A wheel assembly that may be installed on, and removed from, an axle without the need for tools. The wheel assembly includes a wheel, at least one clip supported by the wheel, and a cover securing the clip in position. The wheel assembly is mountable on an axle including a circumferential groove and is retained on the axle by the extension of the clip into the groove. The clip includes an actuator arm extending away from the plane of the wheel so as to be readily accessible for actuation by one's fingers. Actuation of the arm withdraws the clip from the groove to release the wheel from the axle. Preferably two clips are provided diametrically opposite one another, enabling both arms to be actuated simultaneously in a pinching operation.

Wheel assembly for trash/recycling cart

A waste cart includes a container having first and second wall portions, and first and second openings defined by the wall portions to receive and support a grab bar. The container includes at least one positioning element to constrain the lateral movement of the grab bar. During assembly, the first end of the grab bar is inserted through the opening in the first sidewall, and the grab bar is pivoted to align the grab bar with the opening in the second sidewall. During the pivoting of the grab bar, the first positioning element is deformed. The second end of the grab bar is inserted into the opening in the second sidewall, allowing the first positioning element to snap back to its original, non-deformed orientation. When the grab bar is installed, the positioning elements are positioned at the outer ends of the grab bar.

A method of forming a container includes providing a mold including at least one bulbous protrusion. The mold is closed to form a mold cavity corresponding to the shape of the container, with the bulbous protrusion being positioned in the mold cavity. Material is injected into the mold cavity to form the container, and the material envelopes the bulbous protrusion to create an undercut slot. The container is removed from the mold and the bulbous protrusion is withdrawn from the slot.

Waste container and related method of manufacture

A waste cart includes a container having a wall, with a pocket formed in an outer surface of the wall that creates a first sidewall facing a second sidewall, with an opening formed in both sidewalls. A grab bar has a free-sliding end and a retention end. The free-sliding end is inserted through the opening in the first sidewall, and the retention end is inserted through the opening in the second sidewall. The retention end includes a retainer for securing the grab bar with respect to the second sidewall. In the current embodiment, the grab bar includes a snap element near the retention end and a flange portion between the snap element and the free-sliding end. When the grab bar is installed, a portion of the second sidewall is positioned between the snap element and the flange portion.

A stackable refuse cart includes a container, an axle, a set of wheels. The container includes first and second axle supports. The first axle support supports the axle in an operative position to rotatably support the container. The second axle support supports the axle in a stowage position enabling the container to be stacked with other containers without interference from the axles. In one embodiment, the second axle support includes a recess defined in the floor of the container. In another embodiment, the second axle support includes a pair of supports that hold the axle against a sidewall within the container. In yet another embodiment, the second axle support is a cradle integral with the container handle.

A drawer pedestal including a structural support for reinforcing working surfaces of the pedestal. The drawer pedestal includes a shell and a substructure that define a cavity. The shell includes a panel that forms the top surface of the pedestal. A first structure, preferably defining a compartment, projects into the cavity. The support includes first and second side panels connected to one another by a top support panel. In a preferred embodiment, the support is frictionally fit between the first structure and the top panel of the shell to reinforce that top panel. In a more preferred embodiment, the support is constructed from expanded polystyrene foam. The support optionally includes openings that accept guide tabs on the substructure or shell of the drawer pedestal.

A soft-touch drawer pull including a substantially rigid substrate and a rubber-like plastic attached to the outer surface of the substrate. The substrate preferably includes teeth or catches on an inner surface that interact with corresponding recesses or holes on a drawer unit or other article to allow the drawer pull to be easily secured to the unit or article. Preferably, the drawer pull further includes catches that interact with snaps on a drawer to further secure the drawer pull to the drawer.

Soft-touch drawer pull

A drawer pedestal including a shell and a substructure that snap together. The substructure includes multiple locking tabs around a peripheral flange that interlock with slots defined by a peripheral rim of the shell so that the two pieces can be easily snapped together. At least one of the shell and the substructure include guide tabs to guide the two parts into the appropriate position for interlocking. The invention also provides a method for assembling the drawer pedestal including: positioning the substructure adjacent to the shell; aligning first and second locking structures on the substructure and shell; and moving at least one of the shell and the substructure toward one another until the first and second locking structure engages one another.

A waste container having a wheel assembly comprising an axle assembly on which are slidably mounted a pair of wheels. The axle assembly comprises a pultruded shaft with opposing end caps. The end caps have an indentation for receiving a retainer to retain the wheels on the shaft.

A refuse container constructed of a rigid plastic material comprises a walled storage bin having substantially vertical walls extending upwardly from a bottom wall. The refuse container includes a wheel-bearing axle mounted to the lower rear portion of the storage bin and at least one wheel mounted to a front portion of the storage bin. To prevent downward deflection of the storage bin bottom wall, the refuse container also includes a brace disposed beneath the bottom wall which mounts to the rear axle and the front portion of the storage bin to reinforce the bottom wall.

A reusable, releasably lockable wheel assembly comprising a wheel having a centrally disposed hub defining an aperture in which is received an axle. A spring having diametrically opposed lugs is disposed on one side of the hub and the lugs extend into the aperture of the hub so that when the axle is inserted into the aperture, the lugs are biased into the groove on the end of the axle to lock the wheel to the axle. The lugs can be forced outwardly by a tool to withdraw the lugs from the groove so that the axle can be unlocked with respect to the wheel for removal of the wheel. In one embodiment, cooperation between a wheel cover and the spring limits slidable movement between the wheel and axle. In another embodiment, cooperation between an end cap on the wheel hub and the spring limits the slidable movement.

Wheel assembly

A waste container having a container body to an upper portion of which is pivotally mounted a lid. A wheel and axle assembly is mounted to a lower portion of the container body to aid in the movement of the waste container. The waste container has an upper handle disposed near the upper portion of the container body and a lift handle disposed near the lower portion of the container body in opposing and vertically aligned relationship to the upper handle. The opposing relationship of the upper handle and the lift handle provides for a person to grasp the upper handle and the lift handle to lift and invert the waste container into a receiving vehicle to dump the contents of the waste container.
