A system and a method for efficiently removing natural gas liquids from a natural gas stream at an elevated pressure and liquefying the natural gas stream at an elevated pressure by use of a turbo expander and a compressor.

System and process for liquefying high pressure natural gas

A closed loop single mixed refrigerant process and system wherein the process efficiency is increased by increasing the temperature of liquefied material produced in a heat exchange refrigeration zone and thereafter cooling the liquefied material by flashing a portion of the liquefied material to produce a cooler liquefied material and a flash gas a portion of which is recycled to the heat exchange refrigerator. The process and system provide increased process efficiency and flexibility.

Closed loop single mixed refrigerant process

It has been surprisingly discovered that the use of two different conventional defoamers give surprisingly and synergistic results when used together to suppress oil-based foams. The use of both a fluorosilicone together with a non-fluorinated siloxane give both reduced liquid carry over into a gas stream and reduced gas carry under into a liquid stream in a separation process. The fluorosilicone and non-fluorinated siloxane may be added together to a system producing an oil-based foam, or separately in any sequence. On some oil-based foams, the inventive blend achieves a level of performance unattainable by conventional defoamers at any dose. In most cases, better overall performance is obtained with the inventive foam suppressing blend at lower doses and less cost than with conventional defoamers used single.

Method and composition for suppressing oil-based foams

An improved closed loop single mixed refrigerant process and system for cooling a fluid material through a temperature range exceeding 200.degree. F. by heat exchange with a single mixed refrigerant in a closed loop refrigeration cycle comprising: compressing the mixed refrigerant in a first stage compressor; cooling the compressed mixed refrigerant from the first stage compressor to produce a first mixture of a first condensed portion of the mixed refrigerant, and a gaseous refrigerant; separating the first condensed portion of the mixed refrigerant from the gaseous refrigerant; passing the gaseous refrigerant to a second stage compressor and further compressing the gaseous refrigerant; cooling the second stage compressed gaseous refrigerant to produce a second mixture of a second condensed portion of the gaseous refrigerant and a second gaseous refrigerant; separating the second condensed portion of the gaseous refrigerant and the second gaseous refrigerant; combining the first condensed portion of the mixed refrigerant with the second condensed portion of the gaseous refrigerant and the second gaseous refrigerant; charging the compressed mixed refrigerant to a refrigeration zone where the compressed mixed refrigerant is cooled to produce a liquid, mixed refrigerant, and expanded to produce a low temperature coolant; passing the low temperature coolant in countercurrent heat exchange with the compressed mixed refrigerant and the fluid material to produce the liquid, mixed refrigerant, a cooled, liquid, fluid material and gaseous mixed refrigerant; and recycling the gaseous mixed refrigerant to the first stage compressor.
