Systems, methods, and devices for positioning, orienting, and/or aligning a stress sensor assembly are provided. Raw stress signals, which can correspond to stress in the target, can be generated by detecting a magnetic flux that travels through the target. The raw stress signals can be sensitive to an alignment of the sensor relative to the target. In order to minimize measurement error, the stress sensor can be properly aligned relative to the target prior to taking a stress measurement. Sensor alignment can involve adjusting a yaw, pitch, and/or roll of the sensor, measuring the raw stress signals, attenuating the detected magnetic flux, and measuring the raw stress signals again. When the stress sensor is properly aligned, a change in a size of a gap between the sensor and a surface of a target can result in approximately equal changes in the raw stress signal.

Non-contact magnetostrictive sensor alignment

An insulated accelerometer assembly is provided for attachment to a vibrated component. A base has a portion for engagement and connection with the vibrated component and to transmit vibration. An accelerometer senses vibration and is located at least partially within the base. A housing at least partially encloses the accelerometer and inhibits voltage discharge, corona damage, and voltage tracking on the accelerometer. The housing is made of an insulating material and has an interior for the accelerometer. The housing has a plurality of raised fins on the exterior. A mounting cap also inhibits voltage discharge, corona damage, and voltage tracking and secures the housing. The mounting cap is made of insulating material and has an exterior that includes a plurality of raised fins. A cable has an electrically conductive wire and has a shield to inhibit electrical noise.

Electronic stator end winding accelerometer sensor

A method for non-contact measurement of a displacement between a surface and a capacitive sensor comprised of at least two superimposed conductive plates electrically insulated one from the other and a sensor circuit coupled to the plates including: positioning the capacitive sensor proximate to the surface such that the displacement is a distance of a gap between the surface and one of the plates; applying a high frequency signal to the plates; applying the high frequency signal and a sensor plate to control a voltage gain of an amplifier in the circuit, where the capacitance on the sensor is indicative of the displacement between the sensor and surface; differentiating an output of the amplifier and the high frequency signal, and determining a value of the displacement based on the difference between the output of the amplifier and the high frequency signal.

Capacitive sensor and method for non-contacting gap and dielectric medium measurement

Methods and systems a method of assembling a proximity probe are provided. The method includes determining a coil wire dimension and coil geometry for the probe such that a resistance versus temperature profile of the coil is approximately constant when the coil is excited with an excitation frequency of approximately 150 kilohertz to approximately 350 kilohertz, and adjusting the coil geometry such that a resistance versus temperature profile of the coil is substantially constant.

Methods and systems for controlling the temperature stability of an inductor

A non-contact capacitive sensor including: a sensor plate configured to be displaced from a surface and to measure a capacitance of a gap between the surface and sensor plate; an active shield plate over the sensor plate and insulated from said sensor plate, wherein a high frequency input signal is applied to the active shield plate and sensor plate; an effective ground shield plate connected through a first resistor to a ground, over the active shield plate to sandwich the active shield plate between the ground shield plate and the sensor plate, and the ground shield plate is insulated from the active shield plate, and a second resistor connected between the ground shield plate and the active shield plate to provide a direct current (dc) path through the sensor.
