A stent (scaffold) or other luminal prosthesis comprising circumferential structural elements which provide high strength after deployment and allows for scaffold to uncage, and/or allow for scaffold or luminal expansion thereafter. The circumferential scaffold is typically formed from non-degradable material and will be modified to expand and/or uncage after deployment.

Uncaging stent

A stent (scaffold) or other luminal prosthesis comprising circumferential structural elements which provides high strength after deployment and allows for scaffold to uncage, and/or allow for scaffold or luminal expansion thereafter. The circumferential scaffold may be formed from degradable material, or may be formed from non-degradable material and will be modified to expand and/or uncage after deployment.

Devices and methods are provided for an implantable medical device which is degradable over a clinically relevant period of time. The medical devices may have the form of implants, graft implants, vascular implants, non vascular implants, wound closure implants, sutures, drug delivery implants, biologic delivery implants, urinary tract implants, inter-uterine implants, organ implants, bone implants including bone plates, bone screws, dental implants, spinal disks, or the like. In preferred embodiments, the implantable medical device comprises an implantable luminal prosthesis, such as vascular and non-vascular stents and stents grafts.

Degradable implantable medical devices

Endoprosthesis is provided, which includes a plurality of annular elements, each annular element connected to an adjacent annular element at least one connection location. Each annular element includes an interconnected series of strut members, at least one strut member connected to a first circumferentially adjacent strut member at a first longitudinal apex and to a second circumferentially adjacent strut member at a second longitudinal apex, the first apex and the second apex being on longitudinally opposite sides of the annular element. The at least one strut member includes a first end portion at a first end of the strut member, the first end extending to the first apex, an intermediate portion hingedly connected to the first end portion, and a second end portion hingedly connected to the intermediate portion and extending to the second apex.

Endoprosthesis for controlled contraction and expansion

An endoprosthesis that has an interconnected series of struts, selected strut members connected to adjacent strut members at a longitudinal apex. Strut members include a first end portion, an intermediate portion hingedly connected to the first end portion, and a second end portion hingedly connected to the intermediate portion and extending to the apex. Some of the strut members can have a nesting feature configured for nestingly receiving another strut member when the endoprosthesis is in the delivery condition. A scaffolding body of the endoprosthesis can have an inner and outer component, each having a set of interconnected strut members which overlap those of the other to define a cooperating cell pattern. Also, the endoprosthesis can be configured to naturally tend to contract when the body is smaller than a predetermined diameter and expand when the body is larger than a predetermined diameter.

A lead assembly and method of forming a lead assembly is provided. Devices and methods of forming the lead assembly include a support coil. The support coil provides enhanced support and protection from lead damage and failure. A lead assembly and method of forming a lead assembly is also provided including at least one electrode. Electrodes may be incorporated into the support coil design. The lead assembly and method of forming a lead assembly may be incorporated with other medical devices such as an implantable defibrillator.

Method and device for supporting or strengthening a portion of a lead

The present invention is directed to balloon catheter having a compression member securing one or more balloon skirts to the catheter shaft. The compression member may be a band or coil that sealing secures the balloon skirt to a catheter shaft. Metallic compression members may be swaged to compress the skirt against the shaft, and thus provide a uniform seal between the balloon skirt and the catheter shaft. The compression members are especially useful when the balloon is formed of a fluoropolymer, such as expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) or polyterafluoroethylene (PTFE).

An intravascular catheter of the invention has an improved distal tip with an expanded portion which has exterior transverse dimensions greater than an unexpanded portion proximally adjacent to the expanded portion. In one presently preferred embodiment the catheter has an inflatable balloon with a distal skirt which is secured to the unexpanded portion of the distal tip so as to provide an even exterior surface thereto.

The present invention is directed to a balloon catheter, such as a dilatation catheter and a stent delivery catheter with improved stiffness transition and specifically with no sudden changes in stiffness along the catheter length. The balloon catheters of the present invention may be used alone or be mounted with a stent in. The balloon catheters of the present invention may be used in peripheral, coronary, or neurovascular applications. The present catheter has more than one portion with different bending stiffness values, each portion comprising of components that gradually transition the bending stiffness of that portion to an adjacent portion, thus reducing the differential in bending stiffness in moving from one region to another, when the catheter is used alone or in combination with a stent in a stent delivery system.
