A system of embedding access control logic into a network gear according to an embodiment includes a plurality of access control devices including corresponding lock mechanisms configured to control access through corresponding passageways, a headend access control system configured to manage access control data associated with the plurality of access control devices, and a network switch communicatively coupled to the headend access control system and comprising a smart communication manager, wherein the smart communication manager includes an application programming interface accessible by the headend access control system and translates commands received from the headend access control system into payloads readable by the plurality of access control devices.

A position sensing system and method for detecting the displacement of a door from a reference position, such as, for example, from a closed position. The system includes a magnetometer that may be operably connected to the door, and which measures positional location relative to a reference magnetic field, such as, for example, a magnetic field provided by a magnet of a lock device. The system may also include an accelerometer that detects acceleration of the door, and thereby provides an indication of when location is to be measured by the magnetometer. Measurement information from the magnetometer is used to derive a position indicator that is compared to a reference indicator, the reference indicator being associated with the reference position. Differences between the position and reference indicators may provide an indication that the door has been moved from the reference position.

A communication circuit according to one embodiment includes a single element antenna, a plurality of signal-limiting circuits, a high-frequency transceiver circuit, and a low-frequency transceiver circuit. The high-frequency transceiver circuit is adapted to be selectively coupled to the single element antenna via the plurality of signal-limiting circuits and tuned to operate at a high frequency carrier frequency, and the low-frequency transceiver circuit is adapted to be selectively coupled to the single element antenna via the plurality of signal-limiting circuits and tuned to operate at a low frequency carrier frequency.

An electronic lock system including an access control device configured to provide system instructions, an interface module electrically coupled to the access control device and configured to transmit RF signals in response to system instructions received from the access control device, and a plurality of wireless electronic door locks each configured to wirelessly communicate with the interface module. Each of the wireless electronic door locks includes a controller and a wireless receiver operatively connected to the controller, the wireless receiver including a first antenna defined as a circuit board trace and a second antenna, spaced from the first antenna and defined as a circuit board trace. Each of the first antenna and the second antenna include one of a monopole antenna and a fractal antenna. The controller is configured to switch between the first antenna and the second antenna to receive a wireless signal having a greater signal strength.
