In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may identify a beam management window based at least in part on one or more downlink traffic parameters satisfying a window opening condition. The UE may perform a beam sweep on a set of beams associated with one or more physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) demodulation reference signal (DMRS) transmissions that are received during the beam management window. The UE may select, among the set of beams associated with the one or more PDSCH DMRS transmissions received during the beam management window, a beam to use to communicate with a network node based at least in part on one or more metrics associated with each respective beam included in the set of beams. Smart window determination for beam sweep on physical downlink shared channel demodulation reference signal

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which a user equipment (UE) may perform beam measurements for one or more subsets of beams that are selected to provide enhanced beam switch determinations. The UE may identify one or more prioritized beams, and may measure the prioritized beams at a same periodicity as measurements of a serving beam. The UE may, additionally or alternatively, identify a set of all layer one beams (e.g., maximum-level beams or top level beams) for measurement according to a periodic interval, based on a measured mobility being less than a threshold value. The periodic interval may provide that each layer one beam may be measured at a cadence of one beam per measurement occasion, in order to provide measurement diversity.

Techniques for beam selection based on measurement periodicities

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may select a set of candidate UE beams for measuring channel state information (CSI) reference signal (CSI-RS) based on one or more power measurements for uplink transmissions. The UE may measure multiple synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) using the set of candidate UE beams and select a subset of the selected candidate beams based on the SSB measurements. The UE may measure spectral efficiency via the resource carrying the CSI-RS using the subset of candidate UE beams and select a serving beam from the subset based on the spectral efficiency of each beam. The UE may calculate the power measurements based on a difference between a power threshold and a reference power value for each candidate beam.

Techniques for beam selection with uplink consideration

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may identify, for each of one or more candidate beams in a set of candidate beams, a downlink throughput, an uplink throughput, a downlink power consumption, and an uplink power consumption. The UE may select a beam based at least in part on: at least one of the downlink throughput or the uplink throughput, at least one of the downlink power consumption or the uplink power consumption, and one or more throughput thresholds. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may allocate a first amount of power to one or more radios for a time window based on radio frequency (RF) exposure information and one or more other criteria. The UE may allocate a second amount of power to a selected channel or communication utilized by at least one radio of the one or more radios for one or more time frames within the time window based on the first amount of power allocated to the at least one radio for the time window. Techniques for discontinuous reception cycle based measurement gaps

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may transmit assistance information to a base station to request an update or a modification to one or more communication parameters configured at the UE. Such communication parameters may include a quantity of uplink multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) layers, a quantity of downlink MIMO layers, a minimum scheduling offset, a maximum quantity of component carriers, or a maximum aggregated bandwidth for a secondary cell group (SCG). In some implementations, the UE may transmit the assistance information requesting the update or modification to one or more of such communication parameters based on detecting that the UE satisfies one or more triggering conditions or thresholds.

Techniques for providing assistance information for reduced MIMO layers

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may be configured to select a set of beams to generate energy in a first coverage region (e.g., an out-of-coverage (OOC) region) to reduce the effects of a distorted electric field. The UE may select the set of beams based on gain parameters associated with a set of antennas at the UE, where the gain parameters are determined for communications in a second coverage region (e.g., an in-coverage (INC) region). In some examples, the UE may use iterative techniques to select the beams. In some examples, the UE may select the set of beams based on calculations using a set of codebook beams associated with the second coverage region. In some examples, the UE may additionally select the set of beams for communications in the second coverage region.

Techniques for separated beam design

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may initiate a broadcast or multicast (broadcast/multicast) application associated with a first radio access technology (RAT) while the UE is in a standalone mode for a second RAT; switch from the second RAT to the first RAT based at least in part on initiating the broadcast/multicast application; and switch from the first RAT to the second RAT based at least in part on failing to detect a communication associated with the broadcast/multicast application using the first RAT. Broadcast or multicast support for standalone mode

This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatuses for sharing a maximum transmit power limit between a first radio access technology (RAT) and a second RAT. In one aspect, a wireless communication apparatus may reduce the maximum transmit power limit of a first uplink signal associated with the first RAT to obtain a first transmit power. The wireless communication apparatus may allocate a second transmit power remaining from the maximum transmit power limit to a second uplink signal associated with the second RAT. The wireless communication apparatus may reduce the maximum transmit power limit when the wireless communication apparatus is located at a cell edge, and a higher priority of the first RAT in relation to the second RAT may otherwise result in the second transmit power of the second uplink signal not satisfying a threshold.

Modifying transmit powers of uplink signals associated with different radio access technologies (RATs)

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, an apparatus may determine a time-averaged power limit of a set of antennas. The apparatus may modify an antenna switching configuration based at least in part on the time-averaged power limit. The apparatus may transmit a signal using an antenna, from the set of antennas, associated with the modified antenna switching configuration, wherein the antenna is associated with a higher power limit than one or more other antennas. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may identify a first transmit power limit based at least in part on at least one of a specific absorption rate limit, a maximum permissible exposure limit, or a power density limit. Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for receive chain selection at a user equipment (UE) with efficient switching between a reduced number of receive chains and an increased number of receive chains for downlink communications based on conditions at the UE. A UE may adaptively adjust the number of active receive chains based on downlink grant activity, channel conditions, network parameters, or any combinations thereof. An estimator block at the UE may determine to adjust the number of receive chains based on a number of downlink grants within one or more time periods. In some cases, grants for an amount of data that exceeds a threshold may be qualified in order to be counted at the estimation block. Further, a transient state may be provided where the UE may maintain a higher number of active receive chains until UE feedback is provided.

Receive diversity techniques in wireless communications

Techniques and devices for wireless communication are described. A communication device may identify a set of beam level selection parameters. The set of beam level selection parameters may include traffic information, channel information, application information, or any combination thereof. The communication device may select, based on the identified set of beam level selection parameters, a beam level, from a set of beam levels, different from a baseline beam level associated with the wireless communication. The selected beam level may be associated with a number of antenna elements different from a number of antenna elements associated with the baseline beam level. The communication device may perform the wireless communication based on the selected beam level.
