The invention relates to a adhesive article comprising at least one backing layer with a first and second surface and a pressure sensitive adhesive layer adhered first surface of the backing layer in a pattern, wherein the pattern of the adhesive layer has an adhesive free area of less than about 25% and wherein the adhesive article has a water vapor transmission rate of greater than about 2000 g/m/24 hour. The invention also relates to a method of forming an adhesive article comprising (a) providing a release liner, (b) applying pressure sensitive adhesive in a pattern wherein the free adhesive area is less than 25%, and (c) applying a backing layer to the pressure sensitive adhesive.

Pattern coated adhesive article

An envelope sheet assembly for securing into a brochure or binder includes multiple sheets overlying one another so that the assembly is of uniform thickness to facilitate printing thereon. The envelope sheet assembly is preferably 8&frac12; inches by 11 inches in size, and the envelope is preferably 11 inches by 4&frac12; inches. Permanent pressure sensitive adhesive is employed to hold the sheets together and to form the envelope. The adhesive is also applied to the sealing flap, with a removable strip coated with a suitable release agent (i.e. silicone) protecting the adhesive coated flap. Perforations permit easy removal of the envelope from the assembly. The perforations can have a cut and tie pattern wherein the ties attach the envelope to the sheet assembly. The sheet assembly frames the envelope at all outside edges of the envelope or some of the outer edges of the sheet assembly can form outer edges of the envelope.

Machine feedable envelope

The present invention relates to an assembly which includes a display card-forming section and an identification card-forming section. The identification card-forming section includes a first backing sheet and contains an identification card backing region. Further included is a first adhesive layer, a first release layer joined to the first side of the backing sheet and to the first adhesive layer except at the identification card backing region where there is an opening in the first release layer, and a transparent lamination sheet. The transparent lamination sheet has a first side, joined to the first adhesive layer. The transparent lamination sheet includes an identification card back covering portion aligned with the opening and an identification card front covering portion adjacent to and substantially similar in size to the identification card back covering portion, where the identification card front and back covering portions are separable from the transparent lamination sheet and joined at a location substantially aligned with a side edge of the identification card backing region. Further, the present invention relates to methods of creating a laminated card.

Laminated card assembly

A versatile method for the manufacturing of image transfer sheets which provide users with cold transferring images without using supplemental heat in the course of image transfer to a wide variety of substrates includes printing an image with water-based ink onto an image transfer sheet that has a coating of water-accepting adhesive. A method of manufacturing image transfer sheets includes first applying a water impermeable layer onto a flexible substrate. A layer of water-activatable adhesive is applied upon the water impermeable layer. The adhesive is then dried in a dryer with dehumidified air. A water permeable detack layer is then applied upon the layer of adhesive. In a particular embodiment, the sheet further includes a water-accepting image holding layer in between the water-accepting adhesive layer and the water impermeable layer. The image holding layer becomes water-resisting when heated to within a range of activation temperatures.

Image transfer sheets and a method of manufacturing the same

The invention relates to a adhesive article comprising at least one backing layer with a first and second surface and a pressure sensitive adhesive layer adhered first surface of the backing layer in a pattern, wherein the pattern of the adhesive layer has an adhesive free area of less than about 25% and wherein the adhesive article has a water vapor transmission rate of greater than about 2000 g/m /24 hour. The invention also relates to a method of forming an adhesive article comprising (a) providing a release liner, (b) applying pressure sensitive adhesive in a pattern wherein the free adhesive area is less than 25%, and (c) applying a backing layer to the pressure sensitive adhesive. The present invention provides pattern coated adhesive bandages that strongly adhere to human skin while permitting water vapor transmission there through. Accordingly the present invention also provides methods of facilitating the healing of wounds using the pattern coated adhesive bandage. High breathability, as measured by moisture vapor transmission rate (MVTR), is desirable features of an adhesive bandage in order to prevent maceration of the skin due to trapped moisture, and to enhance comfort during wear of the bandage by the end user.

Printable triple-layer mailer assembly

A versatile method of cold transferring images without using supplemental heat in the course of image transfer to a wide variety of substrates includes printing an image with water-based ink onto an image transfer sheet that has a coating of water-accepting adhesive. The sheet is then applied to the substrate to transfer only the portions of the adhesive that bear the image onto the substrate, with the remainder of the adhesive remaining attached to the sheet. A method of manufacturing image transfer sheets includes first applying a water impermeable layer onto a flexible substrate. A layer of water-activatable adhesive is applied upon the water impermeable layer. The adhesive is then dried in a dryer with dehumidified air. A water permeable detack layer is then applied upon the layer of adhesive. A sheet for transferring an image that has been printed onto the sheet with a water-based ink has a flexible backing layer and one or more water-accepting layers with water activatable adhesive that are printed with a printing press and/or coated onto the flexible backing layer. A water-impermeable layer is disposed in between the adhesive and the backing layer. A detack layer may be applied onto the layer of adhesive. A water permeable colored, tinted, or reflective water-permeable layer may be between the detack layer and the water-accepting layer, or a colorant may be added to the detack layer. One embodiment includes a water-permeable layer of cross-linker in between the detack layer the water-accepting layer, wherein said water-accepting layer becomes water-resisting when water-based ink flows through said layer of cross-linker and into said water-accepting layer. In another embodiment, the water-accepting layer includes both adhesive and cross-linker, wherein the water-accepting layer is adapted to become water-resisting when the adhesive and the cross-linker react when the water-accepting layer is heated. In another embodiment, the sheet further includes a water-accepting image holding layer in between the water-accepting adhesive layer and the water impermeable layer. The image holding layer becomes water-resisting when heated to within a range of activation temperatures.

An envelope sheet assembly for securing into a brochure or binder includes two sheets overlying one another so that the assembly is of uniform thickness to facilitate printing thereon. The envelope sheet assembly is preferably 81/2 inches by 11 inches in size, and the envelope is preferably 11 inches by 41/2 inches. Permanent pressure sensitive adhesive is employed to form the envelope and is applied to the sealing flap, with a removable strip to protect the adhesive coated flap. Perforations permit easy removal of the envelope from the assembly.

Two layer mailer envelope for brochure

An identification wristband and corresponding adhesive identification labels are supplied by a single printed laminated sheet material. The latter comprises a paper sheet of which a wristband part has a die cut, elongated, wristband strip and a label part having a plurality of die cut adhesive labels. The die cut wristband strip and the die cut labels are printed with correlated identification indicia. The under side of the label part is releasably adhered to a release sheet. A flexible transparent film is releasably adhered to the under side of the wristband part of the paper sheet. The transparent film is die cut to form two contiguous rectangular areas, each slightly larger than the firmly adhered die cut wristband strip. These die cut film areas are separated by a longitudinally bisecting line and each has a longitudinal, integral, tabular extension at opposite ends. To form a covered wristband, the die cut strip of the paper sheet is pressed on the printed side to separate it from the sheet. The die cut section of the film is peeled from its releasable adhesion to the under side of the sheet. Then the rectangular area of the film is folded along the bisecting line and adhered to the printed side of the band strip. This forms a wristband having a laminated transparent cover for the printed strip and with exposed adhesive tabs at each end thereof. The labels with correlated indicia can be affixed to medicine containers for a patient identified by the wristband.

Laminated article

A label for applying to a CD includes a label adhering section and a detachable centering section integral therewith. The centering section is shaped so that the label registers exactly on center on the CD when the outside edge of the centering section abut the inside surfaces of the portable container in which the CD is housed.
