A system includes a subsurface safety valve and a lock tool. The subsurface safety valve is installed within the production tubing and has a main bore delineated by an inner circumferential surface of the subsurface safety valve and a lock profile machined into the inner circumferential surface of the subsurface safety valve. The lock tool is movably disposed around a conduit and has a locking dog configured to engage with the lock profile of the subsurface safety valve and a conduit seal made of a swellable elastomer. The conduit seal is activated by an activation fluid and has an expanded position and an unexpanded position.

A downhole tool system includes an electrical submersible pump (ESP) assembly configured to couple to a downhole conveyance that includes a production fluid flow path for a production fluid from a subterranean formation; and a logging sub-assembly directly coupled to a downhole end of the ESP assembly and including a length of logging cable spoolable off a cable spool of the logging sub-assembly within a wellbore.

A subsurface safety valve for controlling fluid flow in a wellbore including a monitoring sub having a hydraulic connection port and defining a piston bore. The monitoring sub defining a hydraulic circuit extending between the hydraulic connection port and the piston bore. The monitoring sub comprising a sensing assembly incorporated in the hydraulic circuit that is operable to measure a degradation level of fluid in the hydraulic circuit. A flapper sub attached to the monitoring sub. A piston disposed in the piston bore of the monitoring sub. A flow tube positioned between the monitoring sub and the flapper attached to a downhole end of the monitoring sub and in contact with the flapper, the flow tube having a protrusion in contact with the piston. A return spring positioned in a cavity defined between the flow tube and the flapper sub, biasing the flow tube towards the monitoring sub.

Monitoring oil health in subsurface safety valves

A matrix stimulation tool includes a cylindrical tube; at least one piston disposed within the cylindrical tube and longitudinally moveable within the cylindrical tube; and at least one hollow tube coupled to the piston, the hollow tube including a distal end disposed within a hole disposed within a wall of the cylindrical tube. Movement of the piston within the cylindrical tube causes movement of the distal end of the at least one hollow tube through the hole.

Matrix stimulation tool

A downhole system and method for producing and unloading from a well unloads a first fluid through a tubular in the well while blocking flow of a second fluid into the tubular. In an alternate mode, the second fluid is produced through the tubular while the first fluid is blocked from entering the tubular. In another alternate mode, a third fluid is unloaded through the tubular at the same the second fluid is produced from the well and through the tubular. In yet another alternate mode, the second fluid is pressurized downhole. In one example, the first fluid includes water, the second fluid includes a hydrocarbon gas, and the third fluid includes a hydrocarbon liquid. Means for unloading include a pump, means for pressurizing the second fluid include a compressor, and means for selectively blocking flow includes a flow circuit with one-way valves.

Downhole system and method for selectively producing and unloading from a well

Systems and method for separating hydrocarbon fluids from water and solid material within a main tubular of a subterranean well include locating a transducer assembly within the subterranean well, the transducer assembly including a plurality of piezo electric transducers spaced along a length of the main tubular. Standing acoustic waves are generated with the plurality of piezo electric transducers, the standing acoustic waves passing through the main tubular transverse to the central axis. A number of loops of the standing acoustic waves decrease in a direction of flow of fluids through the main tubular.

Acoustic downhole oil-water separation

A method of monitoring a protective fluid of a wellbore tool includes flowing, by a sensor or a fluid moving device secured to a wellbore tool disposed at a downhole location within a wellbore, a portion of a protective fluid of the wellbore tool through a body of the sensor. The portion of the protective fluid is exposed to the body of the sensor responsive to the flowing. The protective fluid degrades over time responsive to the wellbore tool performing operations in the wellbore. The method also includes, in response to the protective fluid being exposed to the body of the sensor, determining, at least in part by the sensor, a degradation level of the protective fluid. The method also includes transmitting, by the sensor or a device communicatively coupled to the sensor, the determined degradation level to a surface of the wellbore.

Monitoring the performance of protective fluids in downhole tools

A method for providing artificial lift with an electric submersible pump system includes providing an electric submersible pump system having a motor, a pump assembly, a seal assembly, and a shaft assembly extending along a central axis from the motor to the pump assembly. The pump assembly includes two or more pump sections and a coupling with a transmission mechanism is located between the two or more pump sections. The motor rotates a motor shaft segment of the shaft assembly that is in engagement with a first pump section and starts the first pump section. One of the transmission mechanisms is moved from a disengaged position to an engaged position where the coupling conveys the rotation of the motor shaft segment to the adjacent shaft segment and starts another of the two or more pump sections.

Methods and apparatus for providing ESP stage sequential engagement

A pressure regulator is configured to manage a pressure downstream of a pump discharge during operation. A hydraulic piston is exposed to pressure upstream of the pressure regulator during operation. The hydraulic piston extends into a first fluid reservoir. The first fluid reservoir is defined by an inner surface of an outer housing of a subsurface safety valve. A subsurface safety valve is fluidically couple to the hydraulic piston.

Operating a subsurface safety valve using a downhole pump

A first platform is mounted to a central riser that is configured to flow a fluid into or out of a wellbore. The central riser is fluidically and structurally attached to a wellhead. The first platform is positioned relative to the central riser to allow access to substantially all external portions of the central riser from the first platform. A second platform is positioned above and supported by the first platform. The first platform is positioned between the second platform and the wellhead. The second platform is movable relative to the first platform.

Multi-level wellhead support platform

Examples of fiber reinforced and powered coil tubing include a hollow fiber reinforced composite coiled tubing with a tubing wall having an inner surface, an outer surface and a wall thickness. The inner surface is formed to prevent absorption of fluids flowed through the coiled tubing to the tubing wall. The tubing can connect a power source at a surface of a wellbore to downhole equipment positioned within the wellbore. An electrical power conductor is embedded in the tubing wall. The conductor can transfer power from the power source to the downhole equipment. The tubing can be used to lower, install and remove downhole equipment into the wellbore without a work-over rig. The downhole equipment can be operated by transmitted power through the electrical power conductor.

Fiber reinforced and powered coil tubing

Systems and methods for removing fluid from a subterranean well with a fluid removal system includes lowering an elongated member into tubing of the subterranean well to a lower position, the elongated tubing having a plunger or valve body located at an end, wherein fluid passes past the plunger or through a valve opening as the valve body moves into the subterranean well. The plunger or valve body is moved in a direction out of the subterranean well so that fluid cannot pass the plunger or through the valve opening, moving the fluid out of the subterranean well.

Well kickoff systems and methods

A gravel pack tool for use in a well including a base pipe selectively deployed in the well that defines an outer annulus between the base pipe and an inner wall of the well, a dissolvable plug in a side wall of the base pipe, and tubing positioned within the base pipe that is in selective communication with a source of a bead forming fluid. When the bead forming fluid flows through the tubular and into the well, compounds in the bead forming fluid react to form beads within the outer annulus. The beads collect along a screen that circumscribes the base pipe and define a gravel pack which through which formation fluid is directed prior to entering production tubing in the wellbore.

Gravel packing system and method

A safety valve system for a subterranean well includes a central body with a central body profile and a supporting body having a supporting profile shaped to support the central body profile. An outer diameter seal circumscribes the central body to seal between the central body and the supporting body. An inner diameter seal is located within a central bore of the central body to form a seal between the central bore of the central body and a cable that extends through the central bore. An annular fluid flow path extends through the safety valve system axially past the outer diameter seal and the inner diameter seal. A valve assembly is moveable between an open position where fluid can flow through the annular fluid flow path, and a closed position where fluid is prevented from flowing through the annular fluid flow path.
