A fluid displacement and pressurization device which provides both a substantial amount of thread engagement as well as provides for single hand control for all operational manipulations including maintaining a set fill volume, rapid filling and displacement, and pressurization and retention of evacuation positioning during balloon depressurization. The device allows for the use of one hand to not only transition the device from micro-movement control to macro-movement control, but also regarding rotating, pushing or pulling the handle of the plunger.

An IOL delivery device which has a macro movement actuator which is actuateable to move an IOL into position in the device for the IOL to be delivered, and a micro movement actuator comprising at least one pivotable member which is pivotable to deliver the IOL to the eye. The pivotable member may comprise one or more wheels that are rotatable using one's finger.

Intraocular lens delivery device and method of use

A fluid pressurizing and displacement device which is configured for both macro movement and micro movement of a plunger. In order to execute micro movement of the plunger, a user need only rotate the plunger; to execute macro movement of the plunger, a user need only push or pull the plunger. This simplicity in use is possible because a half-nut (or other suitable structure within the device) remains engaged with the plunger, except when the plunger is being pushed or pulled by its operator. All user motions are simple and intuitive.

An IOL delivery device which has a macro movement actuator which is actuatable to move an IOL into position in the device for the IOL to be delivered, and a micro movement actuator which is actuatable to deliver the IOL to the eye.

A fluid displacement and pressurizing device having a housing and a carrier member. A plunger extends through the carrier member, and plunger engaging structure is retained by the carrier member. The plunger engaging structure is selectively engageable with, and disengageable from, the plunger. The housing and carrier member are configured such that the carrier member is transversely installable in the housing. Preferably, both the carrier member and the plunger engaging structure form a sub-assembly, and the sub-assembly is transversely installable in the housing after having been assembled. By providing that the carrier member is transversely installable as a sub-assembly which includes the plunger engaging structure, the device is easy to assemble, and lends itself well to an automated assembly process. Integral handle and gripping features make control and operation of the devices easier, and allows for torsional operating loads to be resolved without reaching the device body.

Fluid displacement and pressurizing devices, and assembly thereof

A syringe which has an intended pressure limit. The syringe includes a syringe body, and a pressure-limiting mechanism is disposed inside the syringe body. The pressure-limiting mechanism may comprise a valve body which is spring biased in the syringe body. In one embodiment, the pressure-limiting mechanism is provided in the form the valve assembly having a valve seal which moves into sealing engagement with an internal wall of a valve bore in the syringe housing once the intended pressure limit is reached. In another embodiment, the pressure-limiting mechanism is provided in the form of the valve assembly having a valve seat which moves into sealing or plugged engagement with a valve plug once the intended pressure limit is reached. Regardless of the exact configuration, preferably the syringe is simple, reliable, easy to assembly, and easy to sterilize given its low number of parts.

Pressure limiting mechanism for fluid displacement and pressurizing syringe and method of assembly

A lockable syringe having an actuating mechanism for rapidly and selectively placing a movable thread bearing plunger member and stationary internally threaded cylinder into or out of threaded engagement, particularly for using the syringe to pressurize therapeutic medical balloon catheters, or the like. The mechanism includes a plunger having both a piston at its end to engage a barrel portion of a unitary syringe body, selectively deployable and retractable threaded segment, and an internally threaded cylindrical structure disposed within a unitary syringe body having a barrel. The plunger is engageable with the threaded cylinder by means of a threaded segment, and an operator actuated desmodromic arrangement to controllably reciprocate the threaded segment in a positive manner in order to allow either rapid manual or thread controlled plunger and piston movement within the syringe's barrel for purposes of displacing or pressurizing working fluid contained therein.

Lockable syringe and method of assembling same

An inflator which preferably has a gauge thereon and means for communicating with a medical connector or device. The inflator has a syringe body, a handle on the syringe body, a plunger which extends out from the handle and extends into the syringe body, and a plunger locking mechanism which is associated with the handle. The plunger locking mechanism includes an actuation lever which is configured to be depressed, thereby causing the plunger locking mechanism to actuate. The plunger locking mechanism includes a ratchet pawl which is configured to selectively engage corresponding ratchet structure, thereby locking the plunger in place, during which time the plunger is prevented from being retracted, but can still be advanced (i.e., pushed into the syringe body during pressurization). The plunger locking mechanism is configured such that when the actuation lever is released, the ratchet pawl disengages from the corresponding ratchet structure, thus freeing the plunger.

A fluid displacement device, particularly for use of the device to pressurize balloon catheters, or the like. The device includes a plunger which is displaceable through a housing, and an actuating mechanism which engages the plunger. The actuating mechanism includes a nut member that is biased into engagement with a threaded portion of the plunger. The device has a press-to-release feature wherein the plunger is instantly releaseable by simply depressing a control surface to overcome a restorative spring force. Subsequently, the plunger can be translated using macro movements (i.e., by pushing or pulling the plunger).

A cooking apparatus is provided that comprises a housing structure, an internal heating source, an exit, a control panel, and a protective shield. The internal heating source is located within the housing structure. The exit is located at an exterior portion of the housing structure where the exit is configured to transport heat emissions from the internal heating source. The control panel is located above the exit. The protective shield is coupled to the housing structure where the protective shield is configured to deflect the heat emissions in a direction away from the control panel.

An improved contact lens case which includes domes that are provided on hinged members. Preferably, the contact lens case is configured to efficiently utilize space and volume such that no more than 10 cc's of contact lens solution are required to disinfect contact lenses in the case. The hinged members are preferably non-planar which allows the domes to be provided on the hinged members, and allows the use of deep larger diameter, back-to-back cages on the stem, without having to resort to using more than 10 cc's of fluid to immerse contact lenses that are disposed on the domes, between each of the domes and a respective cage. Each of the hinged members has a cylindrically-curved shell form in which the axis of its curve is approximately parallel to the central axis of the central planar stem member.
