A candidate selection system that generates data-driven candidate selections of large populations of submitted r&#xe9;sum&#xe9;s using common independent assessment variables and against desired qualities is described. A processor executing the candidate selection program is pre-programmed to include a listing of desired qualities that the ideal candidate for the position should possess. Each submitted r&#xe9;sum&#xe9; is reviewed and data input from the r&#xe9;sum&#xe9;s is normalized to produce values representing weighted scores unique to the specific candidate and in terms of the sought-after desired dependant qualities.

Methods and apparatus for selecting candidates to interview

A method and apparatus is provided for field balancing an assembly including a power turbine. The method includes coupling the power turbine to a load, identifying a first balancing plane that is aft of the power turbine, and identifying a second balancing plane that is forward of the power turbine. A balancing correction is determined at each of the first and second balancing planes. A balance weight is mounted at the first balancing plane based on the balancing correction determined for the first balancing plane, and a balance weight is mounted at the second balancing plane based on the balancing correction determined for the second balancing plane, wherein each balance weight at the second balancing plane is coupled to a respective bolt head without removing the bolt.

Method and apparatus for balancing gas turbine engines

A method for enables a gas turbine engine to be assembled. The method comprises forming at least one substantially elliptically-shaped opening within a flange extending from a fan disk, inserting a fastener including a first body portion, a second body portion, and an anti-rotation stop extending therebetween, at least partially through the at least one flange opening, and coupling the fastener to the flange such that the fastener stop is positioned within the at least one flange opening.

Methods and apparatus for assembling gas turbine engines

Bolt hole stress in rotor disks having bolted joints is reduced by passing relatively hot secondary flow path air (such as compressor discharge air) through each bolt hole to heat the disk from inside the bolt hole. In doing so, the temperature distribution in the area of the bolt hole is made more uniform and the stress is dramatically reduced. The bolted joint includes a bolt hole formed in a first rotor disk and a bolt disposed in the bolt hole such that a channel is defined between the bolt and the bolt hole. A first nut or abutment is attached to a first end of the bolt, and a second nut or abutment is attached to a second end of the bolt. A first passage associated with the first abutment provides fluid communication with the channel, and a second passage associated with the second abutment provides fluid communication with the channel, thereby allowing the relatively hot fluid to pass through the channel during engine operation.
