Various embodiments of a spray gun converter () and a spray gun system that includes such converter () are disclosed. The spray gun converter () includes a body () having a first end () configured for insertion into an air passage of a spray gun (), a second end () having a converter fitting () configured for connection to a reservoir (), and a reservoir air passage () extending through the body () from an inlet end () at the first end to an outlet end () on the converter fitting () at the second end. The spray gun converter () also includes a reservoir air control valve () that opens and closes the reservoir air passage ().

A liquid spray gun nozzle assembly is disclosed comprising a coating liquid inlet portion and a coating liquid outlet portion, and a coating liquid flow path connecting the coating liquid inlet with the coating liquid outlet. The spray gun connection portion opposite the coating liquid outlet portion is adapted to connect the liquid spray gun nozzle assembly to a compatible liquid spray gun body. The spray gun connection portion includes a liquid sealing member configured to facilitate provision of a liquid needle within a liquid needle zone and an air sealing member configured to isolate an air zone. The air sealing member includes a tapering rim. The liquid sealing member and the air sealing member are circular in shape.

Spray gun and nozzle assembly attachment

A liquid spray gun nozzle assembly is disclosed comprising a coating liquid inlet portion and a coating liquid outlet portion, and a coating liquid flow path connecting the coating liquid inlet with the coating liquid outlet. The spray gun connection portion opposite the coating liquid outlet portion is adapted to connect the liquid spray gun nozzle assembly to a compatible liquid spray gun body. The spray gun connection portion includes a first access window formed in a body of the liquid spray gun nozzle assembly proximate to the liquid flow path and a third sealing member configured to facilitate provision of a liquid needle within a liquid needle zone. The third sealing member having a distal end protruding beyond a first or second sealing member.

A liquid spray gun nozzle assembly is disclosed comprising a coating liquid inlet portion comprising a liquid connector for connection to an external liquid source; a coating liquid outlet portion comprising a liquid nozzle for spraying a coating liquid fed into the nozzle assembly through the coating liquid inlet portion, the liquid nozzle being disposed along a spray axis; a coating liquid flow path fluidly connecting the coating liquid inlet portion to the liquid nozzle; and a spray gun connection portion opposite the coating liquid outlet portion adapted to connect the liquid spray gun nozzle assembly to a compatible liquid spray gun body. The spray gun connection portion comprises a nozzle assembly sealing surface adapted to seal the liquid spray gun nozzle assembly to the compatible liquid spray gun body, the nozzle assembly sealing surface comprising first and second sealing members that are each circular and concentric with one another.

Provided are nozzle assemblies for a spraying apparatus having an outer wall () having opposed inner and outer surfaces, a central aperture () extending through the outer wall, and a pair of auxiliary apertures () disposed on the outer wall (). Each auxiliary aperture is aligned along a respective auxiliary axis () and areas of the inner surface () of the outer wall () adjacent to the auxiliary apertures () are countersunk to define ledges () that are axially symmetric about the auxiliary axes (). These assemblies obviate problems associated with rotatable molding pins and also provide the unexpected advantage of providing axial alignment of the air flow profile as air is emitted from the auxiliary apertures.

A liquid spray gun nozzle assembly is disclosed comprising a spray gun connection portion opposite a coating liquid outlet portion adapted to connect the liquid spray gun nozzle assembly to a compatible liquid spray gun body, the spray gun connection portion comprising an outer wall comprising a radially-outward facing surface; first and second camming members disposed on the radially-outward facing surface, each camming member comprising first end, a second end, and a camming surface facing the coating liquid outlet portion; a first access window separating the first end of the first camming member from the second end of the second camming member; and a second access window separating the first end of the second camming member from the second end of the first camming member.

A barrel for use with a liquid spray gun platform to provide a liquid spray gun comprises a main body and an inseparable nozzle. The main body comprises at least one center air delivery passage and at least one liquid-handling passage. The inseparable nozzle defines a liquid-emitting orifice that is in fluid communication with the at least on liquid-handling passage of the main body, and defines a center air orifice that is in fluid communication with the at least on center air delivery passage of the main body.

Vent assemblies movable between a vented position and a non-vented position are described along with reservoirs in which the vent assemblies may be used. The vent assemblies each include an aperture and a closure member. The closure member is configured for movement along a cam surface to generate a compressive force such that a sealing surface on the closure member is forced against the wall of the reservoir and over the aperture such that the vent assembly is in the non-vented position. The closure member movement may be, e.g., rotational or linear (i.e., translational) when moving between the vented and unvented positions.
