Cutting tool for cable sheathing

A cable sheath slitting tool comprising first and second opposing tool frame members wherein at least a portion of the tool frame members are movable toward and away from one another, a pair of opposing blades securable on the respective tool frame member, the blades having a blade tip extending toward each other and are movable toward and away from each other and a first and second tray securable on the first and second tool frame member, respectively, each of the first and second trays including a tray cavity wherein a cable may be secured in the cavity with the blade positioned to slit the cable when the tool is in a closed position with the tool frame member portions toward one another.

Outer sheath/buffer tube cable slitter

A cable shaving tool including a blade holder having a guide channel extending along the blade holder length. The guide channel includes a cable channel, and a control surface at opposing ends. A removable blade is secured to a blade support surface and the blade edge extends within the guide channel. The blade support and handle are disposed along a central axis. The shaving depth is determined by the differential between: (1) the distance from the cable channel to the bottom surface of the blade holder; and (2) the distance from the control surface to the bottom surface of the blade holder. The handle is secured to the blade holder and extends along the central axis, allowing an operator's hand to be positioned directly over the blade during a cut, apply a downward pressure on the cable to set the blade and then move the tool in a direction parallel to the cable length.

Shaving tool with upright handle

A cable-shaving tool for midspan shaving of a cable jacket includes a housing bottom having a first hinge member along an upper edge, a cavity, and at least one cable groove extending through a length of the housing bottom. The cable-shaving tool includes a second housing shell having an interior portion having at least one recess having an upper control surface, an exterior portion, and a second hinge member along a second housing shell edge engageable with the first hinge member wherein the second housing shell is rotatable about the first hinge member. The cable-shaving tool includes a blade removably securable between a blade holder and a blade support surface on the housing lid, the blade extending within a portion of the recess and a movable cable ramp disposed in the cavity of the bottom housing for urging the cable toward the blade when the second housing shell is in a closed position.

A rollable ribbon separator tool for separating fibers in a rollable ribbon, the rollable ribbon separator including a chassis having a length and a guide surface along the chassis length for receiving a first portion of a rollable ribbon in a flattened position, the guide surface for positioning the first portion of the rollable ribbon having a first node with selected fibers to be separated, the selected fibers being positioned flat on the guide surface. The rollable ribbon separator includes a blade securable to the chassis, the blade having a cutting edge positioned toward the guide surface at an acute angle to the guide surface. The angle of the blade cutting edge with respect to the guide surface allows the cutting edge to urge the first portion of the flattened ribbon fibers against the guide surface when the fibers are drawn through the chassis along the guide surface.

Rollable ribbon separator

A tool for removing insulation in mid-span of a cable carrying a signal-transmitting conduit comprising a lower body section and an upper body section movable toward and away from the lower body section. The tool includes a curved mandrel disposed on the lower body section, the curved mandrel having a central peak portion and adjacent portions curving downward away from the peak portion, to present a mid-span portion of the cable insulation on a side away from the mandrel peak portion. The tool includes a blade disposed on the upper body section, the blade movable toward and away from the curved mandrel. The cable is securable in the curved mandrel in a curved position, allowing the blade to shave the cable insulation allowing access to the signal-transmitting conduit. The tool may include an adjustment barrel having a plurality of height adjustment surfaces disposed at a different distance from the barrel axis, each height adjustment surface positioning the blade a different distance from the mandrel.

Fiber optic cable buffer tube mid-span access tool

An operator for a casement window is disclosed which includes a hub that frictionally receives a spindle. The hub is pivotally connected to a proximal end of a pivoting handle. The hub is disposed within a cavity that extends through the proximal end of the handle and terminates at a back wall. The cavity partially accommodates a biasing element, an actuator and the hub. The biasing element is disposed between the actuator and the back wall and biases the actuator towards the hub. The hub includes at least one open position recess and open position protrusion and the actuator includes a complementary protrusion and a recess wherein the protrusion is received in the at least one open position recess of the hub and the recess of the actuator receives the at least one open position protrusion of the hub when the handle is pivoted to the open position.

A latch for a window sash is disclosed. The latch includes a cover with a handle, a chassis, a bolt biased towards an extended position and containing a notch, a plunger biased towards the extended position and containing a guide, a rotary latch, pivotally connected to the chassis, containing a guide slot for receiving the guide and a protrusion biased towards the notch. The latch is operated wherein the bolt is locked in a retracted position when the handle slides the bolt inwardly towards the chassis and the protrusion engages the notch as the rotary latch rotates towards the notch, and wherein the bolt is released to the extended position when the plunger slides inwardly towards the chassis and the protrusion disengages from the notch as the rotary latch rotates away from the notch.

A two point lock includes two pivotally mounted security hooks having sliding faces that engage sliding faces of a spring-loaded mishandling pin when the mishandling pin is vertically extended and the security hooks are rotatably retracted. The mishandling pin is vertically retracted when it abuts a jamb. When the mishandling pin is vertically retracted, the sliding faces disengage so that the security hooks can rotate to lock onto a striker on the jamb. Thus, the mishandling pin prevents the security hooks from being slammed into the striker before a door or a window is fully closed.

Two point lock for doors and windows

An improved method of cutting a helical gear sector onto a pivoting arm of a casement window is disclosed. The method includes beginning with a pre-hardened flat sheet of steel stock and cutting the arm and the helical gear sector of the arm in two steps. The non-toothed portions of the arm are cut with a laser and nitrogen assist or shielding gas to prevent any oxidation to the non-toothed portions of the structure. The helical gear sector is also cut with a laser, but using oxygen assist gas. Use of the oxygen prevents recasts slag from accumulating in the gear sector. Thus, a finished part is completed with two laser cutting operations thereby eliminating the need for separate stamping, shaping, deburring and subsequent heat treatment processes used in conventional manufacturing methods. The subsequent heat treating is eliminated because a pre-hardened steel stock may be utilized.
