A hydraulic recoil buffer assembly for a firearm having a receiver and a fixed or collapsible stock assembly including an end cylinder adapted to be secured to the pistol grip or receiver of the firearm and slidably translatable with respect to the extension tube, and a hydraulic shock absorption assembly operative to produce a hydraulic resistance to a rearward movement of the end cylinder during recoil of the firearm. The hydraulic shock absorption assembly has an orifice restricted fluid flow passage and a piston head that compresses a return spring as the end cylinder moves rearward against a recoil coil spring. The recoil buffer assembly stores a portion of the recoil energy through compression of the recoil spring and the return spring, and dissipates a portion of the recoil energy through the resistance provided by fluid flow through the orifice restricted flow passage.

Hydraulic recoil buffer assembly

A load isolation system for a component includes at least one isolation assembly. The at least one isolation assembly includes a first mounting plate and a second mounting plate, each of which are parallel to one another and are structurally connected to one another. At least two isolation subsystems are integrated into the isolation assembly in which a first isolation subsystem is disposed between the first mounting plate and an intermediate plate for isolating the component from lateral motions and a second isolation subsystem is disposed between the intermediate plate and the second mounting plate for isolating vertical motions in which the first mounting plate is attached to a fixed support and the second mounting plate is attached to the component.

Multi-axial base isolation system

A hydraulic bolt buffer assembly for an automatic firearm, the firearm including a receiver having a longitudinal chamber, a bolt and carrier assembly mounted in the chamber for reciprocating movement between a recoil position and a battery position, a spring for urging the buffer into contact with the bolt and carrier assembly for movement therewith and for biasing said bolt and carrier assembly toward the battery position. The buffer assembly includes a housing having an inner cavity, as well as a piston disposed within the inner cavity of the housing that is movable between an extended position and a depressed position, the piston being in contact with the bolt and carrier assembly. The buffer further includes a spring for biasing the piston in the extended position, as well as a bearing member in fixed relation in the housing and permitting a fluid tight seal with the interior of the buffer housing. The bearing further includes a cavity for retaining an accumulator disposed in a fluid chamber and in which movement of the piston based on movement of the bolt and carrier assembly causes hydraulic fluid contained in a first fluid chamber of said cavity to be moved to a second fluid chamber of said cavity containing the accumulator to slow the firing rate of the firearm.

Hydraulic bolt buffer for firearm

A recoil pad for a shoulder firearm includes at least one piston member that is caused to move axially from an initial axial position to a second axial position upon application of the recoil force from the firearm. The axial movement of the piston member causes fluid movement within a column relative to a variable or fixed orifice area wherein the fluid movement causes resistance that absorbs the energy. A mechanical and/or hydraulic and/or elastomeric feature returns the piston to the initial axial position upon cessation of the applied recoiling force.

Hydraulastic recoil pad for a shoulder firearm

A double acting mechanical shock isolator that includes a stack of friction springs contained within a housing. The stack is retained between the end walls of the housing by a pair of opposed slides. A sleeve passes through the stack and the ends of the sleeve are contained within opposing slides. The ends of the sleeve are connected to the slides by lost motion devices so that the sleeve is engaged by one of the containing slides when the sleeve moves toward the opposing slide and releases the slide when the sleeve moves in the opposite direction so that the stack is loaded in compression when the sleeve is moved axially in either direction.

Mechanical double acting shock isolator

A control apparatus associated with a hydraulic lock that contains a piston rod and an operating pin slidably contained within piston rod. A conduit contains a proximal end connected to a push button unit and a distal end connected to a lever arm assembly. The lever arm assembly contains a platform secured to the terminal end of the piston rod and a lever arm rotatably mounted over the operating pin. A cable extends through the conduit between a rocker arm in the push button unit and the lever arm so that when the button is depressed, the operating pin is moved from an inoperative position to an operative position. A locking plate is pivotally mounted upon the distal end of the conduit and arranged to move over the top surface of the platform into locking engagement with the piston rod. A cutout is formed in the plate which engages a groove formed in the terminal end of the piston rod to lock the lever arm assembly to the rod with the lever arm in position to engage the operating shaft.

Control apparatus for hydraulic lock

A double acting shock isolator that includes a cylindrical housing having a radially expanded chamber therein. The housing is closed at one end and open at the other end and a connector is mounted at the closed end. A stack of friction rings are mounted in a preloaded condition between the ends of the expanded chamber and a rod passes into the open end of the housing and through the stack. A pair of spaced apart raised flanges are mounted upon the rod that engages either end of the stack. A second connector is mounted upon the distal end of the rod outside of the housing so that the stack of friction rings is further compressed uniformly when either a tensile force or a compressive force is applied to the connectors.

Double acting mechanical shock absorber

A pipe restraint (20) permits thermal expansion of a piping system (10), while inhibiting movement of the piping system during dynamic events and providing vibration isolation. The pipe restraint includes first and second displacement members (22) and (24), which are interconnected by a restraining mechanism (32) for restraining displacement of the first and second displacement members relative to one another. The restraining mechanism includes first and second portions, which generally oppose one another relative to the central axis of the restraining mechanism. The restraining mechanism further includes third and fourth portions, which also generally oppose one another relative to the central axis of the restraining mechanism. The third and fourth members are offset circumferentially about the central axis from the first and second members. The first and second portions are connected to one of the displacement members, while the third and fourth portions are connected to the other displacement member. The first, second, third, and fourth portions of the restraining mechanism are interconnected by a helical coil of energy absorbing wire rope.

Pipe restraint

A stroke-limiting stop for a fluid locking device wherein movement between a piston and cylinder is influenced by fluid in the device, the stop comprising a housing having internal shape and dimension enabling one end of the cylinder to move longitudinally within at least one formation on the inner surface of the housing, and a stop element within the housing and having a portion adapted to engage the formation establishing a fixed position on the stop element along the housing longitudinal axis, the stop element being supported within the housing for movement between positions wherein the portion of the element either engages the formation or is out of engagement therewith with so that the stop element in the first position acts as an abutment to contact the cylinder upon movement into the housing thereby limiting the extent of relative movement between the piston and cylinder. When the stop element is in the second position it can be moved along the housing longitudinal axis to another formation to adjust the stop location. The locking device can be provided with a reserve fluid path and supply to compensate for leakage of working fluid and expansion and contraction of working fluid due to temperature changes. The locking device with the stop arrangement of the present invention can be employed in aircraft and vehicle seats for limiting the degree of rearward tilt of the seat back.
