In some implementations, a controller may receive a command to adjust a setting of the screed assembly. The controller may obtain temperature data from one or more sensor devices of the screed assembly. The controller may determine, based on the temperature data, a corresponding temperature of one or more components of the screed assembly. The controller may selectively cause the setting to be adjusted or preventing the setting from being adjusted based on the corresponding temperature of the one or more components, the setting being adjusted based on determining that the corresponding temperature satisfies a temperature threshold, or the setting being prevented from being adjusted based on determining that the corresponding temperature does not satisfy the temperature threshold.

A screed assembly for a paving machine includes a main screed unit having a first section and a second section. A hinge assembly located above the main screed unit pivotally couples the first section with the second section. The first section and the second section rotate around a horizontal axis passing through the hinge assembly. A seal member located between the hinge assembly and the main screed unit covers a gap defined between the first section and the second section below the hinge assembly such that the seal member covers the gap and laterally extends beyond the gap above the first section and the second section. A pair of heating components attached to the first section and the second section heats the first section and the second section.

A screed assembly includes a screed and a screed extension, with the screed coupled to the screed extension. The screed further includes an upper frame and a lower frame. The lower frame is adapted to move in a substantially vertical direction and movement in a substantially vertical direction of the lower frame results in corresponding substantially vertical movement of the screed extension.

A screed has an extendible frame portion that includes a catch engaging surface of an extension mounting system. The extendible frame portion is expandable along a lateral extension axis and pivotable about a pivot axis perpendicular to the lateral extension axis. In a mounting configuration, the extendible frame portion is pivoted to a lowered mounting position, and the extendible frame portion is axially expanded to an extended mounting position in which the catch engaging surface and the mounting catch are vertically aligned. In a lifted configuration, the extendible frame portion is pivoted to a raised lifting position, the catch engaging surface and the mounting catch are in mating engagement, and the screed extension is supported on the extendible frame portion using the extension mounting system.
