Water resistance sunscreen compositions

A cosmetic composition and a method for forming a water resistant cosmetic composition are disclosed. The composition includes a salt activatable component combination having a holoside compound and an alginate compound. The composition also includes at least one cosmetic active agent. The composition has an increased salt water resistance when the salt activatable component combination is activated by a salt activator compared to a composition without said salt activatable component combination.

Salt activatable water resistant cosmetic composition

Mineral sunscreen compositions having improved efficacy are described. The mineral sunscreen compositions include: (a) one or more mineral UV filtering agents; (b) one or more stilbenoids; (c) ethylhexylmethoxycrylene. (d) diethylhexyl syringylidenemalonate; and (e) a cosmetically acceptable carrier. The mineral sunscreen compositions provide a high sun protection factor (SPF) without requiring high amounts of mineral UV filtering agents. Also, the mineral sunscreen compositions are less opaque and white than traditional mineral sunscreen compositions making them aesthetically appealing to consumers.

Mineral sunscreen compositions with improved efficacy

Compositions containing (1) water, (2) at least one hydrophilic sunscreen active agent having a sulfonic acid group, (3) at least one surfactant selected from the group consisting of alkoxylated fatty alcohols, sorbitan esters, alkoxylated silicones, and mixtures thereof, and (4) at least one copolymer comprising at least one monomer comprising a carboxylic acid containing &#x3b1;,&#x3b2;-unsaturation, at least one monomer containing an ester of a carboxylic acid containing &#x3b1;,&#x3b2;-unsaturation, and at least one monomer containing an oxyalkylenated fatty alcohol are provided.

Water-based cosmetic compositions

The present disclosure relates to methods for protecting skin from UV radiation while simultaneously improving the appearance of skin. The methods include layered application of a skin perfecting composition and a sunscreen composition. The skin perfecting composition comprises: (i) about 1 to about 40 wt. % of at least one primary film forming polymer having a Young's modulus of 0.1 to 50 MPa, and elongation at break &#x3e;50% and a glass transition temperature of &#x3c;0&#xb0; C.; (ii) about 1 to about 35 wt. % of at least one pressure sensitive adhesive polymer; (iii) about 1 to about 35 wt. % of soft focus powder; and (iv) water. The sunscreen composition comprises: (i) at least one organic UV filter; and (ii) a cosmetically acceptable carrier.

Methods for protecting and improving the appearance of skin

Compositions containing octocrylene, octinoxate, octisalate, homosalate and having improved sun protection factor (SPF) properties, as well as methods of improving sun protection factor (SPF) properties of compositions, are provided.
