An assembly provides electrical current to molten glass in a glass melting tank. The assembly includes a structure having an electrode that is in contact with the molten glass, and a fluid-cooled connection apparatus. The fluid-cooled connection apparatus includes a first connection element electrically connected to a current source and a second connection element electrically connected to the current source, where the first and second connection elements are spaced apart from each other; and an electrical cross-connect strut having a first end secured to the first connection element and a second end secured to the second connection element. The assembly also includes a bus bar electrically connected to the fluid-cooled connection apparatus and to an electrode. The current source provides a current to the molten glass via the structure and the electrode for heating the molten glass through resistive heating.

Bus bar design to enable high current input for low resistivity glasses

In embodiments, a method for operating a glass manufacturing apparatus may include heating a delivery conduit with resistive windings positioned around an exterior surface of the delivery conduit, the delivery conduit extending between a mixing vessel and a delivery vessel. The method may also include injecting electric current through the delivery conduit while heating the delivery conduit with resistive windings and prior to flowing molten glass through the delivery conduit thereby increasing a temperature of the of the delivery conduit, wherein an input heat flux into the delivery conduit is greater than an output heat flux away from the delivery conduit prior to flowing molten glass through the delivery conduit.

A shielded paint roller for use in paint edging work, having paint roller sock filling and painting orientation control capability and including a thumb operated lock to maintain the roller sock in a painting position while paint is being applied.

Paint roller thumb locking means

A pivoting split thread chasing die for rethreading and cleaning damaged or inhibited studs or bolts; and a method of manufacturing the die. The identical main body halves of the pivoting split die, when assembled together with an assembly pin form a pivoting split die with opposing front and rear faces and a hexagonal outside periphery. Threads are formed on the inside periphery of the pivoting split die allowing for engagement with the threads of a stud or bolt. One or more material reliefs are formed on the inside periphery of the pivoting split die to enhance the cleaning and rethreading ability of the pivoting split die threads. These reliefs also serve as points for which debris can escape while performing a rethreading procedure. To rethread or clean a damaged or inhibited bolt or stud, apply an appropriate lubricant to the area to be rethreaded or cleaned. Open up the pivoting split die and install around existing good threads of the stud or bolt and close pivoting split die until minimal closure gap exists. Select the appropriate wrenching tool and work the pivoting split die back and forth (counter-clockwise and clockwise) over the damaged or inhibited threads until the pivoting split die begins to move about the threads freely.

Thread chasing tool and method

A pivoting split nut and spacer assembly used in a method of removing failed glow plugs from diesel engines. Main body halves of the split nut, when assembled together with a pin form the pivoting split nut with opposing front and rear faces, a hexagonal outside periphery and threads on the inside periphery allowing for engagement with the threads of the glow plug. The spacer assembly is fabricated by forming cylindrical spacer bodies, forming lead-in gaps, and tether cables through holes for the tether cables. The tether cables are connected to a cable ring. After removing the sensor wire from the glow plug, a wrenching tool is used to unscrew the glow plug until all threads are exposed. A failure deformation, e.g. swelling on the heating element of the glow plug, is extracted through the narrow combustion chamber passage on a diesel engines' head by installing the pivoting split nut onto the glow plug threads and a spacer between the head and pivoting split nut. A gripping tool is installed onto the pivoting split nut to secure in place and a wrenching tool is installed onto the glow plug. By unscrewing the glow plug, the failure deformation is drawn through the chamber passage.

Method for removing failed glow plug

A paint roller edge guard apparatus facilitating the painting of a wall surface adjacent a non-painted surface from the application of paint to the non-painted surface from the roller sock. The apparatus comprises a handle and an edge guard having four edges and front and back faces. The edge guard is pivotally and rotatable supported on the handle. The roller is rotatably supported on the handle such that the roller may be rotated between a painting position, wherein the roller sock longitudinal axis is perpendicular to and adjacent the edge guard front face, and a filling position wherein the roller sock longitudinal axis is parallel to the edge guard front face. The roller sock may be placed in contact with the painted wall by application of pressure to the handle deflecting the edge guard rearward allowing the roller sock to contact the painted wall surface. In an alternative embodiment, the roller and edge guard may be mounted on separate handle portions such that the edge guard and roller may be separated by separating the handle portions. A toothed roller may also be associated with the roller to facilitate its rotation on slick surfaces.
