A cooling block for cooling pistons of a multi-cylinder air compressor is disclosed. The cooling block may comprise a body including a first end and a second end on opposing sides of the body. The cooling block may further comprise a first cooling nozzle near the first end, and a second cooling nozzle near the second end. The first cooling nozzle and the second cooling nozzle may each include an orifice through which coolant is sprayed into a crankcase of the multi-cylinder air compressor.

An air system and method includes an air compressor, a temperature sensors, a valve, and a controller. The air compressor is configured to receive filtered air. The temperature sensor is positioned at or near an outlet of the air compressor and configured to sense a temperature at or near the outlet of the air compressor. The valve is operatively connected to an outlet of the air compressor and external to the air compressor. The controller is configured to monitor the sensed temperature at the outlet of the air compressor and control the valve to permit air to flow from the outlet of the air compressor through the valve to unload the air compressor if the sensed temperature exceeds a threshold temperature.

A method for operating an air intake system for an engine is disclosed. The air intake system includes an air filter configured to provide filtered air to the engine for combustion. The method includes activating a blower, by a controller, to generate suction and draw purged contaminants from the air filter for facilitating a purging of the air filter. The method further includes deactivating the blower, by the controller, upon a determination of a completion of the purging of the air filter.

The present disclosure relates to an exhaust scavenging system for an engine system including an engine enclosed in an engine enclosure and an air intake system including an air filter having a filter element for filtering air. The exhaust scavenging system includes an exhaust conduit, a venturi, and a valve system. The exhaust conduit is coupled to the engine and is configured to receive exhaust gas discharged by the engine. The venturi is associated with the exhaust conduit and operates to generate a suction to draw air from the air filter and the engine enclosure. The valve system is configured to selectively fluidly connect the venturi with the engine enclosure or the air filter. The valve system fluidly connects the venturi with the air filter for facilitating purging of the filter element of the air filter.

Exhaust scavenging system for an engine system

A cooling system is provided for an engine. The cooling system may have an air cooler configured to cool intake air being supplied to the engine. The cooling system may also have a sensor configured to generate a temperature signal indicative of a temperature of the intake air and a fan in proximity to the air cooler. The cooling system may further have a controller in communication with the sensor and the fan. The controller may be configured to cause the fan to operate at a speed that is a function of the temperature signal when the temperature of the intake air is above a threshold temperature. The controller may further be configured to selectively cause the fan to pulse when the temperature of the intake air drops below the threshold temperature.

A transmission system is disclosed as having a transmission configured to receive torque output from a power source and to drive a traction device, and an input device. The transmission system may also have a control module configured to reference a signal from the input device with a map to determine a corresponding speed of the power source, and to determine a margin between an actual and a maximum available torque output of the power source at a current speed. The control module may also be configured to determine a delay time threshold based on the margin, to selectively adjust a speed of the power source mapped to the maximum displaced position of the operator input device based on the margin, and to selectively adjust fueling of the power source at a current displacement position of the operator input device and operation of the transmission based on the signal and the map.

A power system is disclosed as having a power source, a transmission configured to receive a torque output from the power source and to drive a traction device, and an operator input device. The power system may also have a controller configured to reference a signal from the operator input device with a map stored in memory to determine a corresponding speed of the power source, and to determine a margin between an actual and a maximum available torque output of the power source at a current speed. The controller may also be configured to selectively adjust a speed of the power source mapped to the maximum displaced position of the operator input device based on the margin, and to selectively adjust fueling of the power source at a current displacement position of the operator input device and operation of the transmission based on the signal and map.

A transmission system is disclosed for use with an engine. The transmission system may have a plurality of gear sets, an input member configured to be powered by the engine and to drive the plurality of gear sets, an output member driven by the plurality of gear sets, and at least one clutch configured to selectively engage select gears of the plurality of gear sets. The transmission system may also have a controller in communication with the engine. The controller may be configured to generate an estimated temperature of the at least one clutch. The controller may further be configured to selectively derate the engine based on the estimated temperature.

Transmission system having temperature based input control

A system and method for providing engagement of a dog clutch differential on a vehicle are disclosed. The system may comprise a power source, a dog clutch differential, a CVT and a controller. The dog clutch differential may have first and second members and may distribute torque between first and second output shafts. The second member may be moveable between a disengaged and an engaged position. When the second member is in the engaged position, the first and second output shafts may rotate together. The CVT may be configured to receive power from the power source and to provide output torque to the dog clutch differential. The CVT may receive a torque or speed or ratio command that is independent of engine speed. The controller may, in response to an activation trigger, move the second member to the engaged position when the output torque from the CVT is about zero.

A machine powertrain having a transmission includes a control device responsive to selectively vary the transmission ratio in response to a shift signal. A lift sensor associated with a machine implement monitors an implement position and provides a lift signal. A ground speed sensor monitors the ground speed and provides a ground speed signal. A controller monitors the lift and ground speed signals, compares the lift signal to a predetermined position range, compares the ground speed signal to a predetermined ground speed range and, when the ground speed signal is within the predetermined ground speed range and the lift signal is within the predetermined position range, provides the shift signal causing the selectively variable ratio of the transmission to change.

Automatic shift control system for a powertrain and method

A rollback prevention system is disclosed for use with a mobile machine having an engine and a transmission. The rollback prevention system may have an input device configured to receive an input indicative of a desired travel direction of the mobile machine, a sensor configured to generate a signal indicative of an actual travel direction of the mobile machine, and a controller in communication with the input device, the sensor, the engine, and the transmission. The controller may be configured to make a determination that the actual travel direction of the mobile machine is opposite the desired travel direction based on the signal, and determine a load on the transmission. The controller may also be configured to selectively increase a torque output of the transmission based on the determination only when the load on the transmission is less than a threshold value.

A method for controlling an operational state of a differential of a machine is disclosed. The method includes determining a transmission output speed, a transmission output torque and a degree of steering of the machine. The method further includes actuating a locking mechanism associated with the differential based on the transmission output speed, the transmission output torque, and the degree of steering.

A machine comprising powertrain components, an engine that applies power to powertrain components, and a hybrid motor that applies power to powertrain components. The machine includes an electronic control module that controls the hybrid motor to apply power to powertrain components. The machine includes an engine parameter sensor. The method includes commanding a maximum transmission output torque; comparing the commanded output torque to a feedback torque to determine if they are equal; and incrementally increasing the transmission output torque until equal. A machine and a powertrain include a controller configured to command a maximum negative transmission output torque in response to a transient torque event, and incrementally increase the transmission output torque until such time as the transmission output torque is equal to or within a preset range of the feedback torque.
