlayment is formed from one or more fibrous carbon layers affixed to at least one of an inert fiber mat or a metal foil having a melting temperature greater than 660&#xb0; C.
