A path prediction system includes a transceiver, a memory and a control module. The transceiver is configured to receive a map message at a host vehicle, the map message comprising path information of vehicles through an intersection. The memory is configured to store map data including global navigation satellite system information. The control module is configured to (i) determine if the host vehicle is approaching, at or in an intersection based on the map data, (ii) in response to determining that the host vehicle is approaching, at or in the intersection, predict a path of the host vehicle through the intersection based on the path information, and (iii) based on the predicted path of the host vehicle, perform at least one collision warning operation.

Path prediction based on intersection information from map messages

A remote station includes a transceiver, a memory and a control module. The memory is configured to store (i) baseline static paths of vehicles moving through an intersection, and (ii) map data. The control module is configured to obtain road obstruction information, based on the baseline static paths and the map data, determine whether the road obstruction information affects one or more of the baseline static paths of the vehicles through the intersection and update the one or more baseline static paths based on the road obstruction information, and broadcast, via the transceiver, a map message indicating the updated one or more baseline static paths.

Intersection-based offboard vehicle path generation

A roll-over alert system for a vehicle when navigating a curve in a road. The system includes a transceiver, a memory, and a control module. The transceiver is configured to receive a map message including a general curve speed recommendation for the curve. The memory is configured to store the map message and vehicle-specific data relevant to safely navigating the curve. The control module is configured to: (i) calculate a vehicle-specific curve speed based on the vehicle-specific data and the general curve speed recommendation included in the map message; and (ii) generate an alert to an operator of the vehicle when an actual vehicle speed exceeds the vehicle-specific curve speed during navigation of the curve by the vehicle.

V2-based roll-over alert in an intersection

A system for generating virtual lane markers of an intersection so that the virtual lane markers are visible to an operator of a vehicle at the intersection. The system includes a remote station having a transceiver, a remote memory module configured to store map data and baseline static paths of vehicles moving through the intersection, and a remote control module configured to broadcast via the transceiver a map message indicating the baseline static paths. A vehicle transceiver is configured to receive the map message. A vehicle control module is configured to generate virtual lane markers through the intersection based on the baseline static paths included with the received map message.

Lane monitoring during turns in an intersection

A vehicle system, comprising a vehicle transceiver located in the host vehicle configured to receive data indicative of a driving path of one or more remote vehicles, a processor in communication with the vehicle transceiver and programmed to output graphical images indicative of lane markers on a road to the display utilizing at least the driving path data, and a display configured to display the graphical images.

Virtual lane lines for connected vehicles

Methods and systems are disclosed and include receiving a first reporting signal from a vehicle-to-everything communication system. The first reporting signal includes data indicating (i) a noise measurement of a communication channel and (ii) a location associated with the noise measurement. The method includes determining the location is associated with a noisy region in response to a value of the noise measurement exceeding a first threshold value. The method includes generating an entry based on the first reporting signal in response to the value of the noise measurement exceeding the first threshold value. The method includes storing the entry in a database that includes a plurality of additional entries. The method includes generating an alert based on at least one of the entry and the plurality of additional entries. The alert is configured to indicate a presence of noise at a location associated with one of the entries.

Interference-aware applications for connected vehicles

Systems and methods of characterizing an inter-vehicle wireless (IVW) communication system of a vehicle under test (VUT) that includes a communication device are described. The VUT and an instrumentation antenna are positioned at first and second locations, respectively. An azimuth angle is varied between the communication device and the instrumentation antenna by performing rotation of (a) the VUT at the first location while leaving the instrumentation antenna fixed in the second location or (b) the instrumentation antenna in a circular path about the first location while leaving the VUT fixed in the first location. For each of specified azimuth angles, receive performance of the IVW communication system is tested by transmitting packets through the instrumentation antenna to the IVW communication system, receiving packets at the IVW communication system and estimating and recording an error rate indicating a level of success of packets being received by the IVW communication system.

System and measurement method for an inter-vehicle wireless communication system

A computerized method characterizes a dedicated short-range communications (DSRC) system that includes at least one DSRC device for use with a vehicle-to-vehicle communication system. The method includes positioning a vehicle under test (VUT) with the DSRC system at a first location and positioning a DSRC instrumentation antenna at a second location spaced apart from the first location. The method includes varying an azimuth angle between the DSRC device and the instrumentation antenna by performing a rotation of the VUT in place at the first location or the instrumentation antenna in a circular path about the first location. The method includes, for multiple azimuth angles, testing receive performance of the DSRC system by transmitting DSRC packets through the instrumentation antenna to the DSRC system, estimating an error rate indicating a level of success of DSRC packets being received by the DSRC system, and recording the error rate for each angle.
